Wang Beibei was momentarily stunned when she saw the video.
Wang Zixuan asked, “Is this you?”
Wang Beibei replied, “Yes, it’s me. I was out shopping with my boyfriend over the weekend. We did go to that jewelry store. But there was no explosion or anything of the sort. Everything was perfectly normal.”
As she finished speaking, her slender jade-like fingers pointed at the candy wrapper in Hao Yingjun’s hand. Hao Yingjun was about to hand it over, but Wang Zixuan grabbed Hao Yingjun’s wrist and pulled it back.
Wang Zixuan said, “Still pretending, aren’t you? Fine, let me show you.”
Wang Zixuan tapped the screen and the video began to play. Wang Beibei propped her chin, watching.
Wang Zixuan continued, “Li Jiayi, the president of Universal Energy Corporation. Since last year, he’s been meeting with you frequently. The fashion events you attended were all sponsored by his company. In other words, he’s the one who made you such a popular celebrity.
But here’s the thing. He’s willing to spend money on you, but he has a family. I questioned the store staff who attended you. That day, while you two were picking out rings, he had to leave suddenly due to a family emergency. You were dissatisfied. In your anger, you publicly vented your frustration.”
By now the video had ended. Wang Beibei’s expression remained unchanged.
Wang Zixuan asked, “Am I right?”
Wang Beibei stirred her coffee with a spoon, set it down calmly, and said, “It was just an argument. Is that really worth such a grave accusation?”

Wang Zixuan immediately replied, “Of course not.”
He pointed at the store clerk on the screen and said, “It was because of them—you were furious.”
Hao Yingjun gazed at Wang Beibei with infatuation. Wang Beibei glanced at the spot Wang Zixuan indicated in the video, then smiled at him.
Wang Zixuan continued, “You were very dissatisfied with their attitude, weren’t you? You wished you could blow up the whole store.”
Wang Beibei laughed. “They just gossiped about me a bit. It’s nothing! No big deal. I’m not like you, Wang the Great Beauty—so sensitive.”
Wang Zixuan slapped the table with both hands and stood up, startling Hao Yingjun, who stared at him.
Wang Zixuan said, “Do you know where you are? This is Supermarket No. 444. Still trying to play tricks with me? Do you think I don’t know who you are? Do you think I can’t do anything about you, Wang Zhaodi?”
At this, Wang Beibei was taken aback, her demeanor flustered and helpless.
Wang Zixuan continued, “Your real name is Wang Zhaodi, sixty-one years old. You failed the human cultural studies exam, so you were not allowed to enter the city. Two years ago, you won an athletic competition and were granted a temporary city permit as an exception.”
Wang Beibei’s hand clenched into a fist, her bones cracking audibly. Her expression grew even more panicked.
Wang Zixuan said, “Upon arriving in M City, you quickly changed your name to Wang Beibei.”

Wang Beibei replied, “Changing one’s name isn’t a crime, is it?”
Wang Zixuan slapped the table sharply. “Interrupt me again and I’ll smack you.”
Wang Beibei defensively raised her hand, tense and silent.
Wang Zixuan pulled a photo and a document from a file folder and handed them to Wang Beibei.
Wang Zixuan asked, “With a constitution that doesn’t allow you to pass gas easily, are you even eligible for this competition?”
Hao Yingjun curiously took the photo, glanced at it, then looked at Wang Beibei with a peculiar expression.
Hao Yingjun asked, “A flatulence competition?”
Wang Zixuan said, “Once a master of venting, you finally made a name for yourself. But you were ridiculed and despised. Overwhelmed by a sense of inferiority, you resorted to your hidden talent.”
