Chapter 112: Memories

One year, Hao Yingjun, looking haggard and disheveled, sat near the train station. In front of him lay a piece of cardboard bearing the words:
“Urgent help needed. My beloved dog is ill, and I have gone completely bankrupt paying for its treatment. Seeking kind-hearted assistance.”
Little Four lay beside him, with a basin placed in front of him.
Just then, a beautiful woman carrying a luggage bag and a guitar case walked toward them. She stopped in front of Hao Yingjun and stared at him in disbelief.
“Is that you, Hao Yingjun?”
Hao Yingjun looked up. He was not entirely sure who she was, but he stood up anyway.
Xu Miaohan hurried over and said, “I can’t believe it really is you! Hahahaha!”
While Hao Yingjun stood there utterly bewildered, Xu Miaohan laughed and threw her arms around him.
“Oh my, it’s been so long! Hahahaha!”
Only then did Hao Yingjun react. He hurriedly backed away several steps, putting some distance between them.
Xu Miaohan froze for a moment, then realized what had happened. Pointing to herself, she introduced herself.
“Xu Miaohan.”
Hao Yingjun was stunned again, but slowly recovered from his confusion.
“Oh! Good heavens—it’s Xu Miaohan! Just look at you, look at me. What’s wrong with my eyesight? It’s been ages. I’ve missed you terribly.”
Xu Miaohan nodded.
“Indeed. It really has been a long time. What, did you forget about me? But what happened to your dog?”
Hao Yingjun stared at her blankly for a long while before finally coming to his senses when she asked about the dog.

“Oh, haha. I’m doing charity work. Yes, that’s what I’m doing. You understand, right? Anyway... where are you going?”
Xu Miaohan did not dwell on the matter. Hearing his question, she happily replied, “I was accepted into the Beijing Conservatory of Music. I’m going there to study.”
Hao Yingjun nodded.
“Not bad, not bad. Congratulations.”
“Thanks.”
“Hey, no problem.”
The atmosphere grew somewhat awkward. After all, they had not seen each other in many years—and they were a man and a woman, at that.
“Um... turn around.”
Hao Yingjun was bewildered once more.
“Huh?”
Xu Miaohan pulled him around so that his back faced her.
“Just turn around.”
She then took out a marker and signed her name on the back of Hao Yingjun’s white coat.
“Once I get to Beijing and become a famous singer, you must come to one of my concerts. Wear this coat, and I promise I won’t charge you admission.”

Before leaving, she hugged Hao Yingjun once more. Even as she neared the station, she kept waving at him.
Just then, Xiaodeng hurried over with a sheet of paper in his hand. He picked up the admission notice and examined it.
“How is that possible? Her résumé says she graduated from the local teachers’ college and went straight into teaching. How could she possibly be going away to study? This makes no sense.”
The air suddenly fell silent. It seemed as though everyone had remembered something.
At that moment, Gu Weimin came over carrying a teacup to discuss something with Wang Zixuan.
“I heard you all talking about dreams just now. My dream back then was...”
When they came downstairs and reached the conference room, they could not help staring in astonishment. They had just heard people talking, yet in the short time it took them to come down, everyone had vanished.
This was far too strange.
Wang Zixuan went to Xu Miaohan’s home once again, wanting to find out what was really going on. As luck would have it, Xu Miaohan’s parents were making dumplings.
Xu Miaohan’s mother said, “That girl only likes dumplings with thin wrappers and lots of meat. If you boil them like this, they’ll fall apart.”
