Chapter 82: The Ancient Tomb Sect
On the other side, Mongolian Prince Hodu arrived at the gates of the Ancient Tomb Sect with a group of Mongolian soldiers. At the forefront, Hodu, with the air of a refined gentleman, waved his folding fan and, feeling self-assured, called out loudly toward the entrance of the sect.
"Prince Hodu of Mongolia has come today to congratulate Lady Long on her birthday."
"I’ve heard Lady Long is renowned throughout the world, and today she is holding a martial contest to choose a husband. I am of noble birth and good appearance, and wish to find a worthy match. Surely, I would not disgrace her. Lady Long is a heroine of this era—there is no need for modesty."
However, after Hodu’s loud proclamation outside the gate, there was no response from Lady Long behind the tomb entrance.
After waiting for a moment, a swarm of fierce bees suddenly flew out from the direction of the tomb.
Seeing this unexpected swarm, Hodu and the Mongolian soldiers were startled and began to retreat in panic.
This was not their first encounter with these bees.
Every year around this time, Hodu would bring men to the Ancient Tomb Sect, hoping to win her favor.
But year after year, not only had he failed to win her affection, he had never even caught a glimpse of her.
Each time, they were greeted only by these relentless bees.
These were no ordinary bees.
Their ferocity and venom were far greater than the common hornet.
Thus, even skilled martial artists, when faced with the attack of these bees, could only flee in disarray.
"Run! These bees are too dangerous!"
The Mongolian soldiers dared not linger. Without waiting for Hodu’s command, they turned and ran at once.
Hodu himself, seeing the scene, abandoned any pretense and fled into the forest in disarray.
Their movements were swift; in just a few minutes, Hodu and his men vanished without a trace.
Meanwhile, high above the forest, Wang Kun, after recruiting Li Mochou and her disciple Hong Lingbo, intended to see the reclusive Lady Long who lived within the Ancient Tomb Sect.
But Wang Kun did not go himself. He sent several of his beautiful female warriors, along with newly recruited Li Mochou and Hong Lingbo, to investigate first.
Arriving at the stone gate made of the Broken Dragon Stone, the female warrior Yin Susu raised her hand and struck the gate.
A tremendous crash echoed through the mountain valley as the stone shattered.
The commotion was so loud that Hodu and his men, who had already fled, turned to look back toward the sect’s gate.
"Prince, that noise came from the Ancient Tomb Sect."
Hodu glanced from a distance, his eyes flickering. He waved his hand and ordered his men, "Let’s go back and have a look."
Since Wang Kun had caused such a disturbance in the Ancient Tomb Sect, the jade bees that had been chasing Hodu and his men now began to return.
Without the threat of the jade bees, Hodu and his soldiers regained their confidence.
Of course, the main reason was that Hodu wanted to know the cause of the earlier commotion.
Within the passageway behind the sect’s gate, Wang Kun’s female warriors, led by Li Mochou, entered the tomb with practiced ease.
In no time, they encountered Lady Long herself in one of the burial chambers—a young woman dressed in white, ethereal and otherworldly.
"My dear junior sister, your senior has returned, yet you don’t even come out to greet me," said Li Mochou, now one of Wang Kun’s warriors, fixing her gaze on the innocent yet enchanting Lady Long.
At this moment, Lady Long looked somewhat youthful and naive.
Indeed, when Wang Kun sensed her through his system, he discovered that the young Lady Long, who had yet to truly enter the martial world, did not meet the requirements for recruitment as a warrior.
"It seems I’ll have to wait a while longer," Wang Kun thought to himself and slipped away quietly.
Since Lady Long didn’t qualify, he was in no rush to appear.
Lacking the conditions, Wang Kun planned to proceed as he had in the world of Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber—if the conditions didn’t exist, he would create them.
He believed that as long as Lady Long entered the martial world early and experienced its genuine dangers, her defenses would surely be broken.
