Chapter 41: The Female Assassin, Xia Tian
On the other side, at the remote control center of the Pearl Tower.
At this moment, the accomplices of the criminal group were staring at the surveillance footage, utterly baffled. The woman leading them, the assassin in charge, tried repeatedly to contact her team inside the Pearl Tower, but all attempts failed. Left with no choice, she reported the situation to headquarters.
Moments later, headquarters issued a new order: she was to take her team into the Pearl Tower and find out exactly what had happened. After all, the rapid succession of the fire breaking out, being extinguished, and all contact being lost with everyone inside was simply too fast and too inexplicable.
At the very top of the Pearl Tower, Zhao Longji, the richest man in the world’s Hong Kong Island, had grown deeply respectful of Wang Kun after witnessing his methods. Wang Kun, however, did not make things difficult for him; he merely had Zhao hand over his contingency against the international crime syndicate—namely, a specially prepared flash drive.
“This drive contains details of the syndicate’s accounts in major banks around the world,” Wang Kun said after a pause. “Hand all this information over to the police.”
Zhao Longji hesitated. He had kept these measures only to keep the criminal syndicate in check and prevent them from targeting him. Unless absolutely necessary, he had never intended to completely antagonize such a notorious global organization. After all, if forced into desperation, they could make his life a living hell.
“You’re worried about their revenge, aren’t you?” Wang Kun smiled. “Don’t be. I’ll be staying in the Pearl Tower for the time being. If they dare come, they won’t be leaving. Moreover, if you can locate the syndicate’s headquarters or identify key members, I wouldn’t mind helping you eliminate every last threat.”
Zhao Longji’s eyes lit up at the proposal, but then he hesitated. “Since you’re helping me so much, what do you want in return?”
Wang Kun laughed lightly. “The environment here is quite nice, with a splendid view. Just give me a few units in the Pearl Tower as a token.”
He was doing all this only to alter the course of events—not for any reward. After all, he had already completed the system’s check-in task at the Pearl Tower and obtained a hundred Death Warrior Cards—something money could never buy. Material compensation no longer held any appeal for him.
“Very well. If you can resolve this trouble for me, I’ll give you the property rights to ten floors of the Pearl Tower.”
“That’s settled then. For now, do as I instructed. When the police arrive, handle things as you see fit. I’ll be staying here for now.”
“No problem, please follow me. I have a private residence here—it’s fully equipped and brand new. If you require anything else, just let me know.”
“Go on, then. Take care of your business.”
This entire floor not only included Zhao Longji’s private quarters but also rooms for his bodyguards. Even with Wang Kun occupying part of his space, Zhao Longji still had plenty of rooms at his disposal.
Roughly twenty minutes later, a large contingent of police arrived. While they secured the scene, Zhao Longji made a copy of the data and handed it over to law enforcement.
Meanwhile, after a quick disguise, the female assassin who had infiltrated the Pearl Tower received her latest orders from headquarters.
“Damn it, Zhao Longji has handed over the information to the police. Interpol is now tracing our accounts. Find an opportunity and take him out.”
“Understood!” she responded, relaying the new command through her communicator.
The syndicate had sent a significant number of operatives to Hong Kong Island for this mission. Their only losses so far had been those who entered the Pearl Tower, but there were still at least a dozen members outside—each ruthlessly trained and formidable. If it weren’t for Wang Kun’s extraordinary abilities, the police would have found these criminals extremely difficult to handle.
That night, inside the Pearl Tower, several disguised assassins made their way smoothly to the top floor. What they didn’t know was that their ease of entry was entirely due to Zhao Longji, acting under Wang Kun’s instructions. From the outset, Wang Kun had told Zhao not to over-tighten security—otherwise, after suffering one loss already, Zhao Longji would have doubled or tripled the security measures.
On the 220th floor, the elevator doors parted. The assassins, ready for bloodshed, were surprised to find no security personnel at all on the top floor. Approaching cautiously, they saw a young man sitting on the sofa in the main hall—it was Wang Kun himself.
The assassins raised their guns, ready to fire, but in an instant, the weapons flew from their hands, suspended in midair and turning to aim back at them.
Stunned, the assassins stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Wang Kun—seated calmly—was equally surprised as he looked at the leading female assassin. She had short, sharp hair and a face that seemed oddly familiar to him. Most importantly, his system’s interface had just alerted him: this woman met the requirements for using one of his Death Warrior Cards.
These special items, the hundred Death Warrior Cards he now possessed, existed only within the system’s interface—if he used one, the count would drop by one. After a brief thought, Wang Kun decided to use a card on her and see the effect.
In a flash, a black card—visible only to him—shot toward the female assassin.
Her eyes gleamed with a cold light, and in the next instant, she drew her backup pistol.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of gunshots rang out—her fellow assassins were all killed with shots to the head.
“Xia Tian, reporting to my master!” she said, respectfully bowing before Wang Kun after dispatching the others.
“How many of your organization are still on Hong Kong Island?” Wang Kun asked. In his mind, the system’s interface now displayed her image and name alongside the Death Warrior Card he had just used. This woman was now his utterly loyal death warrior, bound to obey any command without hesitation.
The slaughter of her companions had been his silent order.
