Chapter 18: The Gene Primal Energy Cultivation Method
Inside the grand hall of the Limit Club, Wang Kun and Luo Feng arrived early and now sat waiting patiently in the lounge area. As time passed, Luo Feng soon ran into an old acquaintance from the Limit Martial Arts Hall of Yi’an District.
“Brother Yang, you’re here for the prospective warrior assessment today too?”
“Haha, to be honest, I took the test just last month, but unfortunately my speed fell short of the standard. I hope I can make a breakthrough this time.” He glanced at Wang Kun. “By the way, this must be Wang Kun, right?”
Wang Kun had previously been just a junior student at the martial arts hall and hadn’t crossed paths with Yang Wu, who was a senior. However, due to Wang Kun’s recent, sudden rise to prominence in the Yi’an District hall—and since he lived in the same neighborhood as Luo Feng—Yang Wu had come to know him.
“Nice to meet you, Brother Yang,” Wang Kun greeted simply.
Not long after some idle conversation, a middle-aged man entered the hall. Soon, all the students present for the assessment took the elevator to the sixth floor.
“Prepare for testing!” On the sixth floor, a man with disheveled hair gave orders to the staff.
After lining up and registering, Wang Kun found himself at the end of the line, with Luo Feng and Yang Wu ahead of him. Time ticked by as Luo Feng, Yang Wu, and five others all passed the first test: punching strength. Only one student failed to clear the initial hurdle.
Finally, Wang Kun’s turn came. He calculated silently, then delivered a punch—the target instantly displayed an impressive 1205 kilograms.
“Excellent! I didn’t expect two such promising young men from Yi’an District this time!” Wu Tong, the chief instructor of the martial arts hall, was clearly pleased.
Jiang Nian, the instructor from Yi’an District, was equally delighted, a bright smile on his face.
The other district instructors could only watch with envy. After all, among the advanced students in their own halls, only a handful could pass the prospective warrior assessment. For someone like Luo Feng or Wang Kun, reaching this stage at just eighteen was even more rare.
After the punching strength test, the group of eight moved on to the speed test. The assessment consisted of three parts: punching strength, speed, and neural response.
After a series of tests, Luo Feng, Yang Wu, and several other students all successfully passed the assessment. Wang Kun, naturally, was no exception; his real strength and speed far exceeded what he’d just demonstrated.
“Congratulations on passing the prospective warrior assessment. Once the official documentation is processed, your information will be entered into the citizen database, and you’ll officially be prospective warriors. On August 1st next month, report to the Limit Club to participate in the live combat assessment.”
Afterward, Wang Kun and Luo Feng signed a series of documents and received the basic gene energy cultivation manual for warriors, known as “Five Hearts Toward the Sky.”
Having completed the assessment and obtained the gene energy cultivation manual, Wang Kun and Luo Feng took the subway back to Yi’an District. Luo Feng, however, didn’t go straight home, but instead went to find his father.
Wang Kun, familiar with the plot, knew that at this point Luo Feng’s father would encounter trouble from the first antagonist, Zhang Haobai. Because of this, Luo Feng would end up in the detention center, and his psychic power would soon awaken explosively.
Though Wang Kun knew all this, there was nothing he could do to intervene.
After a brief farewell with Luo Feng, Wang Kun hurried home, closed his door tightly, opened the system interface, and selected “Claim Reward.”
Ding. Psychic Crystal extracted. Integrate now?
“Integrate!”
In an instant, a metallic psychic crystal merged into Wang Kun’s spiritual sea. A searing pain tore through his mind, and he promptly lost consciousness.
About two hours later, Wang Kun slowly awoke on his bed. As soon as he opened his eyes, he realized his senses had undergone a tremendous transformation. His hearing, vision, and sense of smell were all vastly heightened. At the same time, every object in the room appeared vividly in his mind. Even with his eyes closed, he could precisely sense everything around him.
“Rise!” Wang Kun fixed his gaze on a chair in the room. The chair slowly levitated into the air.
Amused by his new power, Wang Kun spent a while manipulating various objects in the room, moving them at will. Even the bed he lay on was gently lifted into the air by his psychic force.
