Chapter 14: The Dark Horse Project
Several hours later, after a thorough investigation, Zhou Xun finally obtained detailed information about the company developing the Red Chai project.
“So it was him who invested in Red Chai.”
When Zhou Xun learned that the major shareholder behind the company was Wang Kun, he was quite surprised. He couldn’t help but think that this man truly had a unique vision, managing to invest in such a dark horse of a project right from the start.
The current valuation of the project had increased tenfold from its original estimate. And as the user base continued to grow, its market value would keep rising. It was, without a doubt, a high-yield dark horse.
But that wasn’t the most important thing. What mattered more was that the person who brought in investors for the company was Jiang Xiaoguo from his own firm.
This made Zhou Xun distinctly uncomfortable.
He immediately went to find Jiang Xiaoguo, glaring at her.
“Jiang Xiaoguo, I don’t care how you do it. You must secure the second round of financing for the Red Chai project. If you can’t, you might as well resign yourself.”
“Ah! Mr. Zhou, I…”
Zhou Xun shot her another stern look, then began flipping through the documents on his desk.
After work, back in the dormitory, Jiang Xiaoguo complained dejectedly to her two roommates.
“It looks like I’ll have to ask Wang Kun for help again, or else I might be out of a job.”
“What happened?” one of them asked.
Jiang Xiaoguo quickly explained the whole situation to her friends.
After hearing her story, the two looked at her with sympathy.
Time passed swiftly, and over two months soon came to an end.
Inside an apartment dormitory, Liang Shuang was on the phone with her parents.
“Mom, I probably can’t come home for the New Year this year.”
“Does your company give you no holiday for the New Year?”
“This is an entertainment company, so it’s not like other companies!”
“But don’t worry, even though I can’t come home, you’ll be able to see me on television.”
Liang Shuang was very excited as she spoke.
The reason was simple: thanks to Wang Kun’s connections, she had landed several roles on satellite TV programs.
Even though she was just playing minor parts, it was enough to make Liang Shuang, a newcomer to the entertainment industry, happy for a long time.
Over the past period, Wang Kun had arranged her schedule so tightly that she was busy every single day.
As a result, many plotlines originally centered around her did not unfold.
Liang Shuang spent almost all her time in various training programs.
It wasn’t just Liang Shuang; the other female leads—Luo Yan, Jiang Xiaoguo, and Duan Jiabao—also experienced deviations from their original life trajectories.
After her initial period of training and internship, Duan Jiabao was sent by Wang Kun on business trips all over the country.
Thus, what was once a group of four frequently together became a duo.
In the dormitory, after packing her luggage, Jiang Xiaoguo couldn’t help but say to Luo Yan,
“Rock, when I look back, our dorm has really changed a lot these past few months.”
“Liang Shuang is now a star, Big Bao is running around as a manager, and only the two of us live here regularly—it’s really quite deserted.”
“Isn’t peace and quiet better? That way no one bothers me when I’m gaming,” Luo Yan replied, carefree as ever.
Clearly, for her—a diehard gamer—as long as she had games, everything else could be discarded.
After the New Year holiday, Jiang Xiaoguo returned to Shen City to resume her journey in the workplace.
Just a few days after the holiday ended, a major change in shareholders took place at Puling Capital, the company where Jiang Xiaoguo worked.
