Bloody Battle

Bang!

Qiao Wei rushed to the front of the villa and pushed the door open with all her strength. The thick stench of blood assaulted her senses, and the scene inside stunned not only herself but also Luo Chen and Su Mo, who arrived right after.

Qiao Wei could swear this was the bloodiest, most brutal sight she had ever witnessed: human bodies piled into mountains inside the villa, blood drained dry, skin shriveled beyond recognition. Atop the mound of corpses stood a black-haired man—Kernai. His strange dual-colored eyes pierced through the curtain of heavy locks like twin blades, launching eerie attacks at the tall figure standing in the center of the hall. That figure, surrounded by countless vampires, had just incinerated one batch when another surged forward. Luo Xuan had no time to fend off Kernai’s assault; his deep black shirt was soaked through, though it was unclear whether with blood or sweat.

Just as Kernai’s blade-like gaze was about to pierce Luo Xuan’s shoulder blade, Luo Chen set Su Mo down and swiftly deflected the attack. Then, seemingly out of thin air, he summoned a long sword glowing with a ghostly blue light and advanced directly upon Kernai.

Qiao Wei took the broken arrow from Su Mo’s hand and hurried to Luo Xuan’s side. With ruthless determination, she stabbed the broken sword through the hearts of several vampires in quick succession, giving Luo Xuan a brief moment to catch his breath. Regaining a bit of strength, he managed to steady himself, anger blazing in his eyes. In a flash, he incinerated the remaining vampires with roaring flames.

Qiao Wei’s eyes slowly turned crimson, like fresh blood, and her fangs began to emerge. The overwhelming scent of blood drove her beyond control. Luo Xuan, battered and bloody, pulled her into his arms and fed her his own blood, all the while keeping part of his attention fixed on the battle between Luo Chen and Kernai atop the corpse mound. Just days ago, Kernai had been unable to withstand Luo Chen, yet now their fight seemed evenly matched.

Noticing the broken arrow in Qiao Wei’s hand, Luo Xuan snatched it and hurled it forcefully at Kernai. Before Kernai could react, the whistling arrow pinned him against the wall, just missing his heart by mere inches. Enduring the pain, he let out a chilling laugh, his twisted features terrifying to behold. “In the end, you cannot kill me! Ha ha…”

Luo Chen stepped forward, pressing Kernai down and thrusting his luminous sword into Kernai’s shoulder blade. Kernai only grunted, but then at the doorway, Su Mo’s voice rang out, half mocking, half amused: “Oh? But I can pin the angel’s arrow right through your heart.”

Kernai stared at Su Mo in terror as she approached, her face utterly fearless despite the heaps of corpses. Her delicate features bloomed into a rose-red, enchanting smile that sent chills down the spine. Held fast by Luo Chen, Kernai could only watch as Su Mo withdrew the broken arrow. Suddenly, something occurred to him; he fixed his gaze on Qiao Wei—who had just finished drinking blood and was held in Luo Xuan’s arms—and shouted desperately, “You can’t kill me! I know how to turn Qiao Wei back into a human!”

Qiao Wei’s eyes lit up at his words. Despite his grave injuries, Luo Xuan’s voice still carried the commanding authority of a king: “Stop!”

Su Mo’s hand did not pause at his command, but instead stabbed even faster toward Kernai’s heart. At the very moment the arrow was about to penetrate his heart, Luo Chen seized Su Mo’s wrist, halting her action by sheer force.
