Return to the Rose Fields
“Phew, we’re finally here. Dust, are you tired?” After three days of arduous travel, the group at last returned to the rose fields. The atmosphere along the way had been chillingly cold, but Su Mo seemed oblivious, lively as ever, chatting with Luo Chen nonstop.
“I’m fine,” Luo Chen replied, his gaze fixed on Qiao Wei. Qiao Wei was staring, lost in thought, at the deep pit in the center of the flower field—the one that connected to another world. She showed no intention of leaving.
Luo Xuan stepped forward and took Qiao Wei’s hand, his voice gentle and tender. “Qiao Qiao, let’s go back to the villa and rest for a while. You’re still sensitive to blood right now, and you need to recover.”
“I just want to go back and take a look, just once. Please…” The chill in Qiao Wei’s voice had faded considerably. Luo Xuan’s careful treatment over the past few days had softened her attitude.
Luo Xuan frowned slightly, about to object, but Luo Chen spoke first. “I’ll take her.”
“No need!” Qiao Wei glanced at Luo Chen out of the corner of her eye, a distant expression flickering across her gaze. Without another word, she leapt into the pit and vanished in a beam of light.
Luo Chen quickly followed, jumping in after her. Su Mo, standing nearby, wore a look of disdain on her delicate face and let out a cold snort. Suddenly, Luo Xuan’s voice rang out, “You’re always good at playing both sides, aren’t you, Su Mo?”
Su Mo heard Luo Xuan’s chilly tone, and memories played out in her mind like a film. She replied lightly, “I was at fault back then, Your Highness Luo Xuan, but the debt I owed you disappeared the day I died. Why bother holding a grudge?”
“That makes me seem petty, but I’m just giving you a warning. I don’t care what happens between you and Luo Chen, but don’t think you can fool me. If you harm Qiao Wei out of jealousy, I’ll make history repeat itself before you can.”
Luo Xuan smiled, but his gaze was sharp as a blade as it fell on Su Mo.
Su Mo was startled, but she forced herself to remain composed as she met Luo Xuan’s gaze, her voice clear and unruffled. “Of course I won’t.”
Luo Xuan said nothing more, heading toward the villa, and Su Mo quickly followed.
As they reached the villa, a chilling wind swept toward them, carrying a faint scent of blood. The sharp cries of ‘Prisoner’ could be heard in the distance. Su Mo looked at Luo Xuan with grave concern. “Do you smell the blood? There seem to be a lot of vampires here.”
Luo Xuan’s face grew cold and stern. He strode inside, his voice emotionless. “Go back to the flower field. Have Luo Chen protect Qiao Wei. Hurry.” He suddenly produced the broken arrow, handing it to Su Mo with a gesture to take it.
Su Mo accepted the arrow and was about to leave when several vampires suddenly appeared from nowhere, blocking her path. Their fangs bared, they nearly lunged at her. Su Mo raised the broken arrow to attack, but Luo Xuan slowly turned around. The crimson light in his eyes reduced the vampires to ashes in an instant. Su Mo gritted her teeth, clenched the broken arrow tightly, and hurried away toward the rose fields.
