“We’re off, then.” Early in the morning, Qiao Wei and Luo Xuan were already up. Before leaving, Qiao Wei waved to Luo Chen and Rhine, then set out. Luo Chen’s gaze was cold and sharp, his eyes fixed on the direction Qiao Wei had departed, his mood clearly displeased.

Rhine, smiling sweetly, sidled up to Luo Chen and said, “Brother Luo Chen, let’s go have some fun too. It’s so miserable to stay cooped up at home.”

“You go by yourself,” Luo Chen replied, turning and heading back to his room, leaving Rhine alone outside. Rhine forced a bitter smile and murmured to herself, “Is there still no place for me? But... in Brother Luo Chen’s heart, is it Su Mo or Qiao Wei?”

Meanwhile, Qiao Wei was having a wonderful time. Luo Xuan took her to an open field, where the fresh air, tinged with the scent of earth, lifted Qiao Wei’s spirits. Watching her satisfaction, Luo Xuan put on an air of mystery and said, “I’m taking you to see something. But you have to close your eyes.”

Obediently, Qiao Wei shut her eyes. Luo Xuan picked her up and swiftly carried her to a vast meadow, where several ancient windmills stood motionless.

“You can open your eyes now.” Luo Xuan gently tapped Qiao Wei’s forehead. She opened her eyes, and the sight of the windmills made her cry out in delight, “Such beautiful windmills! But there’s no wind, so they won’t turn.”

Just as Qiao Wei was lamenting the lack of wind, a strange breeze suddenly swept in from afar, and the windmills began to creak and spin. Luo Xuan blinked, satisfied, and laughed, “There we go. Are you happy now, Qiao Qiao?”

“Mmm... Brother Luo Xuan, you’re amazing!” Qiao Wei watched the windmills turn round and round, feeling as though she’d returned to her childhood.

Luo Xuan turned his face away, feigning casualness, and asked, “So, what do you think of vampires, Qiao Qiao?”

“They’re pretty good!” Qiao Wei replied absent-mindedly. “They live a long time, and they’re really strong.”

“That’s good.” Luo Xuan sighed with relief, his pale fangs flashing. While Qiao Wei was still unaware, Luo Xuan quietly drew close and bit her neck, breaking the skin. The bite was gentle, but still stung a little. Qiao Wei stared in disbelief as Luo Xuan drank her blood, nearly forgetting to resist.

Suddenly, Luo Xuan stopped. He bit his own wrist and forced Qiao Wei to drink his blood. Then, he whispered persuasively, “Forget what happened here. Today was a happy day, and nothing happened at all.”

“Alright,” Qiao Wei replied, her eyes empty, nodding quietly as she sat in silence. Luo Xuan lay back, breathing heavily. Qiao Wei’s blood was so sweet that he nearly lost control. He could only hope that, should she ever remember, she wouldn’t be afraid of him.

To avoid any misunderstanding, Yu Ning offers an explanation: Qiao Wei did not become a vampire. The conditions for transformation are that a vampire drinks human blood and then feeds their own blood to the human, but the most crucial step is to kill the human within seventy-two hours for the process to begin. During the transformation, the new vampire must continuously consume fresh human blood to successfully shed their humanity. If they do not feed, they will turn to ashes.
