Qiao Wei anxiously searched for Luo Chen along the streets, and finally found him in a narrow alley. She hurried over and grabbed his arm, only to realize that Luo Chen seemed to be trapped in a deep slumber, utterly unresponsive. Biting her lip, Qiao Wei spoke to Su Mo’s soul within the pendant, “Su Mo, what should I do? He won’t wake up!”

“Focus your mind. Enter his heart and bring him back out; otherwise, both of you will die!” Su Mo’s voice sounded from within the pendant.

Qiao Wei gritted her teeth and concentrated. A flash of white light burst forth, and she entered Luo Chen’s inner world.

Here, light snow drifted from the sky, thickening the chill in the air. Qiao Wei hugged herself, walking slowly across the snowy ground, shivering from the biting cold.

Suddenly, she spotted Luo Chen’s figure ahead. The snow around him was stained crimson with blood. Qiao Wei rushed over and saw Luo Chen holding a pale-faced girl in his arms—Su Mo. His dark red eyes were filled with grief and despair. He sat on the snow, clutching Su Mo tightly to his chest, while snowflakes fell silently upon them, intensifying the cold and sorrow.

Qiao Wei’s heart ached so much it felt as though she couldn’t breathe. She’d never realized that Luo Chen’s icy exterior was the result of such a deep wound within. Even though she had heard Luo Xuan mention this before, witnessing it now allowed her to truly feel the grief and hopelessness in Luo Chen’s heart...

She approached, gently shaking Luo Chen’s arm, her voice trembling with emotion. “Luo Chen, don’t dwell on this. Let’s go back…”

Luo Chen didn’t look at her. He simply gazed at Su Mo’s pale face in his arms, and after a long moment, he spoke in a low voice, “I want to stay with her. You should leave.”

Qiao Wei’s heart clenched tighter. She tried to persuade him again, “Luo Chen, this is just an illusion. Come back with me—don’t do this.”

Luo Chen pushed her hand away, saying nothing, and gently tidied Su Mo’s hair. Qiao Wei’s tears fell uncontrollably. In desperation, she slapped him hard across the face, then shouted at him in a fit of hysteria, “You should have let her go a long time ago! You’re always lost in her absence, blind to anyone else’s care for you! Can’t you see how much you’re hurting others? Su Mo is gone! She’ll never come back! This is all an illusion, all your inner demons! Someone who always lives in the past like you is nothing but a failure—a useless failure!”

Luo Chen jolted awake. The form of Su Mo in his arms vanished, and in front of him, Qiao Wei stood trembling in the snow, her eyes brimming with tears.

Seeing that Luo Chen had finally awakened, Qiao Wei rushed forward and hugged him. The icy cold radiating from his body made her tears flow even harder from the ache in her heart. She tried to speak, but her voice was choked with sobs, unable to utter a single word; she could only weep softly.

Luo Chen gently wrapped his arms around her, lowered his head, and murmured in her ear, his voice barely above a whisper, “I’m sorry, Qiao Wei. Thank you.”

Qiao Wei froze. The world around them began to shift—the snowy field disappeared, and they were back in the alleyway. Luo Chen slowly let go of her. Though his face was still expressionless, the coldness in his eyes was gone. He took her by the hand and led her back to the ancient house they had entered at the beginning.
