Who broke whose heart?
Qiao Wei lifted her glass of Baileys and took a sip, speaking slowly, “Brother Luo Xuan, your special ability is mind reading, isn’t it?”
A hint of surprise flickered in Luo Xuan’s eyes; he admired Qiao Wei’s perceptiveness. “Qiao Qiao, you’re truly sharp, I must admit. I thought you were just a silly girl.”
“Hmph, as an apology for spying on my thoughts, hurry up and tell me what you know.” Qiao Wei smiled innocently at Luo Xuan.
“There’s nothing I can do about you. You treat me like an intelligence bureau.” Luo Xuan sighed, feigning helplessness, suppressing the struggle within his heart, and continued, “Luo Chen doesn’t genuinely like you. His gentleness towards you is just an act. Don’t take it seriously, or you’ll only end up hurting yourself. I know you like him. As for Rhine, it’s obvious she likes Luo Chen too, isn’t it? That’s why she dislikes you.”
An indescribable sadness welled up in Qiao Wei’s eyes, yet she stubbornly retorted, “Who says I like him?” She paused, then spoke with a trace of disappointment, “Brother Luo Xuan, do you think it’s because I resemble Su Mo that he treats me this way?”
Luo Xuan avoided Qiao Wei’s gaze, feeling a pang of guilt. He was silent for a while, then answered quietly, “Perhaps.”
Qiao Wei stared at the white liquid in her Baileys glass, her heart sour and uncomfortable. A single tear slid silently down her cheek and fell into the cup. Both of them lowered their heads, lost in their own thoughts.
Suddenly, the door of the bar was pushed open with force. Luo Chen appeared, his arrival unnoticed. He angrily grabbed Qiao Wei, trying to drag her outside. Luo Xuan quickly reached out and grabbed Qiao Wei’s wrist, saying, “She’s not your property.”
Luo Chen suppressed his anger and said, “It’s none of your business, she’s—”
“I don’t need you interfering. Take back your so-called gentleness—I’m not Su Mo, so don’t treat me as her.” Qiao Wei broke free from Luo Chen’s grasp, her voice cold.
At these words, Luo Chen’s eyes, once filled with fury, suddenly grew cold. His gaze fell on Luo Xuan like a blade. He replied icily, “Do as you wish.” With that, Luo Chen strode out of the bar. His desolate figure made Qiao Wei’s heart ache to the point she could hardly breathe.
Luo Xuan gently patted Qiao Wei’s head, speaking softly, “It’ll feel better if you cry.”
Unable to hold back any longer, Qiao Wei sobbed, crouching to the ground and covering her face with her hands. She wanted to stop crying, but the tears wouldn’t cease. Luo Xuan sighed and knelt beside her, like a caring elder brother, gently patting her back.
Outside the window, a pair of dark red eyes watched them for a long time before slowly leaving.
