Qiao Wei followed Luo Chen to the castle where he had first carried her. Remembering that day, her cheeks flushed at the thought of being held in his arms.

Luo Chen pushed open the door and lounged lazily on the sofa. Qiao Wei walked over and gave him a light pat. “Why aren’t you packing yet?”

Luo Chen looked at her helplessly and said, “Miss Qiao, I just got home—can’t you let me catch my breath?”

Qiao Wei sat down and rubbed her swollen, reddened ankle, muttering, “Aren’t you a vampire? How could you get tired?”

“That’s because I haven’t had enough to eat,” Luo Chen replied, sitting up and leaning closer to her. “If you don’t mind, may I have some of your blood?”

Frightened, Qiao Wei shrank back, but Luo Chen only laughed. “Coward.”

“Childish!” Qiao Wei retorted with disdain, looking at Luo Chen. He seemed provoked by her words, grabbing her wrist and growling, “I’ve lived for thousands of years more than you—how dare you call me childish?!”

This time, Qiao Wei met his gaze unflinchingly. “If you truly weren’t childish, would you fuss over such petty things?”

Luo Chen looked unconvinced but let go of her wrist, saying irritably, “I’m going to look for the map. Wait here.”

Sitting on the sofa, Qiao Wei checked her watch. Suddenly, Rhine appeared out of nowhere. She seized Qiao Wei, bared her fangs, and bit viciously into her neck. Qiao Wei felt the blood draining from her body, wanted to struggle, but had no strength and couldn’t utter a sound. Just as she thought she was about to die, Luo Chen burst from another room and flung Rhine several meters away.

Rhine wiped the blood from the corner of her lips, her violet eyes fixed hatefully on Qiao Wei, making her shudder in fear. Luo Chen looked at Rhine coldly, a trace of distaste on his face. “Wretch. Don’t think I won’t kill you. If you ever do anything to displease me again, I’ll burn you to ashes.”

A mist of tears clouded Rhine’s eyes. Pointing at Qiao Wei, she screamed at Luo Chen, “She’s the real whore! She and Su Mo are both whores! I...”

A dark look flashed in Luo Chen’s eyes as he strode over and snapped Rhine’s neck in one swift motion. Qiao Wei stared in shock, grabbing his sleeve and trembling. “How could you just kill her?”

Luo Chen shook off her hand impatiently. “She’ll come back to life in a while. Weren’t you the one always urging me to leave? Let’s go.”

Qiao Wei glanced uneasily at the body on the floor. Seeing that Luo Chen had already walked off, she hurried to catch up.

After some time, Rhine slowly picked herself up from the floor. Both of them were gone. She sat there in a daze, tears streaming down her face, her muffled sobs echoing through the empty hall, unbearably desolate.
