Wang Hong was a little busy. The Swan Group had recently undergone numerous business adjustments, leading to frequent personnel changes across the board. The security recruitment yesterday, for them, was actually a trivial matter.

Ordinarily, business adjustments are supposed to be beneficial for the development of the group, but for reasons unknown, Wang Hong had noticed that Manager Liang’s expression had been less than cheerful lately. Whenever she caught a glimpse of President Wei, she sensed a faint cloud of melancholy shadowing her face.

From her position, it was impossible to learn much about the inner workings of the group. Regardless of what transpired, all she could do was quietly focus on her own tasks.

Today was as busy as ever. She had looked forward to meeting Hua Tianyu, who had just started yesterday, but it was already afternoon and he had yet to appear. Then she remembered: he was the security guard specially appointed by the president, and her anticipation faded.

As she massaged her aching neck and looked up, she suddenly saw a man standing by her desk, a lazy smile playing across his lips.

Hua Tianyu!

“Ah... What brings you here?” Wang Hong startled. Seeing the man she’d been waiting for suddenly appear before her, she instinctively smoothed her slightly messy bangs and straightened her posture, only to catch Hua Tianyu’s smile growing even broader.

Yesterday, she’d admired her figure from afar—well-proportioned and graceful. Now, up close, after a few minutes of observation... those two little white rabbits were truly impressive. Most importantly, she was still a budding flower, full of potential for development. Like a fresh blossom about to bloom in romantic splendor—wasn’t that enough to drive anyone mad?

She rose from her seat, heart fluttering like a startled fawn, and tried to control her breathing. “Thank you for yesterday!”

Hua Tianyu waved his hand dismissively. “No need for formalities, don’t give it another thought. If you really feel embarrassed, just offer yourself to me, and it’ll all be settled.”

A blush flickered across Wang Hong’s cheeks as she cast him a coquettish glance. “Are you free tomorrow evening? I’d like to thank you with a meal.”

“When a beauty invites me, I must go. Even if I’m busy, I’ll make time. It’s settled, then—not meeting is not an option.” Hua Tianyu extended his hand for a high five.

Wang Hong hesitated for a second, then her delicate hand lightly slapped his palm.

“Ahem...” Liang Hui had somehow appeared behind Hua Tianyu. “No personal conversations during work hours. If it’s irrelevant to the job, save it for after.”

“Alright, Sister Liang,” Wang Hong replied, mischievously winking. She knew that Liang Hui, for all her stern appearance, was warm-hearted beneath the surface and wasn’t truly scolding her.

“And another thing: as a woman, you need to learn how to protect yourself and distinguish between good and bad people. Some people don’t look trustworthy. It’s best to keep your distance, especially when dining alone.” Liang Hui eyed Hua Tianyu as she spoke to Wang Hong.

Hua Tianyu was amused. It seemed that after the episode in the president’s office, this lady harbored a grudge against him—and quite a misunderstanding, too.

He chuckled. “Did you know that eavesdropping on others brings bad luck? For example, no man ever pursues you…”

Liang Hui ignored him. Though she was nearly thirty and unmarried, it wasn’t for lack of suitors. Her figure and appearance were well-maintained; many men had pursued her, but as an educated woman, she found none of them worthy.

“Don’t worry, Sister Liang. Hua Tianyu is a good person. If not for him yesterday, I wouldn’t know what to do.” Wang Hong defended him.

Liang Hui was familiar with the incident at the HR department yesterday, yet she couldn’t reconcile the courageous man from that day with the one before her now.

Hua Tianyu looked at her with a disappointed gaze. “Liang Hui, when it comes to judging character, the gap between you and Wang Hong is not just a little.”

“And to add, I’m not just a good person—I’m an exceptionally handsome one. So handsome that everyone loves me, even flowers bloom for me.”

Liang Hui had never encountered such a narcissist. She turned away, her face cold, and strode toward the door in her high heels. “President Wei called earlier and informed me of your upcoming duties. Follow me.”

Her silhouette was nearly perfect. The tailored suit accentuated her curves, the black stockings and heels outlined her long legs, instantly drawing Hua Tianyu’s gaze.

After a few steps, he began to mutter, “She looks great from behind, so why doesn’t she have men chasing her? Let me think... Could it be because she’s too fierce?”

Liang Hui’s stride paused for five or six seconds. Then, stamping her heels emphatically, she marched out even faster.

“Hey, don’t walk so fast! I’m not familiar with Swan Tower. What if I get lost and end up in the president’s office again?” Hua Tianyu’s voice drifted behind, but Liang Hui never slowed.

...

Swan Tower Security Department.

Liang Hui pointed to Hua Tianyu and addressed a man of about forty. “Cheng Feng, this is Hua Tianyu, the group’s new security guard. Everyone, get acquainted. Please arrange his duties.”

Cheng Feng nodded. “Certainly, Manager Liang. No problem.”

Once Liang Hui walked away, Cheng Feng dropped into his chair, propped his feet on the desk, and began scrutinizing Hua Tianyu from head to toe.

For five minutes, Cheng Feng said nothing; Hua Tianyu, equally silent, watched the security manager with a playful gaze.

Finally, Cheng Feng couldn’t stand it anymore and cleared his throat. “Most people report in the morning—why are you here only in the afternoon?”

“I went out with President Wei to handle some matters this morning,” Hua Tianyu replied calmly. It was the truth, nothing to hide.

Yet this simple admission stirred up a storm in the security office.

Shi Yi put down his phone game, face full of sarcasm. “Out on business... with President Wei? You must have heard somewhere that our president’s surname is Wei and now you’re trying to brag?”

He was Cheng Feng’s brother-in-law and a notable figure in the security department.

The others, previously chatting, perked up. “Yesterday, I had dinner with the President of the Eagle Sauce Country. Believe it?”

“Yeah, right!”

“Don’t doubt me! We even chatted—he told me his surname is Te, and he’s called Te Reliable, ha ha!”

“I say, newcomer, are you also surnamed Te? Or maybe... Te Braggy?”

Cheng Feng sneered, casting a sideways glance to see how Hua Tianyu would respond, only to find him leisurely turning his head, surveying the security office.

So calm—it was unexpected.
