Chapter 59: Not for Sale
Lin Lin was somewhat surprised by Hua Tianyu’s decision. After all, even though he was the head of security at Swan Group, his monthly salary didn’t quite match the rent for Jin Hai Garden. She’d originally hoped the rent from this apartment could offset some expenses, but if she didn’t rent it out now... Lin Lin hesitated, glancing at Hua Tianyu.
After all, Star Whisper Bar was just a small establishment.
Seeing the look in her eyes, Hua Tianyu immediately understood. He waved his hand nonchalantly and said, “You don’t need to worry about money. As long as I’m here, it’s not a problem!”
“Wow, Brother Tian, are you one of those legendary hidden millionaires?” Xia Yang’s eyes shone with envy at his words.
“Brother Tian, take me with you!”
“Brother Tian, let’s share the wealth!”
Hua Tianyu pondered for a couple of seconds. “All converted to Genesis credits, want some?”
Everyone fell silent.
Hua Tianyu laughed heartily, ignoring their stunned expressions, and said, “Let’s pack up anything from Lin Lin’s father’s room that can be taken, and restore whatever can’t be moved.”
“Lin Lin, you should leave a few things in your dad’s room too, as keepsakes for him.”
Lin Lin nodded with a hint of sorrow.
Very quickly, the room was tidied up according to Hua Tianyu’s instructions. Everyone carried something, more or less, as they headed out. Xia Yang took the lead, eager to fetch his van so they could load everything up.
Outside the building, Jiang Liliang and the men from Yongxing Hall finally arrived at the Tiantong Road complex.
Over forty people, all but Jiang Liliang dressed in black or gray, arrived in a grand procession. Eight business vans drove into the compound one after another, their windows tightly shut, making it impossible to see inside.
The vans stopped in front of the building. From the first vehicle, a man in black jumped out, swiftly opened the door of the van in the middle, bent low and said, “Boss Jiang, this is the place.”
Jiang Liliang nodded slightly and stepped out, scrutinizing the somewhat dilapidated building in front of him. A flash of ruthless intent flickered in his gaze.
More than forty men exited the vans behind him, the eight vehicles forming a semicircle and blocking every possible exit from the building.
The commotion was so loud that even the usually indifferent security guards of the complex had to come over to investigate.
“What are you people doing here?” The security guard who came over was short and wore a shabby uniform. Seeing such a display, his scalp tingled with fear.
Jiang Liliang didn’t even turn his head, as if he hadn’t heard. Wan Rong merely glanced at the guard without a word.
Seeing this, two men in black immediately blocked the guard with their bodies.
“Yongxing Hall business, out of the way!”
“I’m telling you, this is a residential area, you can’t—” The guard tried to protest, his voice growing quieter.
“Too much nonsense,” Wan Rong spat out menacingly before he could finish.
The two men in black didn’t waste any more words. One on each side, they grabbed the guard and, ignoring his struggles, dragged him away.
The guard was hauled into the roadside bushes, where cries of pain soon rang out, only to fade away after a while.
No one else dared interfere. Only a few curious faces peered from behind curtained windows.
Jiang Liliang’s gaze landed on Xia Yang’s van. A nearby subordinate in black bowed and reported, “That vehicle belongs to Hua Tianyu and his crew.”
“Smash it!” Jiang Liliang barked, pointing at the van.
Immediately, half of the forty men split off, drawing pipes and baseball bats from behind their backs, and set to work with a vengeance.
Clang! Clang!
The sound of metal and bats pounding on the van echoed piercingly through the night, but this time, no one dared step forward to stop them.
Residents who had been peeking quickly slammed their windows shut, not even daring to call the police for fear of getting caught up in trouble.
When Xia Yang came out, he saw his van being smashed to pieces by more than twenty men. Faced with such a show of force, he turned pale and retreated.
“Brother Tian, there are dozens of people outside, they’ve surrounded us—and they’ve wrecked my van!”
“Do you know them?” Hua Tianyu asked calmly.
“No, but they all look tough!” Xia Yang might not have been much of a fighter, but his eyes were sharp enough.
“Let’s go take a look!” Tian Li, who now admired Hua Tianyu blindly, didn’t care who or what was outside. Without a second thought, she grabbed his arm and headed out.
“Wait a moment!” This time, Lin Lin showed some authority.
“Xia Yang, go and get a clear count of their numbers, and check if they’re carrying real weapons,” she instructed.
By “real weapons,” she meant things like machetes and knives.
Because the authorities in Huaxia were strict about managing the underworld, people’s safety was well-protected and the quality of life was high, so large weapons were strictly forbidden.
Xia Yang agreed and was about to head out when Hua Tianyu said loudly, “No need. I’ll go out. You all stay here and wait for me.”
“Brother Tian…” Tian Li called after him, but didn’t finish.
“I’ll go with you. I can take on a few myself!” Lin Lin took a deep breath and clenched her fists. When it came to fighting, she’d never been afraid of anyone.
A faint smile played on Hua Tianyu’s lips. She really was Lin Luohua’s daughter.
Although he didn’t need Lin Lin’s help, having her along would let him see her skills while ensuring everyone’s safety.
“I’m coming too! One-on-one, I can manage!” Tian Li stepped forward as well, her eyes darting as she grabbed a frying pan from someone nearby.
“Let’s go! I can handle one myself!” Xia Yang found a crowbar from somewhere and, without waiting for anyone else to speak, strode out.
A frying pan and a crowbar?
Hua Tianyu noted their “weapons” with a sense of familiarity.
After a moment’s thought, he nodded and said, “Winner, winner, chicken dinner tonight!”
“Let’s go! With Brother Tian, it’s winner, winner, chicken dinner!” The rest burst out laughing, the earlier tension melting away.
Everyone armed themselves with something handy from the room and followed Hua Tianyu out.
As soon as they stepped outside, Jiang Liliang’s voice boomed.
“Hua Tianyu!”
A group emerged from the building, and Jiang Liliang instantly recognized the one at the front.
He’d never met Hua Tianyu before, but from the stories told by Jiang Yong, Skinny Dog, and Fat Dog, he had memorized his face.
Hua Tianyu raised his eyebrows, glanced around, and asked, “Do we know each other?”
