Hua Tianyu watched Rong Xinyuan’s excitement and his scolding of Zheng Maoshi with a calm detachment, but inwardly he felt a trace of disdain. Was it really worth all this fuss? All he’d done was take the security system from the Eagle Nation’s presidential palace, make a few modifications, and set it up here. Was that really enough to get this man so worked up? And this was supposed to be their technical director?

Forget it, he thought, I can’t be bothered to stoop to his level.

He stood up, waved a hand at Rong Xinyuan, and said, “I’m not going.”

With that, he pulled out his chair and headed for the door.

Just as he was about to leave, Hua Tianyu suddenly turned back and asked Rong Xinyuan, “Can I ask you something? Is your company’s president more beautiful than our boss Xue Ying?”

“Uh? No, no, our president is a man,” Rong Xinyuan answered, startled.

“Oh, then I’m even less interested!” Hua Tianyu spread his hands in mock regret. “If your company really wants me, you’ll have to poach our boss Xue Ying to be your president first. Then maybe I’ll consider coming over.”

He was joking, of course. Even if their president was a woman and happened to be more beautiful than Wei Xue Ying, Swan International still held the perfect gene evolution technology, and the hope for Dragon Soul’s revenge rested on that. What could Hongwei Security possibly offer in comparison?

“Uh… well…” Rong Xinyuan was left speechless. If they poached President Wei to be their president, what would happen to their own president? Would their company still be called Hongwei Security, or would it become Swan Security instead?

“Hua! Tian! Yu!” Wei Xue Ying gritted her teeth as she watched Hua Tianyu’s retreating figure, feeling an almost irresistible urge to throttle him.

He’d actually asked if Hongwei Security’s president was more beautiful than her?

What on earth was going on in that head of his?

If she were more beautiful, would he really just leave like that? Hmph! A typical philanderer!

“Meeting adjourned!” Wei Xue Ying cast a cold glance at the others in the meeting room, then turned and strode out without another word.

“Ah!” Watching the two of them leave one after the other, Rong Xinyuan let out a deep sigh of disappointment and began tidying up the table.

His mind was awash with thoughts. Talented people always carried a certain pride. Perhaps it was because Hongwei hadn’t treated him well from the start? Or maybe he thought Hongwei had no prospects?

Rong Xinyuan’s thoughts were simple—he genuinely admired Hua Tianyu’s modifications and wanted to learn from him.

Suddenly, an idea struck him. Since Hua Tianyu wasn’t willing to come to Hongwei…

He could go to Swan International instead. If Hua Tianyu was working as a security guard, he could do the same!

Realizing this, he suddenly grew excited.

“Let’s go! Time to head back,” he said, leading the other two out of the meeting room as well.

Only Cheng Feng remained seated, his expression shifting unpredictably as he sat in silence, lost in his own thoughts.

Leaving the meeting, Hua Tianyu went straight to the nineteenth floor biological laboratory. All those things on Hongwei’s proposal were just surface-level measures. For the perfect gene evolution technology, still in its infancy, if they wanted to implement covert protection, much more would need to be agreed upon with Shu Yue.

Today, Shu Yue’s style was utterly different from the athletic, casual look she’d worn the night before. Though she wore a simple white lab coat, it did nothing to conceal her graceful curves. Her delicate features and fair neck only further accentuated her scholarly beauty.

Hua Tianyu was momentarily entranced—he hadn’t expected a plain white coat to highlight Shu Yue’s elegance so strikingly.

Shu Yue waved her hand in front of his eyes, breaking his reverie, then smiled and asked, “So, tell me, what brings you here?”

Hua Tianyu cleared his throat, withdrew his gaze, and produced several black, coin-sized circular patches.

Shu Yue picked one up, turning it over and over in her hand, but couldn’t make out what it was. “What’s this?” she asked curiously.

Hua Tianyu paused thoughtfully for a couple of seconds. “This is a Genesis Coin. Would you like to buy it?”

Shu Yue was speechless.

He’d come all the way to the nineteenth floor just to sell her Genesis Coins?

Wait… did Genesis Coins even look like this?

Weren’t Genesis Coins for subscribing to and tipping Tender Onion’s books?

Wait… who on earth was Tender Onion?!

Meanwhile, Hua Tianyu had already strolled deeper into the lab. “Come on, I didn’t get a chance last night. Today, I want to see how your lab is really set up.”

Hearing Shu Yue’s footsteps behind him, Hua Tianyu explained, “This gadget—I call it a Black Sprite. It’s the latest technological product from Hua Nation. It can detect any movement within a thirty-meter radius.”

“Really?” Shu Yue played with the small device in her hand, marveling at its mysterious composition and the high-tech feel it exuded.

“How did you get your hands on something like this?” Shu Yue asked, her bright eyes fixed on Hua Tianyu with keen interest.

Hua Tianyu hesitated for a few seconds. “I traded for it with Genesis Coins.”

Shu Yue fell silent again.

“Hmph, forget it if you don’t want to say,” Shu Yue muttered. She could guess that this man must have secrets of his own. Since he wasn’t willing to share, and he bore her no ill will, there was no need to pry.

Hua Tianyu smiled faintly, flicked his finger, and a Black Sprite silently adhered itself to a hidden corner.

The laboratory was bustling with Swan International employees—some with heads down, busy with work, others greeting Shu Yue with warm smiles.

Shu Yue introduced Hua Tianyu to the main research staff, and he quietly committed their faces to memory.

As for the Black Sprites, Hua Tianyu took advantage of unguarded moments to discreetly flick them into unnoticed corners. Except for Shu Yue, no one else in the lab was aware of their existence.

After touring most of the lab, a closed door caught Hua Tianyu’s attention. “What’s this room?” he asked.

“Oh, that’s my rest area and dressing room,” Shu Yue replied.

Because she was in charge of the entire research operation, Shu Yue often worked late into the night, so the lab had set aside a private room for her as a place to rest.

“This room absolutely must have a Black Sprite installed,” Hua Tianyu told Shu Yue gravely.

He would never joke about such things. A dressing room—or, rather, a rest area—without a Black Sprite? That just wouldn’t do.

“But… I often change my clothes in there,” Shu Yue protested, suddenly picturing herself in nothing but underwear as Hua Tianyu spied on her. A faint blush dusted her cheeks.

“Which is exactly why it needs one…” Hua Tianyu muttered under his breath.

“What did you say?” Shu Yue didn’t catch his words.

“I said, don’t worry,” Hua Tianyu replied solemnly. “The images and sounds from the Black Sprite are invisible to everyone but me.”

“And no matter what I see, I’ll keep it to myself and never breathe a word,” he added, feigning righteous sincerity as he continued to fool Shu Yue.
