Chapter 156: Depending on Him
Hua Tianyu smiled slightly and said, "The reason is very simple. When I announced the recruitment rules just now and asked those people to spar with Han Yan, they all showed utter disdain for my arrangement, thinking it was absurd. They all put on an air of 'a gentleman does not fight with women' and refused to fight Han Yan!"
"Aren't they right to do that? They are the ones with true manners!" Han Yan dismissed Hua Tianyu's reasoning with contempt.
Hua Tianyu shook his head and said, "I told you not to meddle in the recruitment process, but you wouldn't listen. What are we hiring for today? We are hiring security guards for the Swan Group!"
"Whether they are gentlemen with good manners is none of my concern. What I care about is what their job is!"
"Their job is to protect the safety of the Swan Group!"
"If one day, a female adversary comes to the Swan Group to cause trouble, and these men are so full of manners and chivalry that they hesitate to use force, will they be able to bring the worsening situation under control at the very first moment?"
"Surely you don't believe that in this world, all bad guys are male and none are female?"
Hua Tianyu laid out his reasons step by step.
Liang Hui's eyes widened, left speechless.
Han Yan's eyes widened, left speechless.
Everyone, including those who had been eliminated, also widened their eyes, speechless.
Silence fell over the scene for a moment.
What Hua Tianyu said made complete sense!
"Do not let rigid thinking limit your imagination. Many hostile foreign forces have complex member structures; they are by no means exclusively male. Women and children are often their members or tools they utilize. The slightest oversight or momentary flash of pity can result in catastrophic losses!" Hua Tianyu added.
"Brother Tian, you are truly amazing!" Wang Hong, who was in charge of recording the recruitment details, gave a thumbs up and praised in admiration.
Not only could Brother Tian come up with such a brilliant idea, but his powers of observation and memory were also astonishing.
With over eighty people talking all at once in a noisy clutter, he had managed to remember every single person who objected, and in the end, point them all out without a single omission. That was simply incredible!
Wang Hong couldn't have managed that even with pen and paper in hand, yet Hua Tianyu had accomplished it purely from memory!
Brother Tian is mighty!
The twenty-odd people who were called out were left utterly speechless by Hua Tianyu's words and could only leave the recruitment site in dejection.
The remaining candidates immediately perked up, raising their alertness to the maximum, ready to face the security manager's unpredictable interviews.
Next came the pre-arranged exercise devised by Hua Tianyu: the candidates were strapped with sandbags and instructed to run laps around the open ground, with the last twenty runners being eliminated.
In the end, Wang Zhengwei finished in first place, while Bai Erbin was once again eliminated, looking utterly helpless. Due to physical limitations, he could no longer blame anyone else.
Rong Xinyuan had some decent luck. Although he did not make a living with his physical strength, thanks to his regular workout habits, his running time was quite respectable, and he avoided elimination.
Hua Tianyu immediately took note of Wang Zhengwei. Based on his observations, Wang Zhengwei must have been a soldier who had recently been discharged from the military.
With nearly forty people remaining at the end, Hua Tianyu announced that they were all hired, causing them to completely lower their guard.
Only then did he have Cui Quan and a few other security guards stage a scene, disguised as thugs collecting protection fees.
As a result, this play exposed the true colors of quite a few among the forty candidates. Those who valued their lives above all else and those who cowered in fear—over a dozen people in total—were all eliminated.
Out of eighty-six candidates, through three rounds of screening, exactly twenty-five people remained.
Rong Xinyuan had long held an attitude of deep admiration toward Hua Tianyu, and since he already knew Cui Quan and the others, the act hadn't fooled him at all.
Hua Tianyu had never intended to eliminate him anyway; his security department still had a demand for people with specialized technical skills.
Overall, Hua Tianyu was quite satisfied with these twenty-five individuals, especially Wang Zhengwei, who followed orders impeccably, possessed excellent physical stamina, and showed guts and tenacity—he was the epitome of a standard Chinese soldier!
"Liang Hui, hire all twenty-five of these people. Please help them sign contracts with a three-month probation period," Hua Tianyu instructed.
"Understood," Liang Hui nodded in agreement. She had zero objections to Hua Tianyu's hiring decisions!
Everyone present felt a deep sense of respect and conviction toward Hua Tianyu's three-round interview process from the bottom of their hearts, including those who had already been eliminated.
"Hmph! What's so great about it?!" Han Yan had kept quiet since the start of the second round. Now that all the recruitment was over, deep down she too was convinced by Hua Tianyu's capability, but her pride refused to let her fully admit defeat verbally.
She hadn't forgotten the purpose of her visit today. After all, because of this guy, her father—who had never once scolded her before—had given her a fierce tongue-lashing over the phone.
However, reluctant submission aside, what's done was done, and since everyone had witnessed it firsthand, she couldn't stir up any more trouble.
Hearing Han Yan's remark, Hua Tianyu gave a faint smile and said, "You're right, these people aren't anything extraordinary; after all, they're just ordinary folks. But after these three rounds of assessments, the people I've hired should have no problem handling routine emergencies."
There was one more thing Hua Tianyu kept to himself: today, he had deliberately included a physical endurance test to select promising raw talent for the long-term development of the Swan Group's security team. With proper training, these people might not be able to take on ten men each right away, but taking on two or three each would be an absolute certainty.
Right now, the total number of security guards at the Swan Group looked smaller than when he had first arrived, but their quality had undergone a qualitative leap forward.
Hua Tianyu could guarantee that if given a month to train these guards, should any group resembling the Green-Haired Gang ever show up again, they would undoubtedly find themselves at a complete disadvantage against these security personnel!
"Well, what about non-routine emergencies then?" Believing she had found a loophole in Hua Tianyu's words, Han Yan pressed on relentlessly.
Hua Tianyu smiled slightly and called out, "Wang Zhengwei, step out of formation!"
"Sir!" Prompted by his military habits, Wang Zhengwei took a stride forward and stood at attention, gazing calmly ahead.
"For non-routine emergencies, we rely on him!" Hua Tianyu smiled faintly, his eyes filled with confidence.
"Just him?!" Han Yan walked a circle around Wang Zhengwei, failing completely to spot anything special about him.
"Believe it or not, I can knock him flat in under a minute!" Han Yan said dismissively.
Upon hearing this, Wang Zhengwei's expression remained completely unfazed. His gaze stayed calm and fixed ahead, as if Han Yan wasn't talking about him at all.
"Hua Tianyu, look at him, he's just a block of wood! You could slap him across the face and he wouldn't even make a sound!" Han Yan contemptuously shook the index finger of her right hand at Wang Zhengwei.
