Chapter 150: Lin Lin's Gift

Hua Tianyu had to admit that Lin Lin was very attractive. Standing at one meter seventy centimeters tall, she towered over most girls like a crane among chickens. Yet, Hua Tianyu simply could not cross the hurdle in his own heart!

"Tian Li, you be the judge!" Lin Lin dragged Tian Li into the fray once more.

Just as Tian Li opened her mouth to speak, Lin Lin immediately added, "If you dare to unconditionally agree with Brother Tian, just wait and see how I deal with you later!"

Tian Li stuck out her tongue, said not a single word, grabbed her lipstick, and scurried straight back to her own room.

Hua Tianyu: "..."

You ask for someone else's opinion, yet you come with threats attached? What kind of obnoxious habit is this? Could it be that she picked it up from me?

Seeing that Tian Li had also fled back to her room, Lin Lin retreated into her own quarters, retrieved her tablet computer, opened the shopping app, and placed it right in front of Hua Tianyu. "Place the order today! Even though it will take a few days to arrive, I'll forgive you then!"

"Otherwise, I'll give you another ten minutes, and keep doing that until you make the purchase!" Lin Lin declared with righteous confidence.

This time, Hua Tianyu pondered for twenty seconds. "Fine, I agree!"

With that, he reached out and took the tablet from Lin Lin's hands, while Lin Lin retreated to her room with a triumphant expression.

Five minutes later.

"Lin Lin, I've bought it!" Hua Tianyu called out.

Having already waited inside her room, Lin Lin bolted right out, snatched back her tablet, and beamed, "Thank you, Brother Tian!"

Hua Tianyu resumed his composed smile and replied, "You can thank me after you actually receive the gift."

Once inside her room, Lin Lin shut the door and anxiously opened the app to check her orders.

The idea that a gift should remain a mystery to her—how could that possibly be true?

Brother Tian bought Tian Li her absolute favorite lipstick, so what would he buy for me? Would he get me those long boots I love so much?

Then again, it is currently summer, and he has never even seen me looking pretty in boots, so perhaps not!

What would he buy then? Could he have bought a tube of lipstick as well?

No sooner had he driven the Jaguar back to the company garage than his WeChat buzzed in his pocket.

"Brother Tian." The message was from Wang Hong.

"What is it?"

"Are you free after work today? I'd like to leave with you, is that alright?"

"Alright, no problem!" Hua Tianyu agreed.

He knew that Wang Hong must have something on her mind, and that whatever it was, it was likely inconvenient to discuss inside the office, which was why she had specifically asked to leave together after work.

Noticing that the young lady was hesitant to confide in him over WeChat either, Hua Tianyu couldn't quite guess what the matter was. Regardless, they could talk once they met.

After parking the car, Hua Tianyu went straight up to the president's office. He needed to notify Wei Xueying and ask for leave since he would be accompanying Wang Hong that evening and wouldn't be able to drive her home.

Upon entering the office, he found Liang Hui right in the middle of reporting to Wei Xueying about the recruitment drive scheduled for the next day.

"Hua Tianyu, you're just in time. Out of the hundreds of applicants who submitted resumes, our department has selected all the military veterans as well as those with superior qualifications, making a total of eighty-six people." Upon seeing Hua Tianyu, Liang Hui seemed to have entirely forgotten the "banana boyfriend" incident from a few days prior as she waved the document in her hand at him.

Hua Tianyu nodded in acknowledgment. He knew full well that Liang Hui was someone who never brought personal emotions into her work, and she was, without a doubt, a complete workaholic.

In fact, from the day the job posting went public until today, a mere three days had passed, yet Liang Hui had already sifted through hundreds of resumes to filter out the eighty-six qualified candidates.

Although this was the collective result of the Human Resources Department's efforts, Hua Tianyu knew that given Liang Hui's work ethic, she would have meticulously reviewed every single selected resume herself.

Hua Tianyu took the stack of resumes from Liang Hui's hands, glanced through them roughly, and said, "Alright, I have no objections. Please have the HR department call the numbers on the resumes one by one and notify them to come in for interviews tomorrow."

Once Liang Hui had exited the president's office, Hua Tianyu spoke up, "Xueying, I have some matters to attend to tonight. I've already driven the Jaguar back for you and parked it in the garage. You can drive yourself home tonight."

Wei Xueying paused to consider. "Never mind, I won't go back tonight. I'll just make do with a few hours in the lounge. After talking with Han Yan the other day, a lot of things were delayed, and tonight is a good opportunity for me to make up for lost time."

Hua Tianyu frowned slightly. "Xueying, you really shouldn't do this. Rest is the ultimate guarantee for your health."

"It's fine. Don't I have the protective talisman you gave me? Nowadays, I feel like sleeping just five or six hours a day is quite enough." Wei Xueying casually touched the amulet hanging against her chest.

Hua Tianyu's expression turned serious. "No! That object can only alleviate your fatigue; it cannot nourish your constitution—or as the saying goes, it treats the symptoms rather than the root cause. You still need to get adequate sleep!"

Wei Xueying was momentarily stunned. She had not expected this miraculous talisman to fall short of being omnipotent. She nodded gently and said, "All right, I understand. Just for tonight, to catch up on work, and I won't do it again!"

Unconsciously, her tone when speaking with Hua Tianyu had taken on a consultative nature.

Hua Tianyu gave her a deep look and said nothing more. He knew that given Wei Xueying's personality, until the crisis facing Swan Group was resolved, she would never truly allow herself to relax.
