Chapter 139: A Pig-Headed Character (Fourth Installment)
Jiang Lifu glanced at the four figures fleeing swiftly and then at the figure lying in the courtyard. He said, "Chasing them? Are you kidding? Can we still catch up now? There's still one on the ground—did you blind fools not see him? Drag him over here!"
"Yes, boss!"
Immediately, four men went over and dragged the motionless, groaning Cheng Feng back.
"Jiang Lifu! Damn it, you actually came back? I thought your whole family had been wiped out!" Cheng Feng squinted through the one eye he could still open, finally recognizing the black-clad men and Jiang Lifu himself.
"Smack!" Jiang Lifu slapped him across the face without hesitation. Who dares talk to me like that? The last person who did is now feeding turtles at the river bottom!
This worthless piece of trash, beaten senseless by four laborers, dares to speak to me that way?
Seeing their boss strike, the four men loosened their grip and dropped Cheng Feng to the ground, raising their feet to stomp him.
Daring to cause trouble at the Jiang Family Martial Arts School? Kid, are you tired of living?
The Jiang Family Martial Arts School wasn’t like those four laborers just now. These men had beaten plenty of people and knew how to inflict pain that lingers.
Surrounding Cheng Feng, they rained down blows swiftly. Soon, Cheng Feng was in agony, nearly passing out.
"I’m Cheng Feng! Jiang Lifu, fuck your father!" Using the last bit of strength he had, Cheng Feng shouted.
Though his words were slurred, the real Jiang Lifu finally heard him clearly.
"Stop! Stop! Everyone, cease!" Jiang Lifu hurriedly called out to his men and ordered, "Lift him up. Let me take another look!"
Two men nodded, grabbing Cheng Feng’s arms like sacks of rice and hauled him up, supporting him under the armpits.
With their help, Cheng Feng managed to stand again and slowly raised his head.
"Hiss!" Jiang Lifu sucked in a breath of cold air. Now he truly recognized the pig-headed man—it was indeed Cheng Feng, whom he’d seen just a few days ago.
"What happened to you?" Jiang Lifu asked.
Cheng Feng rolled his eyes internally. How do you think I ended up like this? Don’t you have any sense?
Those laborers just now beat me black and blue—don’t you know how dirty your men played?
Half my face is from those laborers, the rest is from your own people!
But Cheng Feng had no interest in debating this. He had one burning question he had to ask immediately.
"Where were you all just now?" Though two teeth had been knocked out, Cheng Feng forced out the words.
"Where? Eating! It’s mealtime now!" Jiang Lifu replied, baffled. Though Cheng Feng belonged to the Senluo Hall, he was meddling far too much.
"Eating? Didn’t you leave two people to guard the place?" Cheng Feng winced in pain and asked again.
If just two had stayed behind, he wouldn’t have been beaten so badly!
"Guard the place? Who dares cause trouble at the Jiang Family Martial Arts School?" Jiang Lifu answered, matter-of-fact.
"Yeah! This whole area is under our protection. Who’d dare make a scene?"
"We just went out to eat. The courtyard gate was open, but the villa gate was locked!"
At this moment, Jiang Lifu’s close subordinates also recognized the pig-headed man as Cheng Feng from Senluo Hall.
They weren’t afraid of Cheng Feng himself, but the Senluo Hall behind him was a different matter, so they all sided with their boss.
Besides, they were telling the truth—they just went out to eat. What’s wrong with that? Does Senluo Hall forbid us from eating?
Moreover, Senluo Hall was mostly just a rumor to them. Where were the tough guys they kept hearing about?
And this Cheng Feng? A guy who couldn’t even take care of himself after being beaten by four laborers—he’s supposed to be from Senluo Hall?
"You bastards..." Cheng Feng suddenly didn’t know what to say anymore.
After all this talk, it really was just his own misfortune!
Was this beating all for nothing?
No, the beating from the laborers might be, but what those four did just now wasn’t!
"Jiang Lifu, listen, I won’t take this beating lying down!"
Jiang Lifu’s tone flared with anger after hearing those words. You’re just using your Senluo Hall status to bark around here?
My men only kicked you a few times, what more do you want? Who told you to lie down in my courtyard?
With your looks, who’d even recognize you?
However, Jiang Lifu wasn’t as impulsive as Jiang Liliang. Though anger burned inside him, a slight smile crept across his face.
"Alright, Cheng Feng, I told them not to fight back. Now you can hit them as much as you want. If you kill them, I won’t interfere."
Cheng Feng was speechless.
I suspect you’re doing this on purpose.
No, you definitely are!
With my state, how could I kill anyone? As soon as those two men let go, I’d just collapse again, okay?
Jiang Lifu, you bastard, just wait. Senluo Hall and you aren’t done yet!
Though saying this, Cheng Feng wasn’t very confident. After all, he was just an outer member of Senluo Hall, mainly responsible for gathering intelligence. But this grudge with Jiang Lifu was now firmly established.
Still, Cheng Feng had no authority to mobilize Senluo Hall’s resources directly. So his only way to retaliate against Jiang Lifu was to force him to deal with Hua Tianyu.
"Jiang Lifu, Yongxing Hall just hit a wall again at Swan Group today!" Cheng Feng spoke briefly, pain cutting his sentences short.
"They found that gang of rogue doctors?" Jiang Lifu replied casually. "So what if they got hit? Losing a few bucks isn’t a big deal, no skin off my back. I never supported it anyway."
Cheng Feng’s words faltered. He wanted to use this reason to push Jiang Lifu to confront Hua Tianyu.
"Jiang Liliang’s scared. Senluo Hall won’t let Swan Group off. Jiang Lifu, send people!" Quickly, he found another excuse. In truth, he didn’t know Jiang Liliang was already dead, or else he wouldn’t have needed to come up with reasons.
"Alright, got it!" The words Senluo Hall carried some weight with Jiang Lifu, at least enough to make him consider Cheng Feng’s request.
Besides, Jiang Lifu knew that his younger brother Jiang Liliang had a grudge against someone named Hua from Swan Group—the man had crippled his nephew’s legs.
"Cheng Feng, what about the benefits Senluo Hall promised last time..." Jiang Lifu drew out the words, waiting for Cheng Feng’s reply.
He could guess Cheng Feng’s little scheme: using him as a tool against Swan Group. Senluo Hall could intimidate them, and the Jiang Family Martial Arts School would do the dirty work. But without some reward, the school wouldn’t work wholeheartedly.
Even a strong dragon respects the local snake. This Senluo Hall dragon crossing the river wouldn’t get help without some real benefits.
As for his brother’s feud with the Hua family—that was a separate matter entirely.
