Seeing that the scene had been brought to a close, Hua Tianyu instructed Cui Quan, "The cameras can be fixed now; tell the monitoring room to turn them on."

The thugs lying on the floor—save for the green-haired one who had passed out—were utterly bewildered. Was such a thing even possible? Could the cameras just be broken and fixed at will? They had always considered themselves the most shameless people around, but after coming to Swan Group today, they realized they had met the ancestors of shamelessness.

Once the cameras were back on, however, the group had no choice but to repeat what they had just said, effectively sealing their fate by confirming a case of failed robbery followed by an internal dispute over the spoils.

Wei Xueying was equally baffled by Hua Tianyu’s method of toggling the cameras. "Where on earth did you learn this trick? One moment the cameras need fixing, the next they’re working fine?"

Hua Tianyu pondered for two seconds. "I learned it during my advanced studies in the directing department at the Film Academy."

Wei Xueying: "..."

*Fine,* she thought. *You treat the company’s surveillance cameras like a movie crew’s equipment?*

Wei Xueying felt a headache coming on. And it wasn't just this; Hua Tianyu had fired so many security guards at once that the department was now severely understaffed. Just as she was about to ask how he planned to handle the situation, Hua Tianyu spoke up.

"Xueying, I have two suggestions regarding the Swan Group security department."

"Go ahead, I'm listening." She was always willing to hear Hua Tianyu’s serious advice, as every suggestion he had made since they met had proven immensely beneficial to the company.

"First, when we recruit new guards, add a requirement: preference will be given to honorably discharged soldiers from China."

"Preference for discharged soldiers?" Wei Xueying mused for a moment before understanding his intent. Former soldiers were a rare breed of individuals who possessed both physical robustness and strong discipline, making them the perfect candidates for Swan Group. "Very well, I will have Liang Hui handle that immediately. Tell me your second suggestion."

"The second suggestion is to remove me from the position of security manager and promote Cui Quan to the role," Hua Tianyu said nonchalantly.

"Absolutely not!" Wei Xueying and Cui Quan exclaimed in unison.

Cui Quan refused because he felt that accepting the position meant pushing his mentor out of his job. To him, such an act was not only despicable but would weigh heavily on his conscience. Everything he had achieved was thanks to "Brother Tian"; how could he possibly usurp his position? Besides, he had a wife at home—if she found out he’d ousted Brother Tian, he’d be sleeping on the sofa for at least a year!

Wei Xueying refused because she didn’t trust anyone else with the security department. After everything that had happened, she only felt at ease leaving the security of the company in Hua Tianyu’s hands. In a way, she had developed a sense of reliance on him. Thus, she firmly rejected his proposal.

"Hua Tianyu, I don't care what your reasons are, you must remain the security manager!" Wei Xueying said with finality.

"Brother Tian! You can't quit!" Cui Quan added, pleading.

Hua Tianyu blinked, thinking to himself, *I just wanted to be a little lazy, do you really have to react this strongly?* He sighed. "Fine, how about this: Cui Quan will serve as the deputy manager. He’s already handling most of the department's affairs, so he needs a formal title."

He didn't mention the subtext: with a deputy manager in place, he could naturally pass all the work over to him.

"Cui Quan as deputy manager?" Wei Xueying frowned. She had seen his performance today; he certainly had courage and a sense of responsibility. However, while a manager could nominate someone, such appointments usually required an assessment by the HR department.

As she was thinking, Hua Tianyu added, "Cui Quan as deputy manager is my bottom line, Xueying. Otherwise, I’m stepping down as manager entirely!"

"Your bottom line? You'll quit if I don't agree?" Wei Xueying was slightly startled. She looked up at him, only to see him wearing a faint, enigmatic smile. She immediately understood—this guy was definitely up to something again! *Forget it,* she thought. *Cui Quan is capable enough; I’ll just agree, lest he concocts another scheme that leaves me in a tough spot.*

"I agree! I’ll notify Liang Hui to announce the personnel change immediately," she said coldly, making a rare concession to his demands.

"Brother Tian..." Cui Quan had witnessed the entire process of Hua Tianyu fighting for his promotion, even going so far as to threaten his own position. He was so moved he nearly teared up. If Hua Tianyu asked him to storm the Jiang Family Martial Arts Hall alone right now, he wouldn't hesitate for a second.

"Brother Cui! Brother Cui!" The walkie-talkie at Cui Quan's waist suddenly crackled.

"What is it?"

"The police from Shangjiang City have arrived following the earlier report."

"We're in the conference room; show them in," Cui Quan replied.

"Where are they? Where are those scumbags?" A few minutes later, a brisk, energetic female voice echoed from outside the conference room door.

Hua Tianyu frowned. *That voice...*

As the door swung open, several voices spoke at once.

"Xueying!" Han Yan said with a smile as she stepped inside.

"It really is you!" Hua Tianyu recognized the female officer as Han Yan and spoke up.

"You jerk, it's you!" Han Yan spotted Hua Tianyu standing next to Wei Xueying and sneered immediately.

"Han Yan, why are you here?" Wei Xueying was pleasantly surprised at first, but hearing their exchange, she asked curiously, "You two know each other too?"

Hua Tianyu couldn't help but chuckle. *What do you mean "too"? Do you know this woman?* He pursed his lips and asked Wei Xueying, "Has this character ever come to Swan Group to stir up trouble before?"

Wei Xueying shook her head gently. "Don't talk nonsense. This is Han Yan; she’s my best friend and a police officer in Shangjiang City!"

"Best friend?" Hua Tianyu was nearly stunned. *This violent girl is your best friend? You two are completely different types, aren't you?*
