Chapter 125: Ye Feiyu of the Flying Feather Martial Arts School
Triumphal Bar.
The lights overhead flickered incessantly, and the neon signs pulsed without a moment’s rest. On the dance floor, men and women alike surrendered to the rhythm, endlessly unleashing their pent-up hormones beneath the strobe lights.
Yet, no matter how boisterous the venue, there are always quiet booths or private rooms to be found. Currently, Fang Yuanmin—known as Uncle Fang, the chief steward of the Zhuang Group—was sitting in one such private room.
Ever since he had accepted the commission from Zhuang Yousong and Ou Manrong a few days ago to find someone to teach Hua Tianyu a lesson, he had been busy pulling strings. Because of the debacle with the Sha brothers, Fang did not dare to just hire any two random thugs this time. If he failed again, the full force of Zhuang Wei’s fury would undoubtedly be unleashed upon him.
However, judging by Zhuang Yousong’s instructions, he had no intention of causing a murder case in Shangjiang City. He didn't want Hua Tianyu dead, which meant he couldn't simply spend money to hire international mercenaries. Those people were highly skilled and capable, but they were also bloodthirsty demons. Asking them to merely injure someone rather than kill them might prove far more difficult than asking them to commit murder. Besides, if they went on a rampage, heaven only knew whether they might accidentally kill Hua Tianyu anyway.
Finding the right person was truly no easy task.
Today, he had met with Huo Si, a friend of his at Triumphal Bar, specifically to get an introduction to a man named Ye Feiyu. He had arranged for both Huo Si and Ye Feiyu to meet him at the bar.
After finishing half a bottle of Black Label, a knock finally sounded at the door of the booth.
"Come in!"
Huo Si pushed the door open, followed by a towering, broad-shouldered man.
"Old Fang! Let me introduce you. This is Ye Feiyu, the master of the Feiyu Martial Arts Academy." Huo Si didn't waste any time with pleasantries as he made the introduction.
Fang Yuanmin narrowed his eyes. He didn't speak, nor did he invite them to sit, instead opting to size up the man before him. Ye Feiyu looked to be in his thirties, tall and imposing, with rugged, sharp features. At first glance, he resembled a solid boulder.
Yet, there was a certain aura about this "boulder" that made one feel uneasy. Fang nodded; his first impression was favorable.
"Come, sit! Huo Si, take a seat! Ye Feiyu, right? Let's all sit down and talk!" Fang pointed to the sofa opposite him.
"Ye, let me introduce you too. This is Old Fang, known as Uncle Fang, the chief steward of the Zhuang Group here in Shangjiang City!" As soon as Huo Si sat down, he introduced Fang to Ye.
"The Zhuang Group? Hmph." Ye Feiyu replied, his calm face showing no change.
Living in Shangjiang City, Ye Feiyu was certainly aware of the Zhuang Group. However, his past experiences had left him so detached that no matter what happened in this small city, it failed to stir even the slightest ripple in his heart. It wasn't just the Zhuang Group; even if the chief steward of the Qiu Group—or even the president of the Qiu Group themselves—were sitting across from him, he wouldn't feel a hint of excitement.
Seeing that the reputation of the Zhuang Group’s chief steward had failed to elicit even the slightest reaction from this burly man, Fang felt a jolt. Generally speaking, unless someone had truly never heard of the Zhuang Group, most people would not react this way.
"Huo Si, you mentioned earlier that he is the master of the Feiyu Martial Arts Academy. How is it that I’ve never heard of this academy?" Fang asked, intentionally testing him.
To his disappointment, Ye Feiyu acted as if he hadn't heard the question, offering no explanation.
Huo Si, thinking Fang was questioning his introduction, quickly interjected, "The Feiyu Martial Arts Academy is the most famous in the Northern District of Shangjiang. You might not be familiar with our circle, Old Fang. But within the martial arts community in the city, the Feiyu Academy is a name that carries weight!"
Fang actually did know of the place; if it were truly obscure, he wouldn't have bothered meeting with Huo Si today. Still, he had to play the part of someone just finding out, feigning surprise. "Oh, really? That’s impressive!"
"Before opening his academy, Ye Feiyu was a renowned special forces soldier in China!" Perhaps fearing his previous words lacked enough weight, Huo Si threw in a startling revelation from Ye's past.
"He was in the special forces?" Fang was genuinely surprised this time. He knew of the academy, but the fact that Ye had been a special forces soldier was news to him.
Fang looked at Ye Feiyu again, and sure enough, the aura he sensed was a faint, cold murderous intent—an intent that made Fang feel as if he were being pricked by needles. He was now forced to take this man seriously.
"Which unit were you in?" Fang asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Classified!" Ye Feiyu’s answer was blunt.
Fang Yuanmin: "..."
Seeing the tension rising, Huo Si hurriedly laughed to smooth things over. "Old Fang, forgive him! Ye’s former unit is a genuine secret. He has never told anyone."
Fang curled his lip, thinking to himself: A classified special forces soldier? Perhaps he really does have an extraordinary background!
However, the image of the weak and easily defeated Sha brothers drifted back into his mind. He hesitated, then said to Ye, "The person we need to deal with is quite skilled. Two brothers, both bodyguards for our group, were already taken down by him."
"So, while I know you might not like to hear this, I have to ask. Master Ye, could you show me some of your methods? I’m afraid that if you were to fall at his hands as well, I would have a very difficult time explaining it to my employer."
Fang could tell that Ye Feiyu was no amateur, but he wanted a demonstration to put his own mind at ease. To his surprise, Ye Feiyu let out a heavy snort, stood up, and without a word, turned to leave.
Huo Si quickly stepped forward to pull him back, pleading, "Brother Ye, don't be angry, please!" The commission fee for this introduction was thirty thousand yuan—money Fang had promised him upon success. Huo Si couldn't let that slip away so easily. The man was highly skilled, but his temper was terrible—perhaps this was what people meant by being arrogant due to one's talent.
"I am not a street performer!" Ye Feiyu retorted indignantly.
"Master Ye, I understand, but Old Fang is under a lot of pressure! His boss gave him quite a lashing over the last bodyguards he hired!" Huo Si invoked the memory of Ye’s father, playing the mediator once more.
