Chapter 151: Old Scores
Jiang Zheng looked at the approaching man, feeling a sense of vague familiarity, but could not place him for the moment.
"Have we met somewhere before?" Jiang Zheng asked.
Hearing these words, Gao Fu’s anger flared up even higher, his face turning red with rage.
"Very well, very well, you actually don't remember me at all," Gao Fu said.
"Brother, I wonder if there is some conflict between us?" Jiang Zheng asked.
"Kid, you ruined my good deed, and you're asking where our conflict lies? I think the girl by your side is rather nice. Hand her over to us, and perhaps I'll consider letting you go," Gao Fu said with a cold sneer.
Jiang Zheng's gaze turned frosty, and his tone became icy.
"It seems this matter cannot be resolved peacefully, then."
"Peacefully? If it could be resolved peacefully, why would I have brought so many people here? Just for fun?" Gao Fu said.
Just at that moment, a flash of realization crossed Jiang Zheng's mind.
"It's you!" Jiang Zheng said in a deep voice.
"Oh, you remembered? But it's useless even if you remember. You ruined my good deed, and you won't be leaving here today," Gao Fu said.
"Just a moment ago I wanted to leave, but now... even if you begged me, I wouldn't leave," Jiang Zheng said.
"Sharp-tongued! Let's see if your body is as tough as your mouth!" Gao Fu said coldly.
"Senior, who is he? He looks like a total creep," Pei Xin said.
She did not deliberately lower her voice, and her words were heard loud and clear by Gao Fu.
Being called a creep is something no man can endure, especially since Gao Fu was already consumed by rage at that moment.
"Later, I'll make sure to treat you very well," Gao Fu said, staring straight at Pei Xin.
"Nyah nyah nyah, like I'm afraid of you, creep!" Pei Xin mocked.
"Hmph!" Gao Fu was so angry he was left speechless.
Right at that moment, Jiang Zheng suddenly handed his phone to Pei Xin and said, "Hold on to my phone for me, it's quite expensive."
Pei Xin took the phone and noticed the screen was lit up, displaying two words—Call the police!
Pei Xin was somewhat reluctant; having finally encountered such an interesting situation today, calling the police would be far too boring.
However, seeing Jiang Zheng's stern and serious gaze, Pei Xin still nodded slightly and said, "I'll take good care of it."
Jiang Zheng looked at Gao Fu. What he needed to do now was buy time for Pei Xin.
He had some impression of the man before him. The reason the impression wasn't deep enough earlier was because when he first met Gao Fu, he was suffering from a side effect.
The side effect he experienced at that time was an inability to concentrate, which was why his impression of Gao Fu had been so faint.
This Gao Fu was by no means a good person.
Back then, he had used sweet-talking lies to deceive Jiang Qianyue's roommate, Liu Xiao, tricking Liu Xiao into meeting him. During the meeting, Liu Xiao had brought Jiang Qianyue along, and Jiang Zheng had bumped into Jiang Qianyue, forcing him to accompany them to meet Gao Fu.
At first, Gao Fu had put on the appearance of a gentleman, easily winning people's favor. But once they were at the nightclub, Gao Fu's true colors were revealed.
He had attempted to drug the two girls, but fortunately, Jiang Zheng had burst in and driven them all away.
Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
It was precisely because of this incident that Gao Fu held a grudge against Jiang Zheng.
Watching the two intimate figures in front of him, Gao Fu felt an even deeper surge of displeasure.
He had been staking out this place for quite some time.
He knew which school Liu Xiao attended, and naturally knew that Jiang Zheng and the others were here.
However, he lacked the courage to go into the school to cause trouble; once he stepped inside, he figured he would be caught very quickly.
With all the crimes he had committed, once captured, it would be truly difficult for him to ever get out.
Therefore, Gao Fu patiently waited outside the campus. Unfortunately, he rarely saw Jiang Zheng and Jiang Qianyue leave the school grounds, and the two never stayed outside for long. Even when they were outside, they stayed in crowded areas where it was difficult to make a move.
It was only recently that Gao Fu discovered Jiang Zheng checked into a hotel every single night.
Gao Fu realized this was an opportunity—an opportunity for revenge.
He did not rush to act, instead patiently observing and waiting. After confirming the surrounding environment, he finally brought men over to ambush Jiang Zheng.
Today, he was going to settle the score!
"Get him!" Gao Fu couldn't be bothered to waste any more breath on Jiang Zheng. The longer it dragged on, the more likely problems would arise, and he didn't want to drag it out.
Hearing his command, the men he brought waved their weapons and rushed forward.
Their primary target was Jiang Zheng, not Pei Xin.
In their view, once the main enemy Jiang Zheng was dealt with, a little girl would be easy to manipulate however they wished.
"Stay behind me, and be careful," Jiang Zheng said.
"Mm," Pei Xin replied.
Jiang Zheng assumed a fighting stance as the weapon-wielding opponents rushed right up to him.
Jiang Zheng dodged one person's attack, delivered a vicious punch that knocked two men down, and then snatched a baseball bat, fighting multiple opponents at once with heavy, brutal strikes.
Given the circumstances where the opponents were armed and had no intention of holding back, Jiang Zheng naturally had no intention of showing mercy either.
The advantage of striking heavily was that it quickly incapacitated the opponents, reducing their numbers rapidly.
While fighting, Jiang Zheng also had to protect Pei Xin.
Standing behind Jiang Zheng, Pei Xin remained relatively safe. Her eyes shone brightly as she watched him, his fierce and heroic fighting figure deeply imprinting itself into her heart.
After fighting for a moment, Jiang Zheng noticed a lack of movement behind him and couldn't help shouting, "The phone!"
Pei Xin snapped back to her senses, feeling somewhat embarrassed as she had been watching too intently.
She hurriedly dialed the emergency number, speaking into it in a quick, hushed whisper.
Gao Fu had sharp eyes and, seeing Pei Xin making a phone call, a sudden wave of bad intuition rose in his heart.
"Stop her from making that call!" Gao Fu roared.
Hearing this, several men attempted to charge forward and knock the phone out of Pei Xin's hand.
"Not a chance!" Jiang Zheng barked.
Blockading the path single-handedly, he made sure not a single person managed to get past.
Such fierce combat came at a cost for Jiang Zheng.
He took numerous blows from clubs on his body, feeling a burning pain, and suspected there were already bloody welts in many places.
However, his enemies had it much worse; nearly all of them were already sprawled on the ground.
Seeing Jiang Zheng's ferocious display, Gao Fu's pupils contracted violently.
He had anticipated various scenarios and had brought plenty of men, yet he never expected Jiang Zheng's combat prowess to be so terrifying.
After all, he had brought over twenty people, not only failing to take Jiang Zheng down, but having more than a dozen of his own men knocked down instead.
Those who were still standing were now gripped by fear.
The hotheads had all fallen, and the ones remaining were those capable of reading the room.
Seeing how vicious Jiang Zheng was, they were all terrified.
Watching them hesitate to advance, Gao Fu immediately shouted harshly, "Grab him! He's about to reach his limit!"
Hearing this, the men hardened their hearts and resumed their attacks on Jiang Zheng.
Jiang Zheng swung the baseball bat in his hand, striking down one person after another.
The baseball bat itself began to crack under the force.
Soon, opponents fell one by one, leaving only four men still standing.
Yet those four remaining men no longer dared to step forward; they brandished their weapons tentatively, but lacked the courage to close in.
"Get lost!" Jiang Zheng shouted loudly.
The four men were frightened out of their wits, fleeing in total panic.
