Qin Mu’s words, calm and unhurried as they were, left Liang Feng rooted to the spot in shock.

He had long been the neighborhood thug in several nearby villages, leading a group of a dozen or so ruffians, exuding an intimidating air that made all the locals avoid him. Even Luo Cheng, when speaking to him, always seemed to lack confidence. Yet Qin Mu stood his ground, entirely unshaken, his presence utterly eclipsing Liang Feng’s. In front of Qin Mu, Liang Feng felt as if all his bluster was meaningless.

“Are you deliberately meddling in someone else’s family affairs?” Liang Feng demanded. “Look, the whole neighborhood’s gathered round—blowing things up like this just ruins everyone’s reputation. It won’t do anyone any good if word gets out. Their marital squabbles are none of your business.”

Liang Feng tried to reason with Qin Mu, attempting to make himself clear with a barrage of justifications.

Qin Mu shot him a cold, half-smiling glance. “Liang Yue took a sum of money from me. Do you think I should let that slide?”

If one were to count it up, Qin Mu had sent at least ten million to Luo Cheng over time. Yet all that money had been embezzled by Liang Yue without Luo Cheng’s knowledge. Had it been spent on the old lady’s medical treatment, she might have long since recovered.

“How can you prove that money was yours? For all anyone knows, it could’ve come from my family!” Liang Yue braced herself, making it clear she had every intention of keeping Qin Mu’s money.

But before she could finish, Wu Mu, standing nearby, suddenly swung his arm and landed a heavy slap across her face.

A loud crack split the air. The blow landed harder than Luo Cheng’s earlier one, nearly tearing apart the other half of Liang Yue’s face.

“Who do you think you are? Why should I prove anything to you?” Wu Mu clapped his hands, as if wiping away the filth from striking her.

“Brother! He hit me!” Liang Yue wailed, clutching her burning, bruised cheek.

“You dare lay hands on her? Grab your weapons—beat them!” Liang Feng shouted to his cronies, urging them in.

Yet, the moment these thugs caught sight of Wu Mu’s imposing frame, even with metal rods and other weapons in their hands, none dared make a move.

“Get them! You useless cowards!” Liang Feng fumed, humiliated that an outsider was dominating his turf.

Before any could react, Wu Mu moved like a storm. His fists rained down in a brutal barrage, each blow felling a man, knocking every would-be assailant to the ground. Those struck by Wu Mu’s iron-heavy fists clutched their wounds in stunned silence, unable to even cry out, before being thrown out the door one by one.

“You… you…” Liang Feng’s hand trembled, but he dared not even point at Qin Mu directly.

Who was this man, really?

“You’re not planning to return the money, are you?” Qin Mu asked.

“I don’t know what money you’re talking about!” Liang Yue insisted, though she knew her end had come today. But with that money, she could always move on and find another man to take advantage of—her lifestyle wouldn’t have to change.

Thinking of this, Liang Yue sneered at Luo Cheng, “Hmph, you worthless loser. You think I ever cared for you?”

Qin Mu paid her no mind. Off to the side, Wu Mu quietly took out his phone and dialed a number. Seeing this, Liang Yue felt a sudden pang of unease.

Within half a minute, her own phone rang. It was her mother calling, and she answered in a hurry.

“Daughter, why is all the money in the bank card gone?”

“That’s impossible! I just deposited the money you sent the other day!” Liang Yue refused to believe it.

“I’m here at the jewelry store with my friends, about to pay for some jewelry, and the clerk just told me there’s not enough balance on my card!”

The phone was on speaker, and everyone in the room heard the words loud and clear.

Liang Yue’s mother was shopping for fine jewelry, while Luo Cheng’s mother still lay in a shabby hospital, surviving on the cheapest medication. The contrast was chilling, and only fueled the crowd’s fury and contempt for Liang Yue’s vile deeds.

Liang Yue wasted no time, hanging up and calling the bank in a panic. The answer she got was simple and direct.

All the money in her account—over ten million—had been transferred out, leaving a balance of zero.

The reason: debt repayment.

“No, no, that’s impossible…” Liang Yue stared blankly into space, unable to even hold onto her phone.

After a long moment, she turned on Qin Mu with a venomous glare, then swung to face Luo Cheng and shrieked hysterically, “Without that money, your old hag of a mother can just die!”

“You venomous snake!” Luo Cheng, usually gentle and mild, was so provoked that he finally cursed her.

Qin Mu quietly motioned for Luo Cheng to calm down and instructed, “Notify Lin Qingxue. Have her prepare to transfer Luo Cheng’s mother to the city’s central hospital.”

“Yes, sir.” Wu Mu stepped aside and made another call.

At Qin Mu’s words, both Liang Feng and Liang Yue were left dumbstruck.

Lin… Lin Qingxue?

“The CEO of Yazhi Beauty?”

There was only one Lin Qingxue in Jiangcheng, and she was the head of the top beauty company—her name was well known. Yet Qin Mu was on such familiar terms with someone like her?
