Chapter Fifty-Eight: A Capital Offense!
So, you want me to collect your corpse?
“Who the hell are you! How dare you talk to me like that! Believe it or not, tonight your whole family will be dragged to the river and fed to the fish!”
Xiao Huang was so enraged by Qin Mu’s words that he laughed in fury, slapping the table and shouting.
The moment he entered, he’d taken a dislike to this man.
Now, this guy was spouting wild threats, telling him to call his father and then prepare to collect his corpse?
Xiao Huang’s laughter lasted less than two seconds; when his gaze met Qin Mu’s, a chill shot straight down his spine, making him shudder and abruptly silencing him.
How had he not noticed earlier that this young man carried such a terrifying aura?
It was as if he’d slaughtered thousands!
Only now did Xiao Huang find it odd—this meeting had a set number of participants, with seats assigned, yet this man had barged in just before it started, claiming he was late.
Thinking carefully,
This guy wasn’t one of Lin Qingxue’s employees at all!
“Who the hell are you?!” Xiao Huang exclaimed in surprise.
He’d brought a large group when he entered, taking control of the entire company building of Elegant Beauty, forbidding any outsiders from coming in—even late employees weren’t allowed.
But this young man had entered in immaculate attire, calm and composed, seemingly unaffected.
Could it be…?!
Xiao Huang hurriedly called to his secretary, “Where are the men we brought? Why didn’t they report someone breaking in?!”
The secretary answered in a trembling voice, “They said they were knocked unconscious in an instant by one man. It was only when the military arrived that they were awakened.”
Hearing this, Xiao Huang stepped back abruptly, putting distance between himself and Qin Mu.
“Who are you, really?!” This was the second time Xiao Huang asked.
But now, his arrogance had vanished. He didn’t dare to curse, only eager to confirm who this mysterious figure was and what he wanted.
“I don’t like repeating myself. Call your father, then prepare to collect your corpse.”
Collect your corpse!
Qin Mu’s tone was calm as he extended a slender finger, pointing to the phone on the table.
Xiao Huang saw Qin Mu’s feigned composure and opened his mouth to curse, but found he couldn’t utter a sound, as if someone had grabbed his throat.
“You…?!”
After a moment, Xiao Huang gathered himself and spoke solemnly.
“Whatever your reason, I advise you to be careful with your words. Most of those present belong to the Xiao family. They carry multiple listening and recording devices; every word you say will be recorded.”
“As soon as I report—”
He hadn’t finished speaking.
From outside the door, through several layers, came the sound of a large, well-organized force rapidly ascending the stairs.
Suddenly, the conference room door was slammed open.
A fully armed unit surrounded the room; even outside, soldiers stood at the ready.
The atmosphere instantly froze in deadly silence; no one dared make a sound, all rose to attention.
Seeing the real guns in their hands, the Xiao family members swallowed hard, not daring to even breathe.
Leading the way were two officers, each bearing three stars on their shoulders.
It was Wu Mu and Wei Dingguo.
“Two—two colonels…?!”
Xiao Huang couldn’t recall the last time two colonels had been summoned for such a major event.
“How many troops were deployed?” Qin Mu stood tall as a silver spear, his gaze piercing, waving his hand with the authority of a commanding general.
“Report! Two reinforced armed companies, three hundred eighty men, ready for orders!” Wei Dingguo stepped forward and reported.
Faced with such overwhelming force, Xiao Huang, always disdainful of others, could no longer remain calm.
Especially seeing both colonels approach Qin Mu, reporting to him with respect as subordinates to a superior, fear surged uncontrollably in his heart.
He began to wonder what offense he’d committed to warrant such drastic action, even mobilizing so many armed troops from the military district.
“Is—could Lin Qingxue be your woman?”
After much thought, Xiao Huang could only link it to Lin Qingxue.
“If that’s the case, then if my words were out of line, I offer my apologies, and will send someone to make amends another day.”
“I will drop all plans regarding the Lin family, withdraw everyone immediately, and guarantee the supply relationship with their pharmaceuticals in future. Take it as a concession; there’s no need to blow things out of proportion. What do you say?”
Even now, Xiao Huang tried to negotiate in the tone of a businessman.
But Qin Mu paid him no mind, as if at this moment Xiao Huang was irrelevant.
And the more indifferent Qin Mu became, the more anxious Xiao Huang grew.
“Mr. Xiao, perhaps you should notify the patriarch and let him take charge.”
“Once he arrives, surely the other side will give him due respect and back off.”
Xiao Huang’s secretary stepped forward with the suggestion.
After all, the Xiao family patriarch was the largest pharmaceutical dealer in River City, overseeing countless hospitals and pharmacies, holding the fate of innumerable patients.
The other party was military; naturally, he should consider this.
No matter how grave the situation, a step back should be taken, move to a more private setting, and discuss matters properly.
“But…”
Even now, Xiao Huang was uneasy, remembering clearly Qin Mu’s words: “Call your father, then collect your corpse.”
But at this point, aside from summoning his powerful, well-connected father, there seemed no other way.
Calming himself, he reasoned that perhaps the other was only bluffing, saying such wild words to assert dominance.
Kill someone in public? Was he mad?
Xiao Huang nodded, picked up his phone, and dialed.
“Dad, come save me! I’m trapped! Yes, at Lin Qingxue’s company!”
After a few brief words, Xiao Huang hung up.
“I’ve notified my father. If I offended you before, I apologize again.” Xiao Huang bowed reluctantly to Qin Mu.
With his status, aside from a handful of elders, when had he ever suffered such humiliation?
Just as Xiao Huang finished speaking, Qin Mu pulled up a chair and nonchalantly extended his hand to Wu Mu.
