Chapter 123: Nothing Shall Be Sold to the Jiang Alliance!
The fat man’s remark spoke volumes about his lack of character. Yet, many were well aware that the Jiangcheng Daily was backed by none other than the Jiang Alliance. It came as no surprise that the largest media outlet belonged to them.
Seeing that Jiang Zheng remained unresponsive, the fat man furrowed his brow, tapped the table with great dissatisfaction, and demanded, "I said I didn't hear the beginning, so repeat it. What, are you deaf?"
"I do not repeat myself for those who arrive late," Jiang Zheng replied, coldly rejecting his unreasonable demand.
Expecting someone to restart their presentation just because you were late? That was simply absurd.
The fat man’s eyes widened at her response. "What kind of attitude is that? We reporters come here to cover your event—the least you could do is repeat yourself if we didn't catch something."
Jiang Zheng gestured toward the exit and said, "If you aren't satisfied, you are free to leave. We have no shortage of reporters here."
"Humph! If it weren't for this White Emperor City being a hot topic, do you think I’d bother coming to this godforsaken place?" The fat man muttered to himself, realizing he couldn't bully her. Though his voice was low, several people still heard him.
Jiang Zheng felt a surge of annoyance, but to maintain the atmosphere of the event, she chose not to call him out.
"I believe many of you are busy professionals who often suffer from mental fatigue or bouts of exhaustion," she continued, her infectious presence quickly drawing everyone’s attention back to her. "This medication effectively relieves fatigue, and we guarantee it has absolutely no side effects."
"We have samples here. I would like to invite five guests who feel a bit weary to come up and experience it for themselves."
Jiang Zheng took a box from her assistant. As she opened it, the fragrant scent of the pills wafted out, filling the hall like a refreshing spring breeze, leaving everyone feeling cool and invigorated. Many raised their hands, eager to try the miraculous medicine.
Just as Jiang Zheng was about to select the participants, a bulky figure stood up. "Let me try! I was so exhausted yesterday I could barely stand up straight."
Ignoring the established rules, the fat man marched up, grabbed two pills in one hand, and headed back to his seat. This rude behavior made the crowd frown. It was bad enough he took them, but to be so greedy as to take two?
Jiang Zheng observed the fat man’s unsteady gait. He had dark circles under his eyes and reeked of alcohol and perfume—a clear sign that he had spent the previous night indulging in debauchery at some pleasure house, likely cavorting with multiple hostesses. She despised such people. However, for the sake of the event, she bit her tongue and called three other reporters to come up.
Ten seconds after taking the pills, the three volunteers opened their eyes, gasping in disbelief.
"My god! This is incredible! It melts the moment it touches your tongue!"
"My homemade ginseng tea isn't even one percent as effective as this!"
"I feel like I'm back in my prime at twenty years old!"
Three glowing reviews followed in succession. Since these individuals had been carefully vetted and selected from various fields, there was no chance of them being plants. The others who hadn't been chosen looked on with regret and envy.
"It seems okay, I guess. Do you have any more?" The fat man, having swallowed both pills without even savoring them, greedily reached out to Jiang Zheng again, oblivious to his own behavior.
When Jiang Zheng ignored him, he began pointing fingers again. "Only five? Your preparation is pathetic. Can't you see how many people are here?"
"The next product is related to skincare," Jiang Zheng said, pointedly ignoring him as she moved to the next item. Yet, for almost every presentation, the fat man would rush up to snatch a sample, drawing the ire of the crowd.
"Isn't this medicine meant to be eaten? What does it matter who eats it?" the fat man scoffed at the complaints, acting as if his entitlement were perfectly natural.
The others who took the medicine continued to provide stellar reviews. With each demonstration, the results matched or even exceeded expectations.
Originally, given Qin Mu’s promotional tone, everyone had dismissed these pills as exaggerated claims. But now, it was clear that the reality far surpassed the hype. With such miraculous formulas, White Emperor City was poised to rise rapidly, potentially dominating the entire medical industry and leaving competitors in neighboring provinces without a chance to rival them.
After the demonstrations concluded, Jiang Zheng placed a set of samples on the table.
"May I ask, what will be the retail price of these pills? Will they be far beyond the reach of the average person?" a reporter asked.
This was the question everyone was waiting for. Given the miraculous nature of the medicine, they expected it to be expensive, with many secretly setting a mental price point of at least ten thousand.
Jiang Zheng replied calmly, "We will determine the price based on the patient's condition, but we have tentatively capped it at under one thousand."
The hall erupted in a roar of disbelief. What? Under one thousand? Such a miraculous medicine, sold at a commoner's price of a mere thousand? Everyone’s jaws dropped. It was practically a giveaway!
The fat man, however, looked ready to grind his teeth in rage. Such world-class medicine, and they were selling it for less than a thousand? What a waste!
