Chapter 101: Wanting to Catch the White Wolf with Bare Hands?
“No need to look further, it was Xu Feng who did it,” Qin Mu concluded after a few glances.
Fu Bing was left utterly bewildered. If it hadn’t been for the miraculous effect of the pill Qin Mu had given earlier, she would have doubted whether he was just putting on a show.
“Young man, how did you come to that conclusion?” Fu Yuantuo was equally puzzled. Qin Mu had only looked at a few of his wounds—how could he be so certain? He himself had suspected Xu Feng before. After all, the greatest threat was naturally the man sitting in the deputy seat, Xie Donglin. If Fu Yuantuo were to fall, Xie Donglin, backed by the Jiang Alliance, could easily claim the throne. Yet, lacking evidence, he had never been able to convict him.
“Sir, you practice martial arts regularly, don’t you?”
“That’s right,” Fu Yuantuo nodded. Having served in the military for many years, he trained often and was in excellent shape.
“These wounds are the result of internal energy. With your constitution, at most it should have taken five years for them to heal,” Qin Mu explained softly.
Ordinary martial artists cultivate external energy, enough only to injure with fists and feet—breaking a few bricks is a challenge. Internal energy, however, is a higher realm, transcending external force. It focuses power into a single point, allowing one to unleash strength several times greater than external energy—a single punch shattering a wall is nothing extraordinary. The assassins of the Black Web organization all wielded internal energy.
Hearing Qin Mu mention internal energy, Fu Yuantuo’s expression shifted. Those renowned doctors had needed extensive time and advanced equipment to reach that conclusion, yet this young man had seen it at a glance. His own skill was likely formidable as well.
“But what does internal energy have to do with Xu Feng?” Fu Bing asked curiously.
“The assailant was well aware of your grandfather’s resilience and deliberately applied a poison from the Miao region to his hands. He struck with internal energy, driving the toxin deep into your grandfather’s body. That’s why the wound refuses to heal, and modern medicine struggles to detect the cause,” Qin Mu replied. “I just met Xu Feng—his hands are calloused, a sure sign of frequent contact with this kind of poison. The pill I gave you earlier was also meant to counteract it.”
“No wonder my grandfather vomited a mouthful of foul blood after taking it,” Fu Bing realized.
“Then I’ll have someone arrest him right now—we might even implicate the Xie family behind him!” Fu Bing decided instantly, turning to leave.
She immediately ran into the military man from before.
“Miss, where are you rushing off to?” he asked.
“Luo Song, you’re just in time. Come with me to arrest Xu Feng—he’s the one who hurt my grandfather!” Fu Bing ordered.
Luo Song frowned, but after hearing her out, he couldn’t help but laugh and clutch his stomach.
“What’s so funny?” Fu Bing snapped.
“Miss, don’t be naive—this isn’t evidence. Even modern medicine can barely detect it; do you think the cunning Xie family would ever admit to such a thing? But tell me, who told you all this?” Luo Song asked. He knew that being able to identify the attacker through internal energy was no ordinary feat.
“It’s the young man of outstanding talent I mentioned earlier,” Wei Jianxun interjected.
“So it was you that Uncle Wei spoke so highly of. An honor to meet you at last,” Luo Song said, stepping forward to shake Qin Mu’s hand.
He subtly exerted some pressure, not out of malice, but as a soldier he carried a natural pride and wanted to test Qin Mu’s strength. However, before a few seconds had passed, Qin Mu spoke.
“Your stance is unstable, your upper body unsettled,” he said. “You fought Xu Feng before, didn’t you?”
At this, Luo Song froze, immediately releasing his grip. Even holding Qin Mu’s hand felt as if a mountain weighed upon him.
“How did you know?!” Luo Song’s demeanor shifted to respectful awe, addressing Qin Mu with formal courtesy now.
Indeed, he had fought Xu Feng long ago. When the old master was first injured, he immediately suspected Xu Feng. Driven by youthful fervor, he confronted Xu Feng directly. But in less than ten moves, Luo Song was not only unable to force a confession, but was thoroughly beaten, returning in disgrace.
“Lately you’ve been feeling weaker, your mind wanders, your steps are unsteady, and even your voice lacks confidence,” Qin Mu continued.
“Please instruct me, sir,” Luo Song said, yielding completely.
This youth, who was more than ten years his junior, must be an extraordinary figure rarely seen in the world!
“When you fought Xu Feng, he struck your leg with his palm, didn’t he?” Qin Mu asked.
“That’s right,” Luo Song confirmed. He had thrown his full force into a kick, aiming for Xu Feng’s upper body, but Xu Feng blocked it effortlessly with his palm. Afterward, Luo Song felt his strength diminish with each move, and soon he was defeated.
“Does that mean I was poisoned too?!” Luo Song quickly connected the dots after hearing Fu Bing’s earlier explanation.
“In less than a year, your leg will be crippled,” Qin Mu stated.
The shock widened Luo Song’s eyes. If he lost a leg, his military career would be over.
“Do you want to defeat Xu Feng?” Qin Mu asked, changing the subject.
“I dream of it!” Luo Song responded, standing at attention, his expression resolute. “Master Fu is my mentor. Xu Feng dared to harm him—I’ve trained relentlessly for over a decade just to one day make him pay!”
Qin Mu nodded slightly, pulled out two sheets of paper and a pen, and swiftly wrote several lines.
Fu Bing leaned closer, noticing that his penmanship, like the man himself, was bold and full of spirit.
“These are prescriptions. One is for Master Fu—take it once a day, rest for three days, and the wound will be completely healed. The second is for your leg—have someone prepare it and simmer for five hours; one dose will cure the affliction. Years of your training were suppressed by the poison, your meridians blocked, so progress was slow. Once you take this medicine, your energy will flow freely and you’ll immediately feel the results of your years of effort.”
With a flourish, Qin Mu handed the prescriptions to Fu Bing.
Fu Bing, anxious, immediately summoned the resident doctors.
The renowned physicians took the prescriptions, initially dismissing them as the work of some third-rate clinic. But after a glance, their eyes widened, hands trembling as they held their glasses, silent for a long moment before exclamations erupted around the room.
“My god!”
“Why didn’t I think of using this herb to counter the injury?”
“The combination of these two prescriptions—and the precise dosing of each ingredient, not a gram too much or too little—is simply miraculous…”
Qin Mu, well aware of the fervor of such medical enthusiasts, decided to make his exit before he was besieged by their enthusiasm.
