Meanwhile, having grasped Buffon's hint, Luffy was already able to strike Crocodile's real body with fists dipped in water. Yet Crocodile sneered, "A little bit of water—what use could it possibly have?" Though he spoke lightly, his wariness toward Buffon deepened. If they weren’t in this waterless desert, then perhaps...

"This is Yoba’s water! Scum like you could never understand how precious it is!" Luffy, too, had journeyed from Yoba, witnessing the entire city—young and old—digging sand to save their town. As a hot-blooded youth, his fury toward Crocodile’s actions could not be summed up by simple indignation.

"Haha, hahahaha! That’s the most childish thing I’ve heard in years!" Crocodile laughed. Suddenly, a small tornado formed in his right hand. He tossed it casually onto a nearby dune, and in an instant, the tiny whirlwind grew into a sandstorm that blotted out the sun.

Standing at the eye of the storm, Crocodile continued with a manic edge, "Did you really think the sandstorms that have plagued Yoba these past three years are natural phenomena?"

Hearing this, Luffy clenched his fists, preparing to splash more water and attack again. But Crocodile continued in a slow, deliberate tone: "This technique is called Gale Veil. It’s a sandstorm seed formed from my energy, and I can control its direction. The north wind blows year-round here. If my sandstorm seed keeps moving south and grows, where do you think the massive sandstorm will eventually strike?"

"The south..." Luffy murmured.

"Yoba!" they both replied in unison.

"You bastard, stop right now! This has nothing to do with Yoba!" Luffy, hands drenched in water, grabbed Crocodile and roared with all his might.

"It’s useless! The sandstorm has already formed—eventually it will grow beyond even my control! Even if you kill me now, you can’t change this fact. Not that you could ever hope to..." As he spoke, the golden hook on Crocodile’s left hand pierced through Luffy’s abdomen, blood splattering across his body.

Luffy’s eyes widened, staring straight at Crocodile, still roaring in defiance.

Meanwhile, the group riding the moving crab in the distance saw the sandstorm and worry clouded their faces.

"It must be that villain’s doing!" Vivi said, biting her lip in concern.

Reiju smiled in reassurance, "It’ll be fine. With Captain Buffon there, he’ll find a way!"

Inside Rainbase, the townsfolk saw the spectacle and murmured amongst themselves, "Looks like Yoba’s in trouble again!"

Dasqi, following closely behind Smoker, adjusted her glasses, anxiety writ large. "Is this man-made, or...?"

Smoker looked up, snarling, "Most likely that sand-crocodile bastard’s handiwork!"

Buffon, though unable to hear their conversation, recalled the original story and knew the sandstorm was heading toward Yoba. According to his knowledge, once the sandstorm matured, its top speed could reach dozens of meters per second!

He remembered Dodo, who had given him water when he left, and the Yoba townsfolk he’d helped. Buffon stepped onto Moonwalk and raced after the storm, meanwhile pondering how to stop it.

The simplest method would be to use the Dark-Dark Fruit’s power, but with CP0 and Crocodile present, he didn’t want to reveal himself! Pure physical attacks wouldn’t be effective. Suddenly, a flash of chemical insight struck him. He switched to the Blaze-Blaze Fruit state and accelerated toward the sandstorm.

Once he reached the front, flames spiraled beneath his feet, and the fireball in his hand swelled ever larger until it matched the sandstorm in size.

As the giant fireball appeared, everyone watching the sandstorm was stunned!

Vivi: "Is that Captain Buffon’s doing?"

Reiju: "Such power—when will Ichi reach this level?"

Stussy: "He’s a Devil Fruit user? Wait, isn’t the Blaze-Blaze Fruit Ace’s power?"

Crocodile: "What is Buffon planning?"

Saul: "Whoa-ho! That fireball’s way bigger than Ace’s!"

Luffy: "Ace, are you here?"

Smoker: "Would Ace show up now?"

Moments later, everyone witnessed a scene they would never forget. As the fireball extinguished, the sandstorm vanished, and a sky filled with crimson liquid rained down like fire upon the earth.

While all wondered, a glassware merchant in Rainbase shouted excitedly, "He melted the sand into liquid glass at over 1500 degrees! That idea and power—what a genius!"

When Buffon returned to the battlefield, CP0 and Crocodile had vanished, leaving only Saul, battered and bloodied, cradling an unconscious Luffy atop a dune.

Judging by the scene, Buffon needed no explanation: CP0 and Crocodile, sensing the tide turning, had teamed up to wound Saul and headed to Alubarna—the true focus of their plan.

With Saul’s current strength, he couldn’t handle four CP0 agents and the invincible-in-desert Crocodile at once.

Buffon took Luffy from Saul, his sixteen needle-tipped fingers threading silk through the wounds, quickly stitching up all his vessels and injuries. He even re-sutured the scar on Luffy’s face, which had always made him uneasy.

Collecting Luffy’s blood, Buffon fused the powers of the Rubber-Rubber Fruit and the Paw-Paw Fruit.

The name of this fruit puzzled Buffon as to its purpose.

"Gum-Ball Fruit!"

At that moment, Robin—who had vanished since Luffy began fighting Crocodile—appeared. She looked at bloodied Luffy and wounded Saul, murmuring, "Those with the name D—what are they fighting for?"

Saul, who had never been able to acknowledge Robin before, now spoke with concern, "Little Robin, where will you go next?"

"Alubarna. The Poneglyph awaits me there!"

As Robin spoke, Buffon took a white cloth from his pocket and tossed it to her. "Take Saul to the banks of the Sandora Canal with the Banana-Croc. I’ll fetch the Poneglyph in Alubarna." His tone was not a suggestion, but an order.

He paused, then told Saul, "Go to the canal and rendezvous with Juventus and Brook."

With those words, his needles flew again, stitching Saul’s wounds.

Robin, bewildered, intended to refuse Buffon’s request, but the instant she unfolded the white cloth, shock overwhelmed her and she instinctively nodded in agreement.

"Where did this come from?" she asked, voice trembling.

"Not the Alubarna one," Buffon replied calmly.

Receiving confirmation, Robin said earnestly, "Thank you, Captain Buffon!"

Buffon nodded, continuing to suture Saul’s injuries. "There’s something else I need you and Saul to do..."

Upon hearing Buffon’s arrangement, Robin was astonished. The item involved was something only someone intimately familiar with Baroque Works could know.

"What kind of person is Captain Buffon, really?" Robin fell into deep thought again.

As Buffon finished the last stitch, Robin’s personal mount, Banana-Croc F-Type, had arrived. She and Saul climbed aboard, dashing toward the Sandora Canal.

Moments later, Saul’s voice echoed, "Captain Buffon, Juventus and I await you!"

Buffon waved after him, contemplating the whole affair.
