The settlement was over very quickly, and in the process even the injuries, fatigue, and other conditions on Murong Xun's body were restored.
But by then, Murong Xun was so flush with wealth that he no longer cared about that little expenditure at all.
This time, he could be said to have struck it rich.
Setting aside his other gains, he had already made a killing simply by selling his braised heart and lungs.
With those merits, apart from buying the Killing Shadow equipment, he had either hoarded vampire hearts or, at the end, exchanged everything for World Essence.
That stuff was not easy to come by. He had never seen anyone selling it, and when he finally encountered some, he wiped out the rest of his merits and bought it all.
In addition, he had made more than 20,000 Paradise Coins from selling potions, dark cuisine, and the like, not to mention the two purple-grade pieces of equipment now on him. And that was to say nothing of the many items still left uncounted in his personal space.
Still, at the moment he had no mind to sort through any of it. He only wanted to collapse into a deep, dead sleep first.
After all, while in the war world he had seemed fairly safe, how could he really dare to let his guard down?
Now that he had finally returned to a place of absolute safety, he could at last loosen up.
More than ten hours later, after casually stuffing himself and taking everything out of his personal space, Murong Xun was left dazed at the sight of the heap spread across the floor.
The items on the ground had been taken from the treasury: eleven in all. Five of them were complete sets of White Knight mithril armor, immensely valuable, though unfortunately they were utterly useless to him.
All were top-grade fine equipment, and because they were complete sets with helmets, cuirasses, gauntlets, greaves, and the like, their value was even greater—far beyond that of ordinary fine gear.
Aside from those, there was a gemstone glowing with a faint purple light.
There were four potions, and at the end, a staff.
That was everything he had obtained from the treasury.
Yet compared with the thing he had taken out last, Murong Xun felt these items were hardly worth mentioning at all.
It was a bead, but its radiance was a brilliant gold, so dazzling and soul-snaring that one could not bear to look away.
[Azure Deep Orb: Azure Deep Set 1/5]
[Quality: Legendary]
[Attribute: All Resistances +10%]
[Attribute: All Bonuses +10%]
[Passive: Spellcasting Cost -20%]
[Passive: Spell Power +50%]
[Skill One: Azure Deep Shelter, consumes 10% of current mana to form an all-around shield.]
[Skill Two: Azure Deep Guardian, can store up to 10,000 points of mana for use at any time to replenish oneself.]
[Skill Three: Azure Deep Fury, the celestial river surges into a raging wave ten thousand feet high.]
[Set Skill One: ???]
[Set Skill Two: ???]
[Set Skill Three: ???]
Looking at that string of skills and all the percentage bonuses, Murong Xun's breathing quickened for an instant. In the end, however, it still settled back to calm.
This thing was most useful to a mage; for him, its effect was somewhat less pronounced.
What puzzled him, though, was that he kept getting top-tier mage equipment one after another. Did that mean something?
Most important of all, this was golden legendary equipment!
And it was one part of a set. He had no idea how strong the full set's skills would be.
Though he thought this, he still equipped it. He had a great many empty gear slots on him now, and even if it was not the most suitable item for him, it was still useful.
With this piece as a foundation, he felt far more composed when looking at the rest.
He first examined the gemstone.
[Titan Stone: the power crystal of a certain creature]
[Quality: Rare]
[Attribute: Power Burst +50%, effective only when the attribute is below 20 points]
[Titan's Fury: let out a furious roar to intimidate enemies and inflict a stun effect!]
[Titan Body: Defense +20%!]
Seeing this gem, Murong Xun immediately decided where it belonged.
The Primeval Hand Gloves had thirteen socket slots, and until now there had only been one gem in them. This one filled the vacancy perfectly.
After setting the gem aside, Murong Xun finally turned his attention to the remaining items.
The potions were all different, each of them premium quality and each with its own use; naturally, he would keep them for himself. The remaining staff was a rare piece of equipment.
[Rare Mage's Staff: an ordinary-looking staff, plain and unremarkable.]
[Quality: Rare]
[Attribute: Casting Speed +10%]
[Passive: Focus, meditation speed +10%]
[Passive: Critical Insight, chance to trigger double casting when attacking!]
[Skill One: Scorched Earth, summon a massive fireball to strike a designated location; the targeted area will continue burning after the attack.]
Plain and unremarkable attributes. Though he had not seen many loose pieces of equipment, Murong Xun could still tell that this item was very ordinary—at least, for purple-grade gear, it was.
[Mithril Knight Armor Set: you absolutely do not want to face the person wearing it]
[Quality: Fine Top-Grade Set]
[Attribute: Magic Resistance +70%, Physical Resistance +70%]
[Passive: any spell damage power -30%]
[Passive: Tenacity, while armored, health recovery +1% per second]
[Set Passive: Stone Wall, any physical damage power -30%]
[Set Passive: Unyielding Will, 30% of any attack received is reflected back to the attacker, ignoring defense!]
[This effect is valid below Tier Two; above Tier Two, the effect is reduced accordingly]
When he saw these attributes, Murong Xun was delighted at first. But upon reading the final line, he could not help feeling a little regret.
Without that limitation, the value of this set would have doubled. Still, it made sense: if there were no restrictions, it would not merely be a fine top-grade set.
If a knight wore such a set, it would truly be terrifying!
He could not help thinking of the four holy knight brothers. If those four fellows wore this thing and kept buffing one another, they would only become even more like immovable bulwarks. By then, surely no one would be able to break them.
After all, he had already seen how fearsome Fang Yuan's strength became after transforming, and yet when fighting those four, he had been worn down to the point of collapse. That alone showed just how formidable they were.
