With the combat puppet holding the front line and Boya assisting from behind, Mu Rongxun couldn’t quickly finish them off. Under his relentless assault, however, the puppet grew battered and its durability plummeted.

Seeing this, Boya was both distressed and anxious. If the puppet faltered, she would be in grave danger. She had plenty of items on her, but none that could guarantee her safety at a time like this—especially after having expended so many resources earlier to lure over the Undead Legion.

Soon enough, the combat puppet was shattered by Mu Rongxun’s blade.

“I’m with the Broker! You can’t kill me!” Boya hastily revealed her identity.

But Mu Rongxun remained unmoved, continuing his attack. Boya exhausted every trick she knew, but she couldn’t escape his onslaught and was ultimately beheaded in a single stroke.

Only after receiving the kill notification and seeing the appearance of the Bloodstained Emblem did Mu Rongxun relax, assured that she wouldn’t come back to life. He pocketed the emblem, fed the corpse to the Primordial Gauntlet, and, once the effects of the Nightfall Elixir wore off, turned toward the potion shop.

After a full day of fighting, exhaustion weighed heavily on him. The last battle had drained him considerably. Activating his Darkness Affinity talent for combat constantly consumed his energy, and the physical toll was doubled. If he pushed any further, he might collapse before anyone else.

Entering the potion shop, he locked the door and went straight to his room to rest. At this point, business was the least of his concerns—not that anyone would be coming at this hour, anyway.

He slept as if in a stupor, only waking up the next day, roused by hunger.

After preparing a simple meal to appease his stomach, he finally had the leisure to inventory his spoils.

This haul was enormous—so much so that when he laid everything out, he could hardly believe his eyes.

First, there were two Bloodstained Emblems, one of which belonged to Lan Nuo.

He began with Lan Nuo’s emblem.

[In Slaughter Mode, you receive all remaining Paradise Coins from your opponent. You gain 936 Paradise Coins!]
[You obtain Miscellaneous Item x1!]
[You obtain a stack of Basic Talisman Papers!]
[You obtain a White Tiger Greatsword!]

[You obtain Miscellaneous Item x1!]
[You obtain a stack of Basic Talisman Papers!]

Five consecutive draws, and only one piece of equipment—the rest were either worthless or just basic talisman papers. Mu Rongxun shook his head. They were all clever, deliberately stuffing their personal spaces with junk so that, even in death, their valuable gear wouldn’t fall into someone else’s hands.

The White Tiger Greatsword was just a plain item, worth a few hundred coins at best—not nearly a fair return for the battle fought. The total haul barely reached two thousand.

Mu Rongxun suspected he'd already used up all his luck.

He put those items away and took out Boya’s Bloodstained Emblem.

[In Slaughter Mode, you receive all remaining Paradise Coins from your opponent. You gain 1,422 Paradise Coins!]
[You obtain a woman’s undergarment!]
[You obtain an adult toy!]
[You obtain a Broker’s Secret Auction Invitation!]
[You obtain a bottle of Life Recovery Elixir!]
[You obtain an Aurora Bracer!]

He drew a sharp breath at the last item—purple!

He saw an item of a color he had only read about in Qiqige’s data. This was his first time seeing such a thing in person.

No matter what, it was a treasure. For this item alone, the whole venture was worthwhile.

As for the lingerie and the adult toy, he simply burned them, keeping only the three useful items. The potion was self-explanatory—he could use it or sell it.

[Broker’s Secret Auction Invitation: A private auction. With this invitation, you can enter through the Magic Tower.]

The Broker?

Mu Rongxun’s face remained impassive. Boya had claimed she was with the Broker, but so what?

[Aurora Bracer: A personal collectible of Grand Duchess Efesoa, given as a gift to those who have aided her.]

[Quality: Rare Supreme]
[Passive: All Attributes +1!]
[Skill One: Aurora Flash—blink freely within ten meters, consuming 2-10 energy per use, 5-second cooldown.]
[Skill Two: Aurora Ray—unleash a ray that consumes massive energy and deals tremendous damage!]

The description was simple, but Mu Rongxun was thoroughly satisfied.

With this equipment, he now had long-range assault capabilities—no longer would his slow speed prevent him from catching an opponent. What’s more, there was an attack skill included.

He felt a chill of fear. This must have been the reward Grand Duchess Efesoa gave them for completing the mission, but Boya hadn’t had time to check her prize. If she’d been wearing this, he might not have been her match at all—especially since she could have escaped, and he’d never catch her.

Fortunately, it all belonged to him now.

Without hesitation, he strapped the bracers to his wrists, concealed their special effects, and now owned his first piece of purple gear.

From Qiqige’s dossier, he remembered that equipment prices increased tenfold with each tier—plain gear fetched a few hundred coins, blue-quality was over a thousand, most falling in the thousands, while purple rare gear started at ten thousand.

These bracers were top-tier purple, so their value would be much higher.

Grand Duchess Efesoa certainly lived up to her reputation—her generosity was unmatched. Anything among her collections was extraordinary in itself.

Mu Rongxun had truly struck it rich this time.

He didn’t realize that only the nine who entered the castle received the mission reward—he assumed all participants did, marveling at the Grand Duchess’s largesse.

Regardless, getting an extra prize could only be good for him.

Now, he looked forward to what rewards he would receive, and there were still eleven treasures from the vault to be examined.

Just as he was about to check his gains, a rapid knocking came from outside.

“You brat! Locking the door in broad daylight? Open up, quick!”

The gruff voice of Modo sounded from outside.

Mu Rongxun hurried to tidy up, then ran to open the door.

The old man was back—time to learn even more.
