“Damn!”
Seeing that his attack had barely any effect, Yi Thirteen let out a dissatisfied huff and recalled all his flying swords.
With his right hand forming a sword gesture, under his control, the flying swords merged together one after another, forming a gigantic sword ten meters long.
With a downward swing of his right hand, the colossal sword smashed straight toward the Vampire High Commander.
The monster, which had been flying at a tremendous speed, suddenly moved as if trapped in a swamp, its actions sluggish, and was struck squarely by the giant sword.
Boom!
A massive figure crashed down from the sky, instantly bringing disaster to the dwellings below.
Tang Ao and the others, hiding in the shadows, could feel the ground trembling beneath their feet.
“Roar!”
With a furious bellow, the monster attempted to rush up from the ground, but because of the cramped terrain, it was forced to fold its wings in resignation.
It didn’t choose to fly through the opening but instead crashed through the adjacent walls in a brute display of force.
But how could the wooden structures possibly withstand such devastation!
Yet just as Yi Thirteen was preparing to strike again, he frowned, looking below.
At some unknown point, the previously empty street below was now packed with people.
He hadn’t even seen how these people had appeared—as if they’d materialized in an instant.
It even gave the illusion that they had been there all along.
Unclear about the situation, Yi Thirteen didn’t dare descend rashly.
The Vampire High Commander, however, cared nothing for this. Seeing so many frail humans before it, it let out an excited cry.
It had previously been harassed by a group of monkeys, wasting a great deal of time, followed by a battle—though it hadn’t been injured, the recent blow had consumed much of its blood energy. Now that prey had appeared, it was the perfect opportunity to replenish itself.
Without hesitation, the over-two-meter-tall monster grabbed a person beside it and brought them to its mouth.
After gulping down fresh blood, it tossed the corpse aside and reached for its next victim.
“Boss, that guy woke those monsters up ahead of time—what should we do?”
The Monkey swallowed nervously.
“What the hell do you think I can do!”
Tang Ao muttered in a low voice, deeply irritated.

Originally, their task was complete and the reward within easy reach. Who would have thought that just as they were about to leave, a Vampire High Commander would block their path? And before they could even escape, the other slumbering monsters had been awakened by that thing.
As the creators of these terrifying beings, no one understood better than they just how horrifying these creatures were.
Unaware of any of this, the Vampire High Commander continued seizing people to drink their blood, quickly piling corpses upon the ground.
But just as it was feasting gleefully, it suddenly sensed something amiss.
What had been mere prey—those who hadn’t fled—had somehow surrounded it, their hands gripping its body.
Before the Vampire High Commander could react, it saw these people mimic its actions and sink their teeth into its flesh.
“Roar—”
In agony, the Vampire High Commander let out a furious howl, violently shaking off those who clung to it. Its bat wings unfurled as it tried to take flight.
But at that very moment, the people around grabbed its wings and, with a savage pull, tore both wings clean off.
The Vampire High Commander howled in pain. Everyone witnessing this scene felt a chill run down their spines.
Its claws flailed, killing those who dared approach, but the endless tide of people quickly engulfed it.
High above, Yi Thirteen watched coldly, with no intention of intervening.
There was something deeply unnatural about this.
His own flying swords had failed to pierce the Vampire High Commander’s flesh, yet these people had bitten it so easily, even tearing off its wings. Was this not absurd?
Within the surging crowd, the Vampire High Commander’s resistance grew weaker and weaker, until at last it collapsed completely.
And to Yi Thirteen’s horror, the people who had fallen also rose once more—including those who’d been drained of all blood.
A strange unease crept into Yi Thirteen’s heart.
As a cultivator, he placed great trust in his instincts, and he knew something extraordinary was happening here. He wanted nothing more than to leave at once.
But by now, the people below had noticed him. Though they could not fly, they began searching for ways to attack him.
They hurled stones, and even tore apart nearby buildings, flinging wooden beams at him.
Twelve flying swords spun in a protective circle around Yi Thirteen, so nothing could come near him.
But being attacked endlessly was not a solution, so he decided to strike back.
Leaving one sword beneath his feet for movement, the other twelve shot down, whistling toward the crowd below.
At first, Yi Thirteen had thought these people would be strong, but he soon realized he was mistaken—they were incredibly weak. His flying swords pierced through them effortlessly.
The twelve swords flew at such speed, in straight lines, that soon half the street was covered in corpses and blood flowed everywhere.

Yet more people surged in from farther away, trampling over the bodies of their own kind without hesitation.
Feeling his magical energy rapidly depleting, Yi Thirteen knew he couldn’t afford to be drawn into a prolonged fight and had no choice but to leave.
He didn’t even have time to check the task he had just triggered.
And as he flew off, the people below chased after him relentlessly, forming a great, unbroken procession like a marathon.
But what Yi Thirteen didn’t see was that the people he had just killed were now rising from the ground as if nothing had happened, joining the pursuing throng.
“Are these the Undying?”
Only when the terrifying figures had disappeared from sight did Tang Ao finally let out a long breath, the tension in his heart at last easing.
“Boss, what kind of monsters did we create? That old man’s potion is just too terrifying!”
The Monkey’s heart was still racing.
The other three wore the same expression.
“What’s there to be afraid of? The mission’s complete. All we have to do is wait for the War World to end, return to the Magic Tower, and collect our reward.”
Tang Ao chuckled.
“After this job, we’ll finally have enough to upgrade our gear and prepare for the advancement quest!”
“Boss, you always think ahead.”
Adé flattered him with a subtle smile.
“But boss, didn’t we lure that kid here? Aren’t we going to deal with him?”
The Monkey sounded resentful; just thinking about how a rookie had bested him in the last mission made him uneasy.
“There’s no way I’m letting him off that easily.”
Tang Ao’s expression darkened.
“We’ll rest a bit, then go find him. Letting him die in War World would be letting him off too lightly—we’ll find him ourselves and make him regret ever coming to this world!”
