“So you’re from the Zhuge family. What now—are you trying to use the prestige of the Western Marquis clan to intimidate me?” Jiang An said with a smile.

The handsome man met Jiang An’s eyes without the slightest trace of fear and spoke with complete confidence. “So you know of the Zhuge family. Good. We have always treated our friends with courtesy, but when it comes to people who refuse to appreciate kindness…” He gave a cold chuckle. “We don’t mind teaching them a lesson in proper conduct. Sir, this is the last time I’ll speak to you politely. The rose in this establishment is no longer available. Please leave.”

Before Jiang An could reply, a string of footsteps suddenly sounded behind him, followed by a voice calling out, “Brother Qi! I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Your little brother arrived late and kept you waiting!”

As soon as the voice faded, a delicate-looking young man came over and took a seat not far from Jiang An. He shook hands with the handsome man behind the bar, then slapped a thick stack of money onto the counter.

The handsome man gave a sly grin and accepted the cash. Leaning toward the young man’s ear, he whispered something and pointed at Jiang An.

The handsome young man then turned and went toward the back, while the delicate young man sized Jiang An up from head to toe. At the same time, Jiang An studied him as well.

So this was the man who had tried to steal the rose from him.

The fellow had a beautiful young woman with a graceful figure in his arms, while a large man dressed in black followed behind him. A textbook spoiled heir.

“Ahem. Brother, my name is Mi Tongfu. Since you know about the rose, you’re obviously no ordinary person. But I really do need this rose this year, so I’ll have to ask you to give it up. How about this—we become friends, and you let the matter go? Meier, go sit with this brother and have a few drinks with him as an apology.”

Mi Tongfu actually had the nerve to say such a thing. At his command, the beauty in his arms rose from his lap and sauntered toward Jiang An, her slender waist twisting seductively. A wave of fragrance rushed into his nose.

Jiang An raised a hand and pointed from a distance. The young woman instantly froze in place, a seductive smile still lingering on her face.

He said indifferently, “Don’t try to act familiar with me. I already told you: what belongs to me, no one can take away. While I’m still in a good mood, get lost.”

Mi Tongfu’s eyes tightened, and he was about to explode, but the bodyguard behind him suddenly changed expression and whispered, “Second Young Master, this man is trained. Be careful.”

Mi Tongfu nodded and replied softly, “I know. I have a plan.”

Then he laughed loudly. “So you’re a martial artist. What a coincidence—I love making friends with people like you. A little arrogance is only natural. But you came here alone, and you need the rose’s help, so I’m guessing you’re from some minor family. Have you heard of the Mi family of Rong City? Do me this favor, and I’ll make it worth your while—”

“Enough nonsense!”

Jiang An had lost patience. With a wave of his hand, a sharp crack rang out. Mi Tongfu was slapped through the air by an invisible force, spun once, and slammed hard onto a nearby dining table. The table shattered, followed by a chorus of screams and crashing sounds.

Everyone in the bar froze. Even the band stopped playing, and every face turned toward them.

Mi Tongfu had been struck so hard that he was dizzy and disoriented. When he staggered to his feet, his face was swollen and flushed, while food of every color clung to his head and clothes. He looked utterly wretched.

“Fine! I was being polite to you, but you dared to hit me? You’re dead!”

Furious and humiliated, Mi Tongfu pulled out his phone to make a call, only to discover that the screen had been smashed. Enraged, he hurled it at his bodyguard and shouted, “Are you blind? I’ve been beaten and you still won’t fight? You can’t even make a call? Get some people here!”

The bodyguard was suffering in silence. The moment Mi Tongfu had been sent flying, he had instinctively wanted to rush in and fight. But when Jiang An’s cold gaze swept over him, he had been so terrified that he nearly wet himself. That was why he had not moved. He had a strong premonition that the instant he made a move, he would be the next one beaten.

But he could not disobey the Second Young Master either. Trembling, he took out his phone. Before he could dial, Mi Tongfu had already rushed over, snatched it away, and pointed at Jiang An.

“Just wait! If you have the guts, don’t run!”

“Looking for trouble here? You’re asking to die!”

The handsome young man emerged from the back at some point. He held a scarlet rose in his hand and glared coldly at Jiang An.

Then he ordered, “Take him down and throw him out onto the street!”

“Yes!”

A group of burly men charged out from every corner of the bar, frightening the surrounding customers into fleeing or hiding to one side.

Same bar, same spoiled brats.

As the men closed in from all directions, Jiang An impatiently waved his hand. It was as though an invisible club swept through the air. The surrounding thugs were instantly flung away one after another, their faces battered and swollen, their limbs broken. They smashed into countless tables and chairs before rolling across the floor, groaning in agony.

Jiang An then extended a hand toward the handsome man.

“Give it to me, and I’ll pretend none of this ever happened.”

But the other man did not appreciate his mercy. Though he was clearly somewhat frightened, the handsome man sneered and threw the rose to the ground, crushing it beneath his foot.

“Hmph! You offend the Zhuge family and still expect to take something belonging to us? Don’t think that having a little ability makes you some grand person. Have you eaten too much shit?”

“Exactly! Brother Qi, let’s kill this bastard together!” Mi Tongfu spat on the floor and said viciously.

“Don’t worry. In the southwest, no one can offend the Zhuge family and walk away safely. I’m right here. If you have the ability, kill me. Otherwise, don’t blame me for killing you.”

The handsome man was genuinely vicious. He bared his teeth as he spoke.

His words were so vile that Jiang An had already sentenced him to death. Yet he did not act immediately. For one thing, he did not want to dirty his own hands. For another, crushing a person’s spirit before killing him was the cruelest punishment of all.

“It’s fine. Keep cursing. I’ll give you time to call for help.”

A trace of murderous intent stirred in Jiang An’s heart. He had no intention of letting them off so easily.

Mi Tongfu and the handsome man both froze, clearly not expecting such a reaction. But in the next moment, the handsome man sneered.

“You won’t shed a tear until you see the coffin. I’ve met plenty of fools who still fancied themselves heroes when a blade was already at their throats. Tongfu, just watch. In a little while, he’ll be weeping and kneeling to beg for forgiveness.”

“Hahaha! A fool is a fool. He’ll probably lose control of his bladder and bowels too.” Mi Tongfu laughed, only to aggravate the injuries on his face and cry out in pain.

Jiang An no longer paid attention to the last words of the two men who were already as good as dead. He simply sat where he was, calm and unhurried.

Bzzz, bzzz!

The phone in Mi Tongfu’s hand suddenly vibrated. His face lit up, and he immediately answered.

“Brother, yes, I’m at the No Return Bar. Hurry over! That man is about to get away!”

“Oh, your family moves quickly,” the handsome man said with a laugh. “You really are the Mi family’s true heir. But people from my Zhuge family should be arriving soon as well.”

Mi Tongfu waved his hand. “What true heir? How could I compare with you, Brother Qi? Haven’t I always relied on your protection?”

The handsome man, Zhuge Qi, accepted the flattery without hesitation—because it was true. Even though he was merely an insignificant collateral member of the Zhuge family, no one outside dared slight him. Even the heirs of prominent families had to treat him with courtesy.

“Tongfu, what happened? Who bullied you?”

At that moment, a man in a well-tailored suit entered through the doorway with a large group behind him. They came in aggressively, clearing the bar as he spoke in an indifferent tone.

Mi Tongfu was overjoyed. He pointed at Jiang An and shouted, “That’s him! Who knows where this idiot came from? Not only did he injure me, he also wrecked this place. He’s practically begging to die!”

“Brother Gaohan, it happened exactly as Tongfu said,” Zhuge Qi added.

“I see.” The suited man nodded. “Brother Zhuge, I’ll give you an explanation.”

He took two steps forward, folded his arms, and addressed the figure seated before the bar.

“My name is Mi Gaohan. Anyone who can injure so many people alone must be a fellow from the underworld. Let’s talk this out. You’d better give me an explanation.”

“What kind of explanation do you want?”

Jiang An slowly turned around. His handsome face looked rather stern beneath the gentle bar lights.

It was as though lightning had struck his heart.

The instant Mi Gaohan saw Jiang An’s face, his expression froze. His knees went weak, and he nearly collapsed. Someone beside him hurriedly caught him, but could not stop his whole body from trembling or his teeth from chattering.

“Brother, what’s wrong?”

Mi Tongfu instinctively moved to support him.

But Mi Gaohan suddenly sprang forward, rushed straight to him, and kicked him hard in the chest, sending him sprawling. He then snatched up a table leg from the floor and began beating his younger brother with all his strength, each blow more vicious than the last.

“You useless idiot! I’ll beat you to death! Beat you to death!”

Everyone around them was dumbfounded.

Why had Mi Gaohan suddenly started beating his own brother? The enemy was right there! Could he be trying to kill his brother while he had the chance, so he could seize the family fortune for himself? That explanation was far too absurd!

Zhuge Qi hurried over and tried to pull him away.

“Brother Gaohan, you must have made a mistake. Why are you hitting Tongfu? Stop—”

Mi Gaohan raised his head. His bloodshot eyes fixed on Zhuge Qi, and then he brought the table leg crashing down onto his head, knocking him to the floor. He continued beating him without mercy.

“You troublemakers! Look what you’ve done! You brought this on us!”

Mi Gaohan showed no restraint whatsoever. He swung the table leg again and again, striking both Mi Tongfu and Zhuge Qi as though they were donkeys, until blood and flesh flew and the two men screamed in agony.

“Stop! Mi Gaohan, no one cares if you beat your own brother, but why are you hitting Zhuge Qi? Don’t force me to turn against you!”

Another group of people stormed into the bar, packing it to the brim. The tall man leading them shouted angrily.

“Zhuge An!”

Mi Gaohan roared at the tall man. Then he cast him an anxious look and whispered, “Those two bastards offended that man!”

Following the direction of Mi Gaohan’s gaze, Zhuge An looked over.

Beneath the lights, that familiar figure sat with an expression of perfect calm.

His pupils contracted, and his scalp went numb. He immediately bent down, seized another table leg, and began hammering the two bloodied men gasping on the floor with all his strength. He struck even more viciously than Mi Gaohan.

“You bastards! You’re going to get us killed! I’ll beat you to death!”

Every attendant from the Mi and Zhuge families stood frozen in place, utterly at a loss.

Had the upper class suddenly developed a passion for destroying their own families?
