Liu Mengchao watched the prize pool before him with leisure and ease.

Thanks to the observer mode, he had gained a complete understanding of the three reincarnators. They were now in the depths of despair, awaiting their final demise—struggling, screaming, breaking down.

“Well done, Makoto Ito.”

Liu Mengchao nodded gently, smiling at Makoto Ito on the screen. This pawn, unearthed from the previous horror film, had now entered the world of reincarnation.

Makoto Ito’s hatred toward the reincarnators would only grow, fueled by their actions. From the original state of being tormented, he would transform into the new tormentor. Every time the reincarnators treated the plot characters carelessly, Ito’s anger would accumulate.

That anger finally erupted on the night Saya Takagi died.

Thus, the deaths of these two reincarnators were something Liu Mengchao had expected.

Predictable deaths: one reincarnator who would abandon anything to survive, and another plot character who exploded with limitless resentment.

Pffff...

Suddenly, a puff of blue smoke rose before Liu Mengchao.

The three meteors, representing the reincarnators, shone with even greater intensity.

Curious, Liu Mengchao opened the view, observing their final moments.

The car door nearest to Li Xin was pulled open first. She collapsed helplessly in the seat, watching the zombies crawl inside, just as the men had once crawled into her bed.

With yellow, mottled teeth, the zombie bit fiercely into her thigh, blood spraying before her eyes. Li Xin, unable to contain her emotions, screamed aloud.

“Bite, bite!”

Crunch!

Another bite.

The zombie squeezed in, pouncing onto Li Xin’s body, biting its way up her smooth abdomen, swallowing clothing and flesh alike, until the light left Li Xin’s eyes completely.

Boom!

Another sound.

Ye Yutian turned around in terror; now, only his head could move.

“Finally... finally my turn...?”

A zombie slowly appeared before Ye Yutian. This one, he recognized.

Rei Miyamoto.

Half her body gone, scorched marks covering her, her once bright orange hair now blackened into charcoal.

Despite it all, she moved quickly.

The pretty young girl, as lively as those real-life women who appeared in Ye Yutian’s life, happily flung herself onto him.

Gnawing, bite after bite, tearing flesh.

Ye Yutian turned his head in a daze, looking at Makoto Ito beside him, suddenly smiling.

The sound of bone fragments crackling in Miyamoto’s mouth accompanied the change in Ye Yutian’s expression.

A mouthful of blood sprayed from his lips, splattering all over Makoto Ito’s face. Makoto enjoyed it, savoring the desperate screams and final expressions of the two—their hopelessness, a despair that saw no light even from hell.

“Come!”

Makoto Ito closed his eyes, opened his arms, and welcomed his teammates—the very targets of his hatred.

The two reincarnators, now turned into zombies, crawled like insects toward Makoto Ito, opened their mouths, and with a crunch, bit into his neck.

Watching his own blood spurt before him, Makoto Ito finally felt a trace of satisfaction—a satisfaction in death.

The three meteors before Liu Mengchao, representing the reincarnators, fell. Like small flames doused with water, they sputtered softly and then went dark forever.

Only the prize pool before Liu Mengchao reminded him of all that had transpired in the rain.

Prize pool total: seven hundred thousand.

Saeko Busujima still stood behind Liu Mengchao, her brows slightly furrowed. She had yet to see Qi Xiaoxiao’s figure, and worry crept into her heart.

Suddenly, Liu Mengchao stood up.

“Where are you going?”

“Where?” Liu Mengchao turned, smiling at Saeko Busujima. “To pick someone up—a very important person.” Without waiting for Saeko’s response, he faced her, stepping backward until he reached the rooftop edge.

“Careful!”

Saeko Busujima cried out nervously, but she was too late. Liu Mengchao had already jumped.

Leap of Faith, Assassin’s Creed style—eyes closed, Liu Mengchao savored the sensation. Below him, it felt as if a strange breeze supported his fall.

Both hands raised slightly.

Shing! Shing!

Hidden blades extended!

Thunk! Thunk!

Two muffled sounds as the blades stabbed into zombies’ heads.

A spinning kick, and Liu Mengchao landed safely, unharmed. He waved up at Saeko Busujima on the rooftop, smiled, then turned toward his goal.

Qi Xiaoxiao, in the rain, was smiling now. She felt her body heating up, sweat seeping from her back.

Pain wrapped around her like chains.

“Liu Mengchao...”

Qi Xiaoxiao swayed, smiling through the blood at her lips as she looked at the approaching figure.

“Brother...”

Alice peeked from behind Qi Xiaoxiao, gazing at Liu Mengchao.

“Thank you for your trouble.” Liu Mengchao spoke as he helped Qi Xiaoxiao up.

“I can walk by myself.”

Qi Xiaoxiao frowned, insisting. Seeing Liu Mengchao before dying, she felt no regret.

“Shut up.” Liu Mengchao smiled and shook his head, repeating the phrase Qi Xiaoxiao loathed: “Flat-chested girls have no rights.”

The weight of both girls slowed Liu Mengchao’s steps. Yet he walked lightly, passing zombies without making a sound, as if on a stroll, arriving before the Takagi residence.

Left hand, right hand.

Up, down.

Alternating hands like a spider, Liu Mengchao quickly climbed the wall, listening to Qi Xiaoxiao’s breathing behind him.

Her breaths were faint, like a lamp about to go out.

“You still want to find your father, don’t you, Qi Xiaoxiao?” Liu Mengchao said as he climbed.

No response came from behind.

Liu Mengchao didn’t mind.

“I’ve secretly looked at your photos. You used to have an older sister—you never told me about her. And I noticed, your sister’s chest is much bigger than yours.”

“Nonsense...”

Qi Xiaoxiao retorted with her last bit of strength.

“I’m not lying. I saw it right away—she has great potential.” Liu Mengchao spoke slowly; the rooftop was now in sight. At least here, no zombie could climb up—a safe haven.

In Liu Mengchao’s mind, all stimulants had a limit; once you exceeded it, death soon followed.

But what if you didn’t use that power?

It was the best option he could think of.

“Liu Mengchao!”

A hand appeared before his eyes.

Saeko Busujima.

“Thank you.” Liu Mengchao grabbed her hand, using his strength to haul himself and the two girls onto the rooftop.

“If you don’t mind,” Liu Mengchao continued holding Qi Xiaoxiao, “I’d like to watch the sunrise with her for a while.”

“Mm...” Saeko Busujima smiled at Liu Mengchao, took Alice’s hand, and said, as the little girl looked puzzled, “Alice, remember: if you fall for someone, you must be prepared.”

“Prepared?”

“Give absolute trust to the man you acknowledge.” Saeko Busujima looked at Liu Mengchao and Qi Xiaoxiao ahead.

Rain and flames intertwined, with rising smoke lending a hazy beauty to this hellish scene.

Liu Mengchao sat there, Qi Xiaoxiao in his arms, breathing weakly. Sweat mixed with rain, soaking her through.

“Liu Mengchao...” Qi Xiaoxiao struggled to reach out, touching his face. She felt no strength left; even raising her hand exhausted her. “Tell me... how can I transfer my points to someone else?”

“Oh?”

Liu Mengchao only smiled in reply.

“Don’t... don’t be stubborn...” Qi Xiaoxiao, eyes half-closed, leaned against his chest, gently inhaling the scent she loved. “You must live—you can do it.”

“And you?”

Liu Mengchao tilted his head, letting rain fall on his face, slide from his eyes, and drop onto Qi Xiaoxiao’s smiling lips.

“Seeing you once more is enough for me.”

“I refuse.”

“Why...?”

Qi Xiaoxiao’s voice was so weak that Liu Mengchao had to lean close, but still couldn’t hear her words.

But after years of knowing her, he understood her doubt.

His answer was simple, yet infuriating.

“Your chest is too small. Flat-chested girls have no rights.”

Pffft.

This time, Qi Xiaoxiao wasn’t angry. She simply smiled, closed her eyes, and leaned into Liu Mengchao’s embrace. She was tired, wishing only to sleep in his arms, peacefully, undisturbed.

“Qi Xiaoxiao.” Liu Mengchao looked down at the girl in his arms and whispered, “Don’t go out.”

The last meteor, representing the final reincarnator, struggled with faint light before Liu Mengchao.

This light was weak, but strong—just as strong as the girl in his arms.

Not yet born, her father took her sister and abandoned her and her mother. At eight, she left her happy home with her mother and began a wandering life. At sixteen, her mother passed away. Alone, she struggled across the ocean, blood and slaughter accompanying her growth.

Family martial arts helped her survive crisis after crisis. But whenever she gazed at the night sky, she remembered the boy who had been by her side.

He was annoying—but she liked him.

Liked him, liked him so much.

Qi Xiaoxiao’s lips slowly curled upward, her skin at the corners of her eyes creasing with joy.

Liu Mengchao didn’t move, simply watched the meteor before him.

Time slipped by unnoticed, under the star’s glow.

Until the first ray of sunlight pierced the clouds, Liu Mengchao finally relaxed. The meteor before him, representing the reincarnator, still shone, though faintly.

Baiya’s voice sounded in Liu Mengchao’s ear.

“Highschool of the Dead world, complete.

Now reporting reincarnator status: Survivor, one.

Qi Xiaoxiao.

Lord God points: one thousand.

Would you like to transfer to Lord God Space?”

“Transfer.”

Liu Mengchao replied.

A white light slowly appeared before his eyes, taking the person before him and vanishing from sight.

Only then did Liu Mengchao finally smile in joy. He stood, squinting at the dazzling sunlight—bright, just like his mood.

“Inquiry: Does the Lord God’s agent wish to return to Lord God Space?”

“No,” Liu Mengchao turned to look at Saeko Busujima, removed the hidden blade from his right hand, and smiled, shaking his head. “I still have unfinished business.”
