Sekai Saionji, originally another heroine in the campus story, now seemed like the most pitiful bystander, gazing at the boy standing before her—the boy she once had a secret crush on, and perhaps still did: Makoto Ito.

“Makoto…” Sekai called his name with the utmost caution, afraid to upset him. Yet, to her surprise, Makoto’s expression was far better than she’d imagined.

“What is it, Sekai?”

Looking at Sekai’s rosy lips, Makoto suddenly felt a stirring in his heart. He wondered what her lips might taste like—would they be different from Qingqing’s?

Thinking of Qingqing, Makoto recalled the promise she had made to him.

“As long as, during the school festival, I find out you’re not entangled with any other girls, I’ll spend the night you want with you in the lounge.”

The night… he wanted…

Makoto felt his whole body begin to burn. His gaze, as if with a will of its own, slowly slid toward Sekai’s chest.

He wondered whether Sekai’s chest was larger than Qingqing’s. He really wanted to touch and find out.

“No…” Sekai’s eyes, however, were brimming with sadness. She realized that Makoto’s gaze had changed completely. It no longer held the clarity it once had when they sat side by side.

Now, his eyes were filled with the desires of an adult.

“It’s just… lately I feel…”

After some hesitation, Sekai made up her mind to speak frankly with Makoto. She liked the person he used to be and didn’t want him to become the way he was now, like a beast.

“Makoto!”

Suddenly, a crisp female voice rang out from a distance.

Sekai’s heart skipped a beat at the sound.

Qingqing Zhang—the exchange student from China, and now Makoto’s girlfriend.

“Oh? What a coincidence to find you here too.” Qingqing had already walked to Makoto’s side, immediately taking his arm and beaming at Sekai, who stood before them.

“Um…”

Sekai had always been a brave girl; she couldn’t let Makoto drift further and further away from everyone. If things went on like this, he would become just like Kotonoha Katsura—isolated and despised by all.

“I have something I want to say!”

Summoning her courage, Sekai’s eyes sparkled with determination as she looked at Qingqing.

“Then say it. I’m not stopping you, am I, Makoto?” With that, Qingqing gave Makoto a quick kiss on the cheek, her eyes full of love for him.

“You… you can’t keep going on like this!”

Sekai felt her whole body trembling. Ever since Makoto started dating Qingqing, he hadn’t spoken to any other girls in the class. And because Qingqing said that Taiga Zae wanted to take advantage of her, Makoto even lost his only male friend. Now, except for Qingqing, Makoto was almost completely alone, and he seemed totally unaware.

“You two… like this…”

“What about us?” Qingqing smiled, moving Makoto’s hand from her backside to her chest for all to see.

I detest girls like you the most, Sekai Saionji, she thought. You, who failed to keep another woman away from your man, do you really think such a useless man is so important in your life?

The more anger seethed within Qingqing, the sweeter her smile became.

“Makoto…”

Qingqing reached out, hooked her arms around Makoto’s neck, rising on tiptoe.

“Sekai Saionji doesn’t want us to be together,” she said. Then, before Makoto could react, Qingqing pressed her plump red lips to his.

For a long while, their lips remained joined.

When they finally parted, Makoto gazed at Qingqing in a daze, murmuring, “Then what should I do, Qingqing?”

“What should you do?” Qingqing loosened her collar, revealing a generous expanse of snowy skin, and stared directly at him.

“Tomorrow night is the school festival, isn’t it? Do you still remember our agreement?”

“I remember!” Makoto replied excitedly, completely ignoring Sekai, whose face had turned pale.

“Then now is the time for you to fulfill your promise, Makoto. Cut off all these ambiguous relationships with other women!”

Cut them off?

Makoto looked at the innocent-faced Sekai and felt a pang of guilt.

Useless man. Qingqing, seeing Makoto still standing there hesitating, realized she’d have to help him make the decision herself.

Her slender jade-like hand took hold of Makoto’s wrist, bringing his hand in front of her.

“Whew!”

Qingqing gently blew on his palm.

“What are you doing?” Sekai, snapping out of her daze, stared in shock at Qingqing.

“What am I doing?” Qingqing smiled sweetly at Sekai, as if she were speaking to her dearest friend. “Naturally, I’m helping my man say goodbye to those women who don’t know their place.”

Smack!

With that, Qingqing guided Makoto’s hand in a slap across Sekai’s cheek. A vivid red mark instantly appeared on the girl’s pale face.

“I…” Makoto stared at his palm in disbelief.

“Darling, remember tomorrow night.” Qingqing paid no heed to Sekai, whose eyes brimmed with tears. Instead, she gently cradled Makoto’s hand, blowing on it softly. “Did it hurt, Makoto?”

“N-no…”

“Really?” Qingqing looked up, her pure gaze unexpectedly laced with seduction. “Then hit her again, my man.”

My… man…

Makoto’s gaze lingered on Qingqing’s full bust and slender waist. He felt a dry, burning heat in his throat.

Forgive me, Sekai!

He turned his hand, and—smack!—struck her again, leaving matching marks on both of Sekai’s cheeks. Tears welled up in the girl’s eyes, valiantly held back.

Is this… really the Makoto I knew?

Her silent eyes overflowed with disbelief.

Finally, tears spilled over. For the first time, Sekai realized she could let Makoto go, as if those tears had washed away every last trace of her old affection for him.

“Thank you, Makoto.” Without a hint of emotion, Sekai looked at him as if he were a stranger. “I’ve finally come to know the real you.”

“Get lost!” Qingqing barked before Makoto could speak. “We never want to see you again, you wretch!”

Heartbroken, Sekai ran back toward the classroom, oblivious to the fact that everything that had just transpired had been watched by Mengchao Liu.

Huh?

From the window, Liu Mengchao, who had been observing Qingqing, suddenly noticed that the jackpot total had shifted again.

Jackpot total: 31,000.

Qingqing Zhang?

Mengchao Liu regarded Qingqing, who was still kissing Makoto, with an amused expression, a new idea forming in her mind.

Clearly, it wasn’t being with Makoto that stirred such intense feelings in Qingqing. The only reason must be what just happened with Sekai. As a psychology expert, Mengchao Liu understood that Qingqing’s fury stemmed from seeing a reflection of her former self in Sekai.

In other words, she might have discovered Qingqing’s greatest psychological weakness:

Contempt for men, and hatred for women’s weakness.

Now that she knew the weakness, if she wasn’t careful, a severe enough psychological blow could push Qingqing into collapse. If she did that, it would be far too cruel.

Wouldn’t it? As a deputy of the Lord God’s Space, perhaps one shouldn’t treat new arrivals to the reincarnation world so harshly—if only Qingqing’s heart could be made a little gentler.
