As Osiris and Kate were talking, on the other side, a tall and burly man dressed in a black trench coat was carrying a large suitcase, walking over from a distance and stopping beside Yingling.

“That’s Louis,” Yingling whispered softly, intending to introduce this young man to the host.

The leader of the Gray Gloves, Chief Inspector Eagle, looked up and glanced at the man Yingling had mentioned earlier—Princess Osiris had also brought him up at the train station, calling him Louis. And now, this Louis stood right beside the princess.

Eagle couldn’t help but be stunned.

They looked exactly alike!

Soon after, Eagle saw Stewart running over from the door, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead. Yingling didn’t know the relationship between the boss and Stewart, but Eagle did. Judging by Stewart’s shameless demeanor, he was probably the boss!

Big sister, what’s going on? You’re acting strange! Didn’t you recognize the boss? How long has it been since you last met?

“What’s wrong, Chief Inspector Eagle?” Yingling asked calmly.

“Ah, the weather in Britannia is really hot. It’s already autumn, yet the temperature hasn’t dropped,” Eagle said, wiping the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. “Director Yingling, I’ll be heading to the Magicians’ Association shortly.”

Eagle’s current rank was not much lower than Yingling’s, yet he still spoke politely.

“Alright, Mr. Eagle. Be sure to put in your best effort with the Ministry of Magic’s affairs this time. Maybe later, I’ll be calling you Director,” Yingling replied with courtesy as she took a drag from her cigarette. “The Magic Enthusiasts’ Association might see many visitors recently. Though I don’t know who exactly, I can usually dig up their backgrounds. So if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.”

Unlike Ross, Eagle’s identity was unique—he belonged to the magical world’s underworld. He couldn’t disguise himself as a warden, but he had his own way into the Ministry of Magic—by surrendering.

For the Ministry, recruiting the rebel leader of the Gray Gloves was a great advantage—though, times were peaceful now. The wizarding world’s situation was rock solid; everyone was united against outsiders. There was no reason to stir up trouble.

Yet many had secretly supported him before, and many feared him. So no one dared assign him a position.

Initially, the Ministry planned to place him in the “Secret Retirement Office.”

In the past, Eagle would have been delighted. Now, he felt a headache coming on. But he was patient, knowing someone would come looking for him.

Like Queen Delphinia.

What surprised him was that the one who came calling was the Red Queen—the twisted, sickly vampire!

Once again, she extended an olive branch, asking if he would follow her.

Eagle said he just wanted to retire and collect insurance—he preferred Queen Delphinia. He didn’t want to join the Red Queen. The boss seemed quite interested in the Witch Queen, so Eagle planned to infiltrate the enemy as a spy for the boss.

The Red Queen earnestly tried to persuade him, explaining the current wizard and Muggle dynamics and Delphinia’s ambitions. She hoped this troublemaker would carry on her disruptive legacy, promising many benefits and painting grand visions of the future.

After hearing these grand plans, Eagle hesitated. To be frank, he had no desire to get involved with this twisted woman.

But after listening, he suddenly felt that being a spy for the Red Queen might be more meaningful.

In the end, Eagle was “convinced” and accepted her offer.

The Red Queen was extremely pleased that this man, whom she had failed to recruit multiple times before, finally followed her. Eagle’s power wasn’t overwhelming—only slightly stronger than Ross—but he was a figure like Song Jiang, famous in the underworld. He knew the notorious gamblers and even had former henchmen.

This gave the Red Queen a great sense of pride—she had struck gold.

Eagle thought it wasn’t a bad deal either—the Red Queen had once turned the Black Dark Lord into an exceptional vampire and severely wounded him (in fact, she had essentially destroyed him, shattering one of his mirrors). Serving as her spy wasn’t disgraceful.

The Red Queen didn’t immediately offer Eagle a high-ranking post but started him as a chief inspector. This time, Eagle came to prove his loyalty—to help the wizards win.

He was a major spy in Louis’s hands.

As he left, Eagle glanced at the boss but noticed the man didn’t even look at him, which puzzled him. Then a voice came through.

“Go, Eagle. After the birthday banquet, the Ministry of Magic might set up a branch here. Make sure you do well this time. I’ll create opportunities for you to become director. Having the Secret Retirement Office under your command will be convenient. When I’m on business trips, you can manage things in Britannia… but you might face some competition for the director position.”

Louis found it satisfying to have his subordinate report back to his superior.

Eagle’s eyes flashed with a hint of killing intent.

“Don’t worry, master! No one but me will take that director seat!”

He chatted briefly with Yingling, then lowered his felt hat and exited through another gate.

After sending Eagle off, Osiris finished chatting with Kate.

Osiris introduced everyone. Louis was somewhat surprised that Yingling and Kate knew each other, and Kate even addressed Yingling as Countess.

Noticing Louis’s confusion, Osiris quietly explained while Kate and Yingling talked.

“During King Isolde’s reign, some wizards supported his ascent. So King Isolde granted them titles—mostly foreigners. They belong to the open faction of wizards and hold territories among ordinary people.”

Osiris lowered her voice. “They only appear during major events and rarely show themselves in the mundane world, but the great nobles all know these wizard families. These wizards have resolved many disputes between the magical world and external kingdoms. They act as a bridge between ordinary people and wizards.”

This time, Osiris intended to give her father a heads-up, so she invited Yingling. Besides, having a proper Ministry official like Yingling made many things easier during this gathering of events.

Yingling was fond of lively occasions, and since Blackhorn Alley was now particularly peaceful, her duties as the Blackhorn Alley branch chief, like Bol, mostly involved getting her hair done, manicures, or playing cards. So she took a vacation from her superior—her sister-in-law—and came here.

She also came to help Eagle.

“Oh, and there’s one more person—Louis. I’ll introduce him properly. Maybe you’ll be under his command in the future... Huh? Where’s Chief Inspector Eagle?”

Osiris was a little disappointed; she had wanted to flaunt her connections to Louis but didn’t expect Eagle to leave early on important business.

Louis rolled his eyes silently—those connections were arranged by him.

At that moment, the sycophant Stewart had arranged a carriage and was taking the luggage—the car couldn’t hold so much.

As one of the only two men, Louis took on much of the luggage, helping everyone out of the station.

As they walked, Yingling’s eyes darted like a fox’s behind the group. She sensed a familiar scent and felt something was off about Kate—she had never seen such a rosy-faced, attractive widow before!

Now walking, she became even more suspicious.

Something was wrong. Limping.

Yingling noticed Kate seemed to take special care of Osiris, Louis, and Helen. It was normal for an older sister to look after everyone, but something felt off.

‘Osiris’s pretty boy is suspicious. He must have been fooling around outside these days!’ Yingling narrowed her peach blossom eyes and looked at Louis with increasing suspicion.

Soon they reached the busy street outside. Stewart arranged for the coachman to load the luggage and doffed his hat to bid farewell.

“Ladies, let’s meet back at the hotel later. Anyone want a ride?”

His words reminded Louis to count—besides himself as the driver, there were five others. One too many.

Osiris wanted to chat with Kate, Helen wanted to take the fast carriage, and Lilith wagged her tail and immediately argued with Helen for the front passenger seat—both wanted to sit beside Louis. Yingling smoked silently, refusing to choose.

Louis rubbed his forehead, looking at the reporters snapping photos nearby.

“Then pile in, ladies.”

He opened the rear door, helping Osiris and Kate in, then looked at Yingling, who said nothing. To his surprise, Yingling opened the front passenger door, dragged Lilith out, and picked up a bewildered Helen.

“Sis, it’s so comfy leaning on you,” Helen fidgeted on Yingling’s lap.

“You little brat, don’t touch around—you’re almost as tall as your sister. All height going up, nothing going forward?”

“Wahhh...”
