Gao Tianxiong carried his son to the room and then returned to sit on the living room sofa. Since they had met, Gao Tianxiong took the opportunity to report on the group’s status and the progress of handing over half of the Luo family’s assets in the southern city.

After hearing this, Hong Chen gave no specific instructions; he was too indifferent to meddle in business operations. He said, “In the southern city, let Gao Yuanjie stay on your behalf. Holding the title of the group’s heir is quite advantageous. Later, I’ll have Luo Song hold a banquet to apologize—any lost face will be restored.”

A look of surprise flickered across Gao Tianxiong’s eyes. He had originally planned to bring Gao Yuanjie back to the northern city and either send him abroad or assign him to a subsidiary. After all, Gao Yuanjie’s intentions toward Hong Chen’s wife were akin to a powerful minister’s son coveting the empress; even if unintentional, unlucky, or overlooked by Hong Chen, he felt an explanation was necessary.

Unexpectedly, Hong Chen himself suggested restoring Gao Yuanjie’s official position. Such magnanimity toward a subordinate left Gao Tianxiong speechless.

“But don’t involve the Shen family anymore. If they make a move on my wife, that’s no longer accidental but deliberate. You, as his father, are responsible for persuading him,” Hong Chen emphasized.

Gao Tianxiong nodded cautiously in agreement. Hong Chen then shifted the topic: “Once the Medical Saint Tournament and the entertainment industry leadership contest settle, I plan to bring Su Ling to the northern city.”

Mentioning Su Ling, Gao Tianxiong’s expression darkened briefly, hesitating before reporting the recent intelligence he had gathered about her.

Hong Chen frowned slightly, surprised by how difficult Su Ling’s life had become. Tapping his finger on the table, he fell silent for a minute before saying, “Ten or fifteen days won’t make much difference.”

Gao Tianxiong silently nodded.

After chatting a while longer, Hong Chen called Luo Song. Since the elder Luo had entrusted him, Hong Chen naturally accepted and did not avoid contact with Luo Song.

Half an hour later, Hong Chen took his leave. Leaving the villa area, he saw a silver-gray Porsche Cayenne parked by the roadside and got into the passenger seat.

Luo Song had come to drive personally, dressed casually with a baseball cap, looking several years younger than when in formal attire. Seeing Hong Chen, he was visibly excited. After Hong Chen treated Elder Luo’s illness, that very night the elder called Luo Song to his room and talked for two hours.

Since then, Luo Song had been waiting for a call from Hong Chen. A week passed before Gao Yuanjie contacted him instead. Honestly, he felt quite disappointed—not out of resentment but because he thought he must have underperformed when first receiving Hong Chen, causing Hong Chen to look down on him.

Another week went by, and with one-third of the Luo family’s half assets handed over, Hong Chen still hadn’t called. Luo Song had given up hope, but unexpectedly, they met today in such a setting and even stirred up quite a lively scene together—a pleasant surprise.

Hong Chen smiled. “I was going to contact you after the Shen family’s birthday banquet. Since we bumped into each other, let’s have you stand in for me—make full use of resources. The elder said you have great business talent, and it seems true. I don’t know much about business, but I do understand that the most important thing in business is reading people and having tacit understanding. That’s how everyone can cooperate well.”

Receiving praise from Hong Chen, Luo Song felt flattered but maintained his composure, smiling: “You flatter me, Divine Doctor Hong. It’s an honor to serve you.”

Hong Chen waved his hand. “We’re friends in private, not doing business with each other, so no need for formalities. You call me Young Master Chen; I call you Young Master Luo. The southern city is your home turf, so I’ll follow your lead on what comes next.”

Luo Song acknowledged this, then said, “Young Master Chen, it’s almost four o’clock now. How about going to my place? I’ll have my family prepare dinner.”

Hong Chen countered, “How is the elder’s health?”

“My grandfather is very well—better than he was at seventy. He even said if there were a fighting tournament now, he’d be tempted to move his old limbs.”

“In that case, I won’t go to your place. To be honest, I don’t like the atmosphere of large families.”

Luo Song responded, “Then let’s go to a tea lounge, then I’ll take you to a restaurant with specialty dishes. In the evening, some friends will come for drinks and dancing, then we’ll head to a special midnight auction…”

Hong Chen nodded without objection.

Luo Song drove to a leisure tea bar. They drank milk tea, ate some snacks, and chatted for over an hour before heading to a restaurant called Wild Taste. Two of Luo Song’s friends arrived: a man named Li Chengming and a woman named Yuan Shuang, both from quasi-first-tier families.

Both were casual and talkative, not reserved at all, nor did they inquire about Hong Chen’s background. After Luo Song’s introduction, they mingled like old friends, which pleased Hong Chen.

The dinner featured some unusual dishes, but the taste was excellent. Hong Chen ate until about eighty percent full, yet still reluctantly gnawed on a rabbit leg and drank a bowl of wild game soup.

After dinner, two cars went to a bar named Sea Waves—a themed bar of modest grade but decent popularity. The key feature, according to Luo Song, was that all the hostesses were students—a major attraction.

Upon entering the main hall, Luo Song ordered the number one booth with a minimum spend of twenty thousand. The four sat down, and a female manager arrived with six hostesses and two handsome men.

“Manager Zhang, this friend is from out of town. Recommend one for him,” Luo Song said, pointing to Hong Chen.

The manager understood immediately and scanned the hostesses. Before she could name anyone, the third girl—a youthful girl in gray and white—stepped forward: “Manager, do you think I’d be suitable?”

This girl’s face looked younger and more innocent than the others, seemingly under eighteen.

The manager frowned. Luo Song’s request implied the best choice. She intended to recommend one of the two top-ranked girls, but this newcomer named Xue’er had only been there a few days.

“Alright, let it be her,” the manager said, about to find a polite excuse to refuse, when Hong Chen’s voice suddenly sounded, tinged with amusement.

This girl’s self-recommendation suggested experience in nightlife, but Hong Chen could tell at a glance she was a virgin. He had no negative thoughts—in fact, at least if drinks got mixed up, she’d be relatively clean.

Xue’er smiled at Hong Chen, her eyes crescent-shaped and cheeks dimpling naturally, without pretense—like the smile of a Lin family girl.

Hong Chen approved; the manager had no grounds to object further. Luo Song picked a hostess with a model’s figure, Li Chengming chose a cute type, and Yuan Shuang openly chose a handsome guy.

With the pairings set, they began drinking and having fun. Xue’er poured drinks for Hong Chen, fed him fruit and snacks, handed him napkins—all without being told. Even when Hong Chen went to the restroom, she followed and waited outside, tending to him like a lord.

To be honest, Hong Chen enjoyed it. He had been to many nightlife venues but never encountered such a purely innocent hostess.

She was pure in that any physical contact made her nervous, though she didn’t verbally refuse. After only two drinks, her small face flushed red. Hong Chen considered himself fairly upright; otherwise, he would have plied her with several more drinks and taken her upstairs directly.

After about an hour of fun, an intense dance track played. Luo Song was about to suggest hitting the dance floor when five or six men and women rushed over. Luo Song frowned, about to speak, when the leader—a blond man—bowed and said, “Sorry to disturb your good time, everyone. We’re just here to catch a thief.”

Everyone was puzzled. Xue’er suddenly grew tense, her expression fearful and uneasy. She trembled, grasping Hong Chen’s arm. Hong Chen looked at her in surprise: “What’s wrong? You’re not…”

Before he could finish, the blond man stepped forward, seized Xue’er by the hair, and cursed, “You filthy bitch, stole my watch! Been looking for you for days.”
