Chapter Ninety-Three: Meeting Chu Yuxi
Imperial Hotel.
Room 888.
His head ached slightly.
What he had just glimpsed with his Eye of Insight still left him unsettled.
Shen An practiced the breathing technique once more, and only then did he regain much of his composure.
“It seems I can’t make a move against Xu Tianming yet; the secrets he carries are considerable,” Shen An thought to himself.
In this world, he was not the only one favored by Heaven, able to access resources; there were likely others as well. Yet, their opportunities differed.
Shen An had only come this far with assistance from the future.
As for Xu Tianming, it appeared his benefactor belonged to another faction.
That faction was sealed underground or perhaps in another space, unable to emerge for now.
“Strange. By all rights, this world should have undergone complete awakening. Why is there still no sign of movement?” Shen An’s doubts mounted.
Half a month had passed, yet nothing significant had occurred.
Even the earthquakes had ceased.
The fluctuations of elemental oxygen he sensed during his cultivation had not increased.
“Could it be that the butterfly’s wings have stirred differently than what the future predicted?” Shen An mused. It wasn’t impossible.
From the very beginning, things had shifted.
The abilities he had gained differed from those in the future.
The future had merely attained ordinary conditions for cultivation.
But Shen An had received devouring abilities, spatial powers, and talents that could be upgraded.
These were prerequisites that the future simply couldn’t match.
After pondering fruitlessly for a while, Shen An resumed his cultivation.
A whole day passed in this manner.
He discovered that the range of his Eye of Insight had grown considerably, and his strength had advanced yet again—he was now at the mid-stage of the third tier.
When Shen An opened his eyes, he saw that night had already fallen.
“Boss, Chu Yuxi is here to see you,” Mu Linqiu said as soon as he stepped out.
“I know,” Shen An replied, having already sensed her presence.
He quickly went to meet Chu Yuxi.
She wore a white dress, her shoulders bare, collarbones prominent.
Her figure was not the slender type, but rather strikingly curvaceous in all the right places.
Chu Yuxi’s waist was slim, her posture upright; overall, her presence was exceptionally eye-catching.
At this moment, she sat quietly, sipping fruit juice.
Shen An approached.
“So, what brings you to me?” he asked.
Chu Yuxi turned her head angrily.
“If I didn’t come find you, would you never see me again?”
Shen An felt unjustly accused, a bit bewildered.
“I’ve been busy lately. Besides, you’re a heiress—what business would I have seeking you out?”
He sat casually beside her and poured himself a glass of juice.
“No, it’s not right. What happened before was my fault, and I’ve come to apologize,” she said.
“I’d long forgotten about it,” Shen An replied, knowing exactly what she meant.
Back then, he had acted as Chu Yuxi’s bodyguard. An unexpected incident had occurred because of a spirit fruit.
“So, who ended up with your family’s spirit fruit?” he asked.
“It went to someone in the family. Are you interested too? But I’ve heard spirit fruits are hard to find now. Our family only has a few left, and if you want one, there aren’t any more,” Chu Yuxi replied with innocent candor.
“So the spirit fruits are rare now?” Shen An asked, curious.
There was still a fruit tree in his spatial realm. He wondered where the Chu family had obtained their spirit fruit.
Perhaps he could search in the same places and gain some potential value.
The growth of potential value was always Shen An’s priority.
Not only could it enhance his potential, but it could also be exchanged for many things.
He had always desired the abilities of a spiritual telekinetic, and later there was a body refinement technique as well—just from their names, he could tell they were formidable.
The benefits of the Eye of Insight spoke for themselves.
Shen An could see through many things.
Mu Linqiu’s invisibility was now, in Shen An’s eyes, no different than being unclothed.
But Shen An was not the type to ogle others; he merely saw Mu Linqiu in her normal state.
“Of course they’re rare. Aside from our family, the authorities have acquired only a few fruits,” Chu Yuxi explained.
Suddenly, Shen An realized he might have misunderstood the nature of the spirit fruits.
He had always assumed they were picked from the fruit tree, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
“Where did those fruits come from?” This was his most pressing question.
“I don’t know. I heard they appeared underground, but I’m not too sure. Though, I heard there’s a fruit tree—and it appears in different places each time. No one dares approach where it grows. Many don’t believe it, but those who enter never return,” Chu Yuxi said, recounting rumors as if they were facts. Shen An pondered thoughtfully.
Could it be? In that case, the Chu family’s fruits likely dropped from the tree.
Whereas Shen An had taken the entire fruit tree away—his fruits came from picking them off the tree itself. There was a distinction.
He wondered if there was any difference between the fallen fruits and those he picked himself.
Moreover, the fruit tree seemed extraordinary, able to manifest in different places.
The last time Shen An encountered the fruit tree, the area was fraught with danger. Had he not approached the mysterious cave, he might have faced peril.
And that time seemed to be a stroke of luck—he felt there was danger, but it never truly threatened him.
Perhaps it had been nothing more than fortune.
The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became.
“Come, let me treat you to dinner,” Shen An said, rising.
“Isn’t this place already a restaurant?” Chu Yuxi responded.
“Are you coming or not?” Shen An said impatiently.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Chu Yuxi replied, her smile radiant.
They went to an upscale venue.
Chu Yuxi’s status was unique—a national goddess, desired by many.
The places they visited were off-limits to paparazzi, media, or anyone attempting covert photos; so although many recognized her along the way, no one disturbed them.
Those dining here were either wealthy or exceptionally powerful; some were wise enough to keep to themselves, while others recognized Shen An and Chu Yuxi’s backgrounds.
“Well, Boss Shen, Miss Chu, welcome,” greeted the manager of the newly opened club.
“This place belongs to the Sun family, doesn’t it? Why did you bring me here?” Chu Yuxi asked curiously.
“The Sun family is said to be the foremost of the Four Great Families. I’ve always been curious, and the environment here is quite nice,” Shen An replied.
Those who truly knew him called him “Boss Shen.” Others addressed him as “President Shen,” or “Director Shen,” but Shen An preferred “Boss Shen.”
The club manager clearly understood his preferences—a skill honed by the great families, their perceptiveness unmatched.
The two sat in a corner, and the staff brought tea and snacks.
“You said you’d treat me to dinner, but this isn’t enough to fill me up.”
“If you’re really hungry, I’ll take you to a street vendor after this,” Shen An said with a smile.
“That sounds good! I’ll hold you to it,” Chu Yuxi replied.
Shen An nodded.
