Chapter 139: Absolutely Brilliant
Chapter 139: Truly Spectacular
Inside the surveillance room, everyone stared in shock as the beast collapsed. They had expected Shen An to defeat the beast, but not to do so with such ease.
“Incredible! Absolutely spectacular! Even in a state of starvation, that beast’s explosive power is astonishing. Even a late third-grade Awakener might not withstand it, yet he… he held firm. Such skill…” an earl exclaimed in astonishment.
“Everyone finds it unbelievable, but this was exactly as I anticipated. It seems he truly possesses considerable strength,” the Third Elder said with a beaming smile. He fully supported Shen An, and Shen An’s victory was his heartfelt hope.
“So this is a strong individual with a talent value of one hundred thousand? Truly a formidable force, I’m quite shaken myself,” another earl remarked.
“Previously, I didn’t think much of this person, but now I believe he genuinely deserves to become an earl within our Masters’ Council. He looks so young—probably just in his early twenties, right?” the Vampire Earl asked.
The Grand Elder nodded. “So, the earls all agree. In that case, Shen An may now join your ranks.”
“Welcome this young earl to our midst. It is indeed an honor.”
“An honor, indeed.”
“With such a young earl joining us, our Masters’ Council will undoubtedly grow stronger. We look forward to his contributions.”
The crowd chatted animatedly, exchanging remarks.
At that moment, the Grand Elder declared, “Then let us go welcome this young earl. Adding a new earl to the Masters’ Council is truly exciting. Come to think of it, it’s been quite a while since we last appointed one—ten years, has it not?”
“The Masters’ Council hasn’t seen a new earl in fifteen years. Although the younger members work exceedingly hard, they haven’t yet qualified. But this young man? He absolutely qualifies,” one earl said.
“Haha, yes. Over a decade without a new earl. This young man truly brings fresh blood to our Masters’ Council,” the Grand Elder said.
“Grand Elder, I believe the young earl has been waiting a long time. Shall we go find him now?” the Second Elder suggested.
---
“Indeed, indeed. To be recognized by all the elders and earls together, he will surely lead our Masters’ Council to glory,” the Third Elder said warmly.
Soon, Shen An arrived at the Masters’ Council plaza, accompanied by several elders and earls. The plaza was magnificent, adorned with a colossal Statue of Liberty replica, surrounded by fountains and lush gardens.
At this moment, Shen An became the focus of all eyes, as if countless halos radiated from him, causing a dizzying effect.
“Who is that young man standing among the earls and elders? What great honor allows him such a position?” a young onlooker asked, envy clear in his gaze.
Only one type of person could stand among the Masters’ Council elite—a status nearly equal to that of the elders themselves. No other explanation seemed possible.
“It’s truly enviable. To stand among the elders and earls like that… If only I could stand there, I’d willingly fight a thousand battles.”
“He looks so young. Could some earl have taken a liking to him and brought him up there?”
...
Around the plaza, several hundred distinguished figures gathered—all at least first-grade Awakeners and members of the Masters’ Council.
They speculated about the reason the elders had summoned them, curious about the matter at hand.
The Grand Elder’s gaze swept across the crowd with commanding solemnity. “All of you are members of the Masters’ Council. Today, I have an important announcement to make. Please listen carefully. This matter is an honor for our Council.”
“What could it be that makes it such an honor? What is the Grand Elder talking about?”
“Yes, what is it? I don’t understand at all.”
“Could the Grand Elder be about to announce something astonishing? Judging by his expression, it must be something significant.”
The crowd buzzed with speculation and restlessness even before the Grand Elder spoke.
---
“From today forward, our Masters’ Council will add a new earl. This earl is just barely in his twenties, but his strength has been recognized by all elders and earls. Shen An, please come forward and say a few words,” the Grand Elder said kindly.
The announcement ignited the crowd instantly. How could this be? A new earl appointed outright—and one so young?
In all the years since the Masters’ Council’s founding, nothing like this had ever happened. Some even suspected the Grand Elder had been tricked by bad wine.
“No way—a young man as an earl? That’s unheard of in the history of our Masters’ Council. If he takes the earl’s seat, it might… it might overturn the entire history of the Council.”
“A earl so young—I’ve never seen anything like it. But did the elders and earls truly all agree? How could they consent to this?”
“Oh my, I must be dreaming. Don’t earls usually have an age requirement? At least fifty years old? And now, he’s just over twenty?”
“This defies logic. I must be hallucinating. What right does he have? How can he become a powerful earl?”
...
The crowd murmured in disbelief, but Shen An remained unmoved. He had the strength and qualifications to be an earl of the Masters’ Council—after all, he had flawlessly passed every test the Grand Elder had set for him.
That alone was enough qualification.
The Grand Elder gestured for silence, fully aware of the shock this news had caused.
Indeed, it was a truly astonishing announcement.
“I know you are all shocked and perplexed as to why I have appointed Shen An as earl.”
