At that moment, the black-robed man produced a pair of cyan claws. They resembled eagle talons and were frighteningly sharp.

The black-robed man swung the claws and struck through the air.

“Go to hell!” he roared.

The cyan claws came crashing down from above with such ferocity that even a man of iron would have found them impossible to withstand.

As the claw descended, Shen An merely swept his black iron sword across. He had already reached the middle stage of the Third Grade; no matter how fiercely the black-robed man erupted with power, he could not hope to inflict serious injury on Shen An.

The difference in strength between them was simply too great.

The black-robed man’s vicious strike was easily blocked by Shen An. Not only that, the sharp black iron sword cut straight through the black-robed man’s weapon.

“I told you this sword would take your life! Now die!” Shen An shouted coldly.

With a single sweep of his black iron sword, a cold blade-light flashed across the black-robed man’s neck.

A moment later, a faint line of blood appeared on the man’s throat, and he collapsed to the ground.

He was dead.

Watching this scene, Xu Tianming had fallen into despair.

“Brother Shen An, I beg you, please don’t kill me! Whatever you want, I can give you. Can’t we discuss this? I’ll give you Zhicheng Pharmaceuticals, and I’ll even give you luxury cars and beautiful women. All my money can be yours too.” Xu Tianming backed into a corner, his back against the wall, and had begun to babble incoherently.

“No… no… Please, spare me!” Xu Tianming begged repeatedly.

With a wet thrust, the sword pierced Xu Tianming’s heart.

Shen An turned and left without lingering any longer in the offices of Zhicheng Pharmaceuticals.

Only long after Shen An had departed did the awakened ones dare enter the office where two corpses lay.

Several of them stared at the dead Xu Tianming and the black-robed man, fear filling their hearts.

“The young master has been killed. What do we do?”

“That man seems to be in the early stage of the Third Grade. We’d better not provoke trouble. It would be best to keep this matter from becoming any bigger.”

“The young master’s death will spread soon. I’m afraid Zhicheng Pharmaceuticals’ reputation will be affected.”

“His reputation? At a time like this, you’re still worried about reputation when someone has died?”

“I think we should all scatter while we still can.”

After leaving Zhicheng Pharmaceuticals, Shen An intended to return to Future Group.

However, just then, he received a phone call. The voice on the other end was extremely urgent, as though there were some emergency that had to be reported to him.

Shen An developed an ominous feeling.

He pressed the answer button.

“This is Bai Weiwei. Nini and her mother have been captured by people from the Dark Group. They’ve taken them to an abandoned factory in the northern suburbs of Silver City. I was afraid the Dark Group would notice me, so I didn’t follow them. Can you rescue them?”

“I understand. Nini and her mother will be fine. If those people from the Dark Group dare lay a finger on either of them, I’ll make them regret ever coming to Silver City.”

With that, Shen An hung up.

Bai Weiwei had said that the Dark Group had gone to an abandoned factory in the northern suburbs, and that Nini and her mother were there as well.

An hour later, Shen An arrived at an abandoned factory in the northern suburbs of Silver City. Having been deserted for years, the place was badly rusted.

All kinds of rusted objects lay scattered across the ground. The abandoned factory bore the mark of a huge chimney, though the chimney itself looked as if it might collapse at any moment.

“So this is where Nini and her mother were taken?”

Shen An shifted his gaze and slowly approached the abandoned factory.

Several awakened ones were patrolling the area. The strongest among them was only in the early stage of the Third Grade, so they posed no threat at all.

With Shen An’s abilities, he could deal with them without even alerting anyone.

He slowly drew his black iron sword. To avoid alarming the enemy, Shen An decided to approach the abandoned factory by stealth.

That would also increase the chances of rescuing Nini and her mother.

The factory was roughly two hundred meters away. There was very little cover between them, and five awakened ones were on patrol. He would have to eliminate them one by one.

Shen An stared at Nini and her mother. Surrounded by more than a dozen awakened ones, the two ordinary women had no ability to resist at all.

What a wretched mother and daughter they were.

“Let them go,” Shen An said. “Otherwise, I’ll wipe out every one of you.”

“A fine claim, that you’ll wipe us all out. I’d like to see what you’re capable of. Take this mother and daughter to the branch headquarters. Leave this man to me.”

Two awakened ones quickly stepped out from Wang Cheng’s side and led Nini and her mother away.

“Hahahaha! What an unforgettable farewell scene. You’re an awakened one, so why are you mixed up with two ordinary people? And why would you fight the Dark Group for the sake of two mere civilians? Don’t you think the price you’re paying is far too high?” Wang Cheng could not understand it. He believed Shen An had no reason to fight over two ordinary people.

A chill filled Shen An’s eyes. He infused his black iron sword with origin energy, and a terrifying aura erupted from him.

“I told you to leave them here, but you refused. Now prepare to die!” Shen An roared, consumed by fury.

He had to eliminate these people as quickly as possible and then rescue Nini and her mother. He had a feeling that they were in grave danger. If he did not save them in time, they might be plunged into an inescapable disaster.

He absolutely would not allow such a tragedy to occur.
