Chapter 112: The Kind-Hearted Dean
Chapter 112: The Kind-Hearted Director
A chill ran through Wang Gang’s mind, and his eyes suddenly glazed over.
He had a faint premonition that he was about to lose his life.
With a sharp *thud*, the black iron sword abruptly shifted from a slash to a thrust, piercing through Wang Gang’s neck. Staring at the bloodied sword that had impaled him, Wang Gang felt as if he were trapped in a nightmare.
Had he really been killed?
The awakened warriors witnessing this scene were all stunned.
None dared to make a move; among them, Wang Gang was the strongest.
Yet now, even he had been killed with a single stab.
The assassination played vividly in their minds; Wang Gang hadn’t even had the chance to react.
They believed they could never have blocked that fatal strike.
“You... you...” one awakened warrior trembled in fear.
“Don’t come any closer. We... we have Xu Shao backing us... you’d better not act rashly,” another warrior threatened, invoking Xu Tianming’s name to intimidate Shen An.
But it was all in vain.
Shen An sneered coldly and shifted his gaze. The murderous glint in his eyes silenced everyone present.
This was far beyond the strength of a second-rank warrior; the awakened ones even speculated he might be a third-rank master.
“Go back and tell whoever commands you that I will come for him soon. He’d better rein himself in; otherwise, the dead awakened warrior just now will be his fate. Now scram!”
Shen An’s words finally eased the tension among the awakened warriors.
Tail between their legs, they quickly fled the orphanage, unwilling to linger for a moment longer.
After dealing with the awakened warriors, Shen An approached Director Zhao.
Director Zhao’s face was filled with emotion. He had thought he would die today, as these people had threatened the orphanage more than once before.
“Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I fear this orphanage would have fallen into the hands of those wicked people.”
As he spoke, a trace of melancholy crossed Director Zhao’s face. He had realized that the people threatening the orphanage were no ordinary foes.
Because of Shen An, the orphanage had attracted this trouble, and retaliation might soon follow.
“Do you know who you’ve offended? Offending them means you may have no peace in the days to come,” Director Zhao warned.
---
Shen An smiled faintly; he hadn’t taken Xu Tianming seriously yet.
“Don’t worry. Leave this to me. I won’t let Xu Tianming’s men threaten the orphanage even a little.”
Director Zhao was a kind-hearted man, worried that Shen An might be harmed because of the orphanage.
This moved Shen An deeply.
The more so, the more determined he was not to let Director Zhao fall victim to Xu Tianming’s threats or persecution.
“Auntie, weren’t you going to get the adoption certificate from Director Zhao? Hurry along,” Shen An said.
Nini and her mother slowly came to their senses from the shock. Nini’s mother shielded Nini’s eyes to prevent her from seeing the body of the fallen Wang Gang, showing how deeply she cared for her daughter.
Her love was genuine.
She truly wanted to protect Nini.
Nini’s mother approached Director Zhao.
“Director Zhao, I’m here to process the adoption certificate. Please help me.”
“Follow me. This young man saved the orphanage, so I’ll take care of the adoption certificate,” Director Zhao replied with approval in his eyes.
He believed such a young man would surely achieve great things in the future.
Before long, Director Zhao had completed the paperwork for Nini and her mother.
Leaving the orphanage, Shen An gazed back at Silver City Orphanage, his heart heavy with mixed emotions.
Since Xu Tianming could oppress an entire orphanage in Silver City, it was certain he would threaten other places there as well.
“Xu Tianming, the person who killed your men this time, I’m sure you won’t let it go easily. If you’re not afraid of death, come find me. I’ll make you understand what true regret feels like.”
Previously, Shen An and Xu Tianming had clashed, stoking Xu’s fury. Now, with his men at Silver City Orphanage killed, Xu Tianming’s anger would only deepen.
“Auntie, you and Nini should head back first. I want to go out for a walk,” Shen An said.
“You must be careful. That Xu Tianming is not someone to provoke lightly. I always feel there’s more to him than meets the eye,” Nini’s mother warned anxiously.
“I can handle it,” Shen An assured her.
Nini’s mother shook her head, knowing that when Shen An said that, he intended to confront Xu Tianming.
Xu Tianming had many skilled subordinates. Could Shen An truly overcome him?
Realizing she couldn’t dissuade him, Nini and her mother soon left by car.
---
At that moment, in the basement of Zhicheng Pharmaceutical Building, Xu Tianming received a call.
“Young master, our men were killed. He... he... is too powerful...” came the panicked voice over the phone.
Xu Tianming furrowed his brows deeply. Who dared to provoke him?
He only sent his men to take over an orphanage; such a small matter should not have gone awry.
“You can’t even handle such a trivial task? Tell Wang Gang to come back immediately. I want to talk to him face to face,” Xu Tianming growled, slamming his fist against a stone pillar.
“Young master, Wang Gang... Wang Gang was killed. Silver City Orphanage is protected by a mysterious expert, whose strength might be close to third-rank.”
Xu Tianming’s expression turned serious. Close to third-rank? That meant even stronger than Shen An?
“Who is he? Did you get a clear look at him?” Xu demanded.
“It’s... it’s Shen An guarding Silver City Orphanage.”
Xu Tianming exploded with rage, nearly smashing his phone to the ground.
Again, it was Shen An. Shen An seemed to be everywhere, constantly opposing him.
“It’s always Shen An. I must eliminate him. His blood will be perfect for the offering to our master. Using the blood of an awakened warrior for the ritual will surely please our master,” Xu Tianming said, crushing the phone in his hand until it exploded.
---
“Men!” Shen An strode out of the basement.
Soon, a man dressed in black approached him. He was an awakened warrior under Xu Tianming, usually lurking within Zhicheng Pharmaceutical, only summoned on special occasions.
“Investigate a man named Xu Tianming. Find his location. I want to kill him personally,” Shen An ordered.
“Yes, sir. I’ll get on it immediately,” the black-clad man replied and withdrew.
What Xu Tianming did not know was that Shen An had already made his way toward Zhicheng Pharmaceutical.
He was searching for Shen An, and Shen An was searching for him.
Seated in the Zhicheng Pharmaceutical office, Shen An waited quietly for news, staring at his phone, eager for his men to locate Xu Tianming.
Only by killing Shen An could Xu Tianming relieve the rage burning in his heart.
He raised a cup of coffee from the desk, took a sip, but felt no interest.
“Damn it, I’m going to Shen An’s residence now and drag him out to present to our master,” Xu Tianming suddenly stood up.
At that moment, a figure arrived before the Zhicheng Pharmaceutical building—it was Shen An.
His eyes gleamed with icy resolve as he took deliberate steps into the building.
