Chapter 161: The Sixty-Nine-Year-Old Grandmaster
Watching Roan's retreating figure, Lacey called out loudly,
"Where are you going in that small villa?"
Roan didn't look back, answering as he walked,
"I'm going to see Augustus and remind him not to make any mistakes."
Lacey and Ryder: "..."
Seeing the speechless expressions on their faces, Roan smiled. He was just joking.
His real target was actually the six girls, especially the leader who was holding the cell phone.
Perhaps from that girl's lips, he could find out the location of the house where they were being held captive.
Inside the villa, Augustus sat upright, looking with extreme seriousness at the six girls seated on the large bed opposite him.
The moment the gunfire erupted outside, the color drained from the six girls' faces, and their instinctive reaction was to try to escape the small villa.
Augustus had to expend a tremendous amount of effort and energy to calm their emotions.
Unfortunately, because he needed to act his part, Augustus was not carrying any credentials related to the FBI.
Therefore, no matter how Augustus questioned them now, the girls tightly clasped their fingers, kept their heads bowed quietly, and uttered not a word.
Just as Augustus was standing with his hands on his hips in frustration, the battle outside had concluded, and Roan knocked on the door and entered.
Upon entering the villa, Roan first reported the outcome of the operation:
"Sir, the mission was a success. We successfully arrested Tony."
"Very good."
Augustus nodded in satisfaction, though no expression of surprise or shock appeared on his face.
It was merely a small-scale operation to ambush and arrest a criminal. Given Roan's past performance, only a failed operation would have shocked Augustus.
After briefly recounting the situation of the girls in the room, Augustus patted Roan on the shoulder, indicating that the rest would be left to him.
"No problem."
Roan nodded decisively in agreement, turned his gaze to the leading girl, and asked,
"Where precisely is the location where Tony held you captive?"
The clothes, equipment, and insignia on Roan were not just for show. This time, the six girls did not remain silent; they all answered Roan's questions.
Two of the girls even casually sized Roan up while answering.
Those two girls had clearly seen through the window when Roan knocked Tony flying with a single punch a moment earlier. Combined with Roan's handsome face right before them, their eyes began to gleam.
The leading girl spoke up:
"Tony blindfolded us before putting us in the car, so we don't know where that place is."
Roan's expression remained unchanged. He had already guessed as much from Janelle's account, and he continued to ask,
"After you got into the car, about how long did Tony drive?"
The girls looked at each other, whispered among themselves for a moment, and finally replied,
"About forty-five minutes."
"OK."
Considering the possibility that Tony might have driven in circles, Roan decided to have Mona carefully review the surveillance footage of that area later, and then continued questioning the girls.
Hearing Roan mention the doctor who performed the breast augmentation procedures, the girl who had watched him send Tony flying with a single punch hurriedly raised her hand and said loudly,
"I know his name!"
"What is it?"
"Edward Mikhailo!"
The girl stated the doctor's name, explaining that while she was performing a favor for him before he performed her breast augmentation surgery, she caught a glimpse of the driver's license information inside his pocket.
"Your information has provided us with immense assistance. Thank you very much."
Roan took out a notepad and asked the girl to spell out the letters of the name, then strode out of the villa and handed the paper to Mona.
"Run a check on this guy."
Roan said with a smile,
"If we're lucky, tonight we won't just be dining on the main course of Tony; we might even get a nice after-dinner dessert!"
"No problem!"
Taking the slip of paper handed over by Roan, Mona didn't hesitate, immediately turning and sprinting toward the nearby vehicle.
Just as young people a few years later could not live without their cell phones, Mona at this time could not live without her laptop.
Her ten fingers danced across the keyboard, and Mona quickly pulled up the relevant background information on this Edward Mikhailo:
"This guy immigrated to the Federation from Ukraine ten years ago and is now 69 years old.
Two years ago, his private clinic was shut down by the government due to financial issues, and he has been unemployed ever since!"
"A 69-year-old veteran still has such vibrant energy."
An image of a martial arts grandmaster flashed through Roan's mind, and he hurriedly shook his head, asking,
"Where does this guy live?"
"Right in East Queens!"
Having obtained the specific address, and since Roan and Mona needed to guard Tony and visit the hospital, Ryder and Lacey immediately drove toward the target location.
At 11:30 that night, in a dark alley on a certain street in Queens, Ryder and Lacey successfully apprehended Edward Mikhailo, who was busy discussing the meaning of life with a streetwalker.
---
The next morning, Major Case Squad 5.
Seeing Roan and Ryder walk out of the interrogation room, Lacey and Mona hurriedly approached and asked,
"How was it? Did Edward give up the hiding place of John and the others?"
Last night, Mona had carefully checked the surveillance footage of the area surrounding the villa, but because that region was currently under development, many of the surveillance cameras had been forced out of service, and Mona had ultimately come up empty-handed.
Throwing his notebook onto the desk, Roan picked up his coffee, took a small sip, and sighed,
"Edward would have liked to say something, but he simply doesn't know."
John maintained extremely tight security regarding the location of the house. Every time he called Edward to perform surgeries on the girls—just as when he took the girls out to provide services—he would blindfold Edward beforehand.
As for the breast augmentation surgeries, John was responsible for providing the materials and tools, while Edward was only responsible for performing the operation.
And the compensation John paid Edward was not specific monetary funds, but rather the services the girls provided to him at the start or conclusion of the surgeries.
Hearing the record of Roan's interrogation, Lacey spat on the floor and muttered a low curse,
"Old scum!"
Mona, standing nearby, cast her gaze toward the other interrogation room and asked,
"What should we do next? Continue interrogating Tony?"
"Yeah."
Roan downed the remaining coffee in his cup in one gulp, the bitter sensation rushing straight to his head and instantly clearing his mind. He then looked at Mona and Lacey, who were packing up their things, and said,
"Lacey, you and I will handle the interrogation of Tony in a moment.
Mona, I have a more important job for you."
Hearing this, Mona raised her head with a look of confusion.
Roan explained,
"The girls mentioned last night that Tony drove for about half an hour to reach the villa.
The locations provided by Jared are not far from there, plus the seaside pit where Janelle escaped..."
Hearing this, Mona widened her beautiful eyes in a sudden flash of realization:
"By cross-referencing the three areas with the travel times, we can pinpoint the general hiding zone of John and them!"
Throwing Roan a look that seemed to say, "You're so smart, why didn't I think of that," Mona immediately sat down at her workstation and began clacking away on her keyboard.
Giving Mona one last deep look and silently marveling at how fast she was improving, Lacey followed closely behind Roan toward the interrogation room.
At the entrance of the interrogation room, Lacey instinctively reached to push open the door, but Roan suddenly reached out and pulled her back.
"Huh?"
Lacey asked with a face full of confusion,
"What is it?"
Pondering for a long moment, Roan pulled Lacey to the other side of the corridor, some distance away from the interrogation room door, and said in a low voice,
"Lacey, you came from the Intelligence Division, didn't you?"
