Mo Lan and An Feng pondered throughout the night and finally decided they would join forces with Qian Yin and the others to confront the boss. When they tried to call, they discovered Qian Yin’s phone had been switched off the entire time. Helpless, they returned to the Mo family residence to ask the four youngsters for information.

Upon arriving, Mo Lan and An Feng checked on the four little ones and inquired, “Where has Qian Yin gone? Why can’t we reach her by phone?”

The four were busy helping Elder Immortal water the herbs in the courtyard. Elder Immortal and Old Master Mo were seated nearby, sipping morning tea and playing chess. The atmosphere was peaceful, until Mo Lan and An Feng interrupted it.

“Isn’t big sister with you? We tried calling her, but couldn’t get through. I thought she was with you, so we weren’t worried,” Xiao Bei replied, jumping up and nearly stepping on the herbs. Elder Immortal shot him a fierce glare.

Mo Lan and An Feng were startled. Could it be that Qian Yin had really gone missing, furious with them and ready to part ways?

“Did you two have a quarrel?” Old Master Mo, observing Mo Lan’s expression, sensed something was amiss. No wonder Qian Yin hadn’t been home lately.

Elder Immortal wasn’t interested in getting involved; as long as his apprentice didn’t abandon him here, he was content. Young people always have minor disputes—nothing unusual, certainly not worth making such a fuss over.

Who hasn’t fought when young? Who hasn’t quarreled?

Mo Lan and An Feng’s faces flushed red. They didn’t know how to explain—should they admit they meddled and barged in, causing that scene and the ensuing conflict with Qian Yin?

Seeing Mo Lan’s silence, Old Master Mo turned his attention back to the chessboard. Elder Immortal, refreshed by the morning, was blocking every move, refusing to let him advance.

With nowhere else to search, Mo Lan and An Feng stayed to help with chores.

Meanwhile, Qian Yin and Leng Xue drove back early in the morning. The new servants hadn’t met Qian Yin before and asked, “Young master, young miss, are you here to see someone?”

“I am Qian Yin,” she said suddenly, wanting to tease them a bit, for they knew nothing of how frightening she could be when angered. Leng Xue stood cooperatively at her side, silent.

“Oh, so you’re Miss Qian Yin. Please, come right in. Miss Mo Lan just returned and should be with Elder Immortal,” the servant replied, sharp-eyed from frequently hearing the others mutter, “Why hasn’t big sister Qian Yin come back yet?” He understood the situation immediately.

Qian Yin paused, surprised the new servant recognized her. Well, in that case, no need to play around—she simply walked in. Leng Xue and Qian Yin, hand in hand, made their way toward Elder Immortal. The path was familiar and neatly kept, exuding the warmth of home—a rare sense of belonging for their “little family.”

Upon arrival, they saw everyone busy at work. Qian Yin and Leng Xue exchanged glances and coughed conspicuously.

“Big sister Qian Yin, you’re back!” Xiao Bei reacted first, rushing toward her.

Without hesitation, Leng Xue stepped forward to block him. Now that Qian Yin was his girlfriend, he wouldn’t allow such reckless behavior. In the past, he’d tolerated the children’s antics out of necessity, but now, he could not permit such disrespect.

Xiao Bei, moving too fast, crashed directly into Leng Xue. Stung by the collision, he pouted at Leng Xue and snapped, “Can’t you see I want to hug big sister? Why did you, you blockhead, jump in the way?”

The others watched the scene unfold, entertained. Only Mo Lan and An Feng wore odd expressions—these two had vanished for days and now returned holding hands. The progress was astonishingly swift. Previously, they’d assumed Qian Yin’s mood was poor, and that was why she let Leng Xue hold her hand. Clearly, something was brewing between them.

“Now I am your sister’s boyfriend, your future brother-in-law. Mind your manners—don’t treat your sister so carelessly,” Leng Xue declared, the domineering CEO openly asserting his claim.

Qian Yin felt awkward, for the first time realizing she should keep a little distance from other men, lest this jealous man in front of her lose control.

Upon hearing this, the four youngsters were dumbfounded. Brother-in-law? Their sister had a boyfriend? This blockhead had managed to win her heart—what method had he used?

Elder Immortal, previously absorbed in chess, immediately shifted his attention to Qian Yin upon her return. She hadn’t lost any weight during her absence, so it seemed this boy was caring for her well. Both of them met his approval; living together would be rather pleasant.

“Is it true, big sister?” Xiao Bei protested. He liked his big sister too—there should be fair competition.

“Yes,” Qian Yin replied with certainty. Being with Leng Xue made her happy, secure, and content.

A trace of disappointment flickered in Xiao Bei’s eyes, and he fell silent. As the eldest, Dong patted his head and sighed—children don’t understand love. Besides, from the moment they met big sister, they should have known they could never have her romantically.

Mo Lan walked over, gently took Qian Yin’s hand, and apologized sincerely, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have misunderstood you. Will you forgive me?”

Qian Yin withdrew her hand, feigning anger. Seeing Mo Lan’s anxious expression, she couldn’t help but laugh. She reached out and pinched Mo Lan’s cheek, smiling as she said, “Although I was genuinely angry before, my return means I’m not angry anymore, doesn’t it?”

“Exactly. Sisters quarreling is nothing—after all, we’re family,” Old Master Mo, though displeased with his chess game, was delighted to see his granddaughters happy.

Elder Immortal watched Old Master Mo’s smug face and felt annoyed—wasn’t this a blatant mockery of his unmarried status? Someday, he’d find himself a wife and retire to the mountains. But, at his age, he likely couldn’t have children anymore. That was a regret he would have to live with.

“It’s time to eat. Come, let’s go to the dining room,” a servant called hurriedly.

Everyone smiled and casually made their way to the hall. Old Master Mo and Elder Immortal finished their game—Elder Immortal won, as usual.

Mo Fan and Old Master Mo were busy with business and wouldn’t be home for lunch today.

The dishes on the table were everyone’s favorites, though the repetition was beginning to wear on even the most enthusiastic appetites.

Old Master Mo continued to serve his granddaughters, this time with Elder Immortal and Old Master Mo sitting at the head of the table, Qian Yin and Mo Lan beside them. Whether it was excitement or mere whimsy, the two elders competed in piling food into their bowls until they were overflowing.

The four little ones were not particularly cheerful. Now that big sister had a boyfriend, did that mean she would eventually leave them? It was a thought they’d never considered—they themselves would one day marry and start families.

Leng Xue and An Feng had no objections; their priority was simply to eat well. After all, having someone love and cherish the woman they cared for was a good thing.
