Chapter 167: Going to Ximen City Again (8)

An Feng and Mo Lan searched for a long time, but could not find any sign of Qianyin. In the end, they had no choice but to get into the car and hurry back to the villa. Yet Qianyin was nowhere to be seen there either. Instead, they were met by the group’s strange, questioning looks.
Mo Lan had no choice but to tell them everything. There was no need to keep it from them any longer. At first, she had been afraid they would only cause trouble, but now everyone had to join the search. They needed to know what had happened before they could help.
“How could you two be so heartless?” Boss Jin was the first to speak up for Qianyin. In his eyes, she was simply a girl who made people ache for her. Why did she always insist on being so strong and cold? She had no one to protect her, so as her friend, he had to stand up for her.
“Exactly. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not trying to pick a fight with you, but you two really went too far this time.” Little Seven agreed. After all, Qianyin could be quite adorable at times. Having known her for so long, they all knew that she was kindhearted and always considerate of others.
“This isn’t the time to discuss that. I know I was wrong. Let’s find her first, all right?” Mo Lan was helpless. She had known they would blame her, but finding Qianyin was more important. She was willing to accept any punishment afterward.
“Go find her quickly. I hope you can locate her soon. The auction is about to begin.” After saying this, Boss Jin walked straight outside, followed by his two bodyguards.
The moment he stepped out the door, six men in black came swiftly toward them. Each held a dagger, and all six were dressed like bodyguards. They wore identical masks over their faces.
Why were the Boss’s men here? The four people who had followed them out stared wide-eyed.
Could the Boss’s men have destroyed Coldblood’s grave? Where had Qianyin gone? Had she been taken away again?
Boss Jin immediately turned back and retreated behind Mo Lan and the others. His two bodyguards moved to the front, shielding him. Boss Jin was not a coward, but his life was genuinely too important to lose at the hands of these people.
The six men in bodyguards’ clothing gave them no time to think. They charged forward with their daggers, aiming straight for their chosen targets. Their movements were far more agile than those of the people they had encountered before.
Mo Lan and An Feng dealt with them easily, knocking them unconscious within two or three moves. The situation was the same as before. The moment one of the men fell, even the slightest injury caused him to bite through the poison hidden in his mouth. He died instantly.
Mo Lan and An Feng frowned as they watched. How could they capture one of them alive and force him to reveal Qianyin’s whereabouts?

Little Seven and Liu Fei managed well enough, but the two bodyguards were struggling. Their opponents struck with nothing but killing blows. Although the bodyguards were able to evade them, the two attackers pressed forward relentlessly, determined to take their lives.
“Be careful!” Boss Jin watched anxiously from the side, shouting a warning. The two bodyguards were not his relatives, but they had followed him for so long that he had developed some affection for them.
Hearing his voice, Mo Lan and An Feng came to their senses. Without wasting another thought, they immediately rushed forward and dispatched the two attackers with ease.
But at that moment, one of the men stabbed Little Seven and fled. The other failed to escape. Liu Fei knocked him to the ground with a flying kick and then slammed a fist into his face. Blood spilled from the corner of the man’s mouth, and he died on the spot.
Little Seven sucked in a breath. The dagger seemed to have been poisoned. The wound burned with pain, and the blood slowly flowing from it gradually turned black. She clutched the injured hand tightly and pressed her lips together, trying to keep the poison from spreading to the rest of her body.
Mo Lan hurried over to examine her. When she saw the blackened skin and blood, her brows drew together in a deep frown. They had not brought a doctor with them, and finding one now would be troublesome. They were unfamiliar with the area and had no idea whether any local doctor could be trusted.
“I’ll take her back to the Immortal Elder. You continue searching for Qianyin, or go straight to the auction. I’ll call Qianyin.”
After thinking it over, Mo Lan made her decision.
“All right. Here are the car keys.” Liu Fei immediately handed them over. Concern for Little Seven was evident in his eyes. After working together for so long, they had naturally developed some degree of friendship.
Mo Lan took the keys and hurried inside. She found a skirt, cut it into a long strip with scissors, and tied it tightly above Little Seven’s wound to keep the blood from flowing through. Only after finishing did she look at the others with relief. She took out her phone, helped Little Seven into the car, and drove away at once.
The others glanced at the bodies on the ground. At first, the smell of blood was not particularly strong, but as time passed and the corpses remained gathered together, the stench grew increasingly heavy—so much so that it began to make them feel sick.
“Deal with this, then let’s go. It’s almost time.”
After Boss Jin spoke, everyone looked at the two bodyguards. The men understood immediately. They cleaned up the scene, wiped away the bloodstains, and arranged for the bodies to be disposed of in secret.

Liu Fei was secretly delighted. At least he would not have to handle the cleanup himself. Following them out had indeed been a very pleasant decision. Under ordinary circumstances, he would have been forced to deal with such matters personally.
Once everything had been taken care of, they drove directly to the auction venue. This was an underground auction, so it had been arranged in an underground warehouse.
When they arrived, many people were already there. Familiar and unfamiliar faces alike filled nearly half the venue, though it seemed that many others had yet to arrive.
After exchanging greetings with several acquaintances, Boss Jin chose his assigned place and sat down. No special names had been arranged for the seats. There were only crudely set tables and chairs, along with a numbered placard. Nothing more.
Once the lights had been installed, the underground warehouse was fairly clean and comfortable, but there was still something sinister about it, as though an evil presence lingered in the air.
The warehouse had only one door, but it was four meters wide and three meters high. There were just two very small windows, each measuring sixty by sixty centimeters. A passage ran along the side of the windows, but since the entire place was underground, it was hardly bright. The windows seemed to exist solely for ventilation.
An Feng felt that things were not as simple as they appeared. Holding the auction in a place like this suggested that the Boss and his people had ulterior motives.
He had already noticed many people wearing masks and suits. The moment they entered, those people’s eyes lingered on An Feng several times.
They looked like guards, yet also like men assigned to watch them. Their eyes gleamed with a strange black light.
The Boss’s remaining two generals were nowhere to be seen. An Feng was referring to the Flower Thief and Han. After scanning the area for some time, however, he noticed a man in a black suit. A scar ran across the man’s face, and he, too, had been watching them.
The man seemed to possess an imposing aura that set him apart from everyone else. His suit was also of a higher grade than those worn by the others. He was probably a newly appointed general.
As An Feng studied him, the man looked back. Their eyes met several times, as if they had already fought several silent battles through their gazes alone.
An Feng sensed that this man was no ordinary opponent. He simply did not know which one he was.
Could he be that man ranked third in the assassin world?
