Yun Chuxia lifted her phone, her tone light and casual:
"Just saw it scrolling through my phone."

In the kitchen, the snow fungus and pear soup was bubbling away, emitting a sweet aroma. She hurried in to check on it, while Si Yuchuan didn't ask any further questions and lowered his head back to his book.

It wasn't until Yun Chuxia brought out the freshly simmered soup that she belatedly realized:
Si Yuchuan was someone who apparently didn't eat late-night snacks.

For a moment, she was caught in a dilemma.
She had been so single-minded about making it for him just now, and he certainly must have felt too polite to refuse, but generally speaking, she really ought to respect his habits.

Seeing her pause at the kitchen threshold, Si Yuchuan put down his book and raised a brow slightly:
"Did you forget to slip in some poison?"

Yun Chuxia gave a soft scoff, walked over, placed the bowl in front of him, and asked with feigned annoyance:
"Why would I poison you?"

Si Yuchuan pulled her by her slender, fair wrist, and with a slight tug, settled her onto his lap:
"Perhaps my wife is hoping I could be as passionate as she is."

Heat rushed to Yun Chuxia's face, and just as she was about to retort, Si Yuchuan's phone rang.
He glanced at it and hung up.
When it rang a second time, Yun Chuxia caught sight of the caller ID: Peng Lei.
A poor corporate slave still working overtime late at night.

"Answer it. Your executive assistant must have something urgent."

Calling so late at night, and persisting even after being hung up on—it definitely wasn't for idle chatter.
Si Yuchuan's brows furrowed tightly, clearly displeased at the interruption.

Yun Chuxia swiped the screen open herself and held it right up to Si Yuchuan's ear.
It wasn't until she saw the slight curve of Si Yuchuan's lips that she realized how lacking in personal boundaries her gesture had been.
Yet, his other arm remained firmly clamped around her waist, preventing her from pulling away.

Thus, she was forced to listen to Peng Lei's voice right there in Si Yuchuan's arms.
"President Si, Young Master Si has been taken away by the traffic police."

Upon hearing the words "traffic police," Si Yuchuan lowered his gaze to look at the woman in his arms.
Yun Chuxia picked at her fingernails, offering an expression of innocent incomprehension:
I don't know, I have no idea, it has nothing to do with me.

Si Yuchuan replied in a chilling tone:
"If he has no respect for the law, he can bear the consequences. It's useless to call me."

Peng Lei's voice came through again, carrying a hint of hesitation:
"However... he was taken away right outside the gates of Yunlu."

Si Yuchuan's voice remained cold: "Reason?"
"Reportedly for drunk driving," Peng Lei's voice sounded somewhat helpless as well. "Do you need me to go bail him out?"

Si Yuchuan lowered his gaze back to Yun Chuxia, knowing she had heard every word of their exchange, and asked directly:
"What do you think?"

Yun Chuxia shrugged indifferently. As long as Si Haochen stopped dangling in front of her eyes, wherever he went was none of her concern.

Si Yuchuan stared at her fixedly for a moment. Having confirmed her thoughts, he instructed Peng Lei:
"Hold on, we'll go together."

Yun Chuxia raised her eyes in confusion: "We?"
Si Yuchuan nodded: "Don't you want to watch him make a fool of himself?"

Yun Chuxia was momentarily stunned: Isn't he a member of the Si family? Is this really okay?

Si Yuchuan wore an expression that clearly said *so what*, picked up the spoon, and began drinking the soup directly, acting as though there was nothing remotely amiss about handling it this way.

His movements were elegant and refined, his posture while eating exceptionally graceful, revealing the habits of someone raised in luxury since childhood.

"Is my wife good at cooking?"
Yun Chuxia nodded: "I practiced it growing up in the Yun family."

The Yun family employed domestic help, but Yun Qingqing always threw tantrums demanding that Yun Chuxia cook for her personally. Yun Chuxia had started bustling about the kitchen back when she still needed to stand on a little wooden stool just to reach the stovetop.

Si Yuchuan made no comment, and Yun Chuxia didn't elaborate further, figuring he had likely heard rumors about her life in the Yun family anyway.

With a sudden warmth on her hand, Si Yuchuan had already pulled her to her feet:
"Is my wife going to change her clothes herself, or should I help you?"
