Chapter 37: Don't Be So Obedient, You'll Get Bullied
Even if Yun Chuxia were slow-witted, she could no longer deny that he had deliberately covered her eyes. Perhaps it was because her eyes looked the least like those of the person in his heart.
She stepped out of the car, following half a step behind Si Yuchuan, walking at a steady, unhurried pace.
Do not mistake desire for love.
She told herself: Do not lose your head.
Yun Chuxia took a bath and threw herself into the soft covers. It had been such a long day; she needed a good rest. Tomorrow, the formal recording for her new program would begin.
The mattress dipped as Si Yuchuan pulled back the quilt and moved in beside her. Still feeling embarrassed by the events of the evening, Yun Chuxia turned her back to him.
Her waist was suddenly gripped and pulled backward. Her spine pressed against a scorching chest, and she could feel his steady heartbeat against her back.
"Don't move. Just let me hold you for a while."
The familiar scent of neroli helped his long-tensed nerves finally relax. He rested his chin, slightly stubbled, upon her smooth, pale shoulder. Yun Chuxia shifted uncomfortably.
Si Yuchuan’s voice was hoarse and strained: "Don't fidget, unless you don't want to sleep."
Yun Chuxia froze, closing her eyes tight and playing dead.
Si Yuchuan gently stroked her hair. "I’m going abroad tomorrow."
Yun Chuxia pressed her lips together, offering no response. Si Yuchuan didn't make any further moves, only instructing her: "Peng Lei and Uncle Liu will be in the country this week. If you run into any trouble, don't try to handle it alone. You can go to them, understand?"
Yun Chuxia’s heart softened unexpectedly. After all, she had initially sought his protection. In that regard, Si Yuchuan had kept his word. They were merely in a contractual relationship based on mutual need; as for anything else, she had no right to demand more. She simply needed to perform her role diligently. Besides, being a substitute was something she had experience with.
She turned around to face him and gave a soft, affirmative nod.
Without makeup, her features looked less aggressive, making her appear even younger—soft and docile. Si Yuchuan felt his resolve crumbling, a battle raging within him. He was the one who had been struck by her beauty, yet he was also the one holding himself back at the edge of the cliff.
Uncle Qiao’s car accident had reminded him once again of the Qiao family’s daughter. Facing the clear, pure gaze of Yun Chuxia, he sometimes felt like a beast. His body’s reactions were undeniable; he truly felt a physiological attraction toward her. He wanted to hold her, to touch her, to... tease her.
He could tell she was reluctant, and he refused to force her in such matters. Things were only interesting when both parties were willing.
Si Yuchuan let out a long sigh and tightened his grip. "Don't be so obedient; you’ll get bullied."
Yun Chuxia didn't dare move. The quilt was thin, and she clearly felt that something had changed. Si Yuchuan kissed her forehead. "Go to sleep."
...
When Yun Chuxia woke up, Si Yuchuan was already gone. She had expected this, given how busy he was. By the time she had finished getting ready, Uncle Liu was already waiting at the villa entrance.
Thinking back to the private room yesterday, where Si Yuchuan had made their relationship clear, Yun Chuxia no longer hesitated and climbed into the modest, unassuming Q8.
The early winter morning sun provided little warmth. Yun Chuxia thought back to the massive source of heat beside her last night. His tall, strong body felt like a little sun, with every well-defined muscle radiating warmth. She had always suffered from cold hands and feet during the winter, and in her sleep, she had instinctively pressed against the warmth—especially since her feet seemed to have wandered somewhere they shouldn't have...
Yun Chuxia covered her burning face.
Oh god, how humiliating. Si Yuchuan was right; she looked truly desperate. Like a glutton for pleasure.
She patted her chest and took a deep breath, trying to calm her heart. At least he would be away for the next few days, giving her time to collect herself.
Uncle Liu turned his head. "Miss Yun, there’s a car blocking the road ahead. It looks like it belongs to Young Master Si."
