Chapter One: Provoking Her Uncle
Night was cool, and her heart was in turmoil.
At the penthouse presidential suite of a hotel in Yancheng, Yun Chuxia sat with her long, pale legs bent and hooked around the other man's waist. Their soft lips were almost touching, and their warm, damp breaths tangled together, thick with an air of intimacy.
She had meant to focus on the man before her.
Yet those gaudy lines of text would not leave her alone.
Was the supporting female lead going to die?
She was just a stand-in. If she died, so be it. The female lead was coming back anyway.
The real problem was that the supporting female lead's ending was far too miserable: AIDS, a body covered in rotting sores, and only after eight days of death was she discovered, with maggots crawling everywhere.
Please, no spoilers!
Three days ago, Yun Chuxia had learned from the suddenly appearing barrage of comments that she was inside an AI-generated drama based on a novel about a heartbreaking chase-the-wife story.
She was the supporting female lead in that tragic tale, with every possible misfortune stacked upon her: a false heiress, a stand-in, an evil persona, and a wretched end.
And the male lead was her fiance, Si Haichen, heir to the top wealthy Si family in Yancheng, who had spent the past three years acting as if he would tear out his heart for her.
In his heart he hid a white moonlight he could never possess, a woman named Su Muxue, who was undergoing treatment overseas and would return on the day of their engagement banquet.
Once the true beloved came back, how could the male lead still remember the counterfeit supporting character at his side? He would chase after the female lead all day long, and when the supporting female lead realized she had been a stand-in for years, her psyche would twist, and she would scheme in every possible way against the male and female leads.
At first, the two of them would only grow closer through each trap and trial, until in the end the supporting female lead's crimes were exposed in public and her reputation was ruined.
The Yun family also found her embarrassing. They told her she was nothing more than an adopted daughter, useless after the marriage alliance failed, and ordered her to get lost on her own.
Unable to accept the truth, the supporting female lead would begin drinking herself into ruin, falling at a terrifying pace. She would be targeted by thugs, and one night she would come home late and be violated by several men, contracting AIDS in the process.
In the end, she would die alone and destitute in a filthy, cramped rental room.
Meanwhile, the male and female leads would remain spotless, living happily ever after.
Yun Chuxia suppressed the cold curl at the corner of her mouth.
After more than twenty years of living, her lover had been fake, her family had been fake, and her ending would be a miserable death.
How absurd.
Noticing her distraction, the man's broad hand came to rest on her lower back. He rubbed lightly, neither hard nor soft, and reminded her in a low voice, "Focus."
Yun Chuxia half-lowered her wet eyes, gritted her teeth, and bowed her head to bite the tie beneath his throat, trying to yank it loose.
Si Yuanchuan watched her biting and clawing with great interest, amusement tinting his tone.
"Three years with my nephew, and that's all you learned?"
The teasing in his voice made Yun Chuxia's body grow gradually cold.
Her courage ebbed away like a tide retreating at high speed, leaving only a vast and frozen silence behind.
Si Yuanchuan was the male lead's uncle. The barrage had said he was the mysterious big shot from the original novel, and also the one who dealt with the supporting female lead's corpse.
Yun Chuxia had never expected that, in the end, it would be this uncle with no prior connection to her who extended a hand of aid. So she had gone to great lengths to seduce him.
She was gambling that he might help her change her fate.
Unfortunately, he was indeed interested in her, but not enough.
She rolled off the bed, picked up the high heels she had kicked aside, and was about to leave when her wrist suddenly tightened. In the next instant, she was pulled into a scorching embrace, and a cool, deep voice fell from above.
"Using me and then running?"
Yun Chuxia looked up at him. Barefoot, she only reached his chest; she had to step back and tilt her head to meet his gaze.
Several of the buttons on the man's shirt had been torn open, the fabric hanging loosely against his chest. His slightly disheveled hair made his features look even more refined, and in his narrow, cold eyes reflected her tiny face.
He bent down, biting at her earlobe, and his hot breath and low, magnetic voice arrived together.
"Little girl, so you're using me?"
