Volume 1 Chapter 29: Premeditation
The fire that killed his family and caused his mother to vanish all those years ago—it was a calculated conspiracy!
"Who on earth would dare to target the Lin family!"
Lin Yu clenched his fists so tightly that the surrounding air trembled violently! The winds and clouds shifted in an instant! The sun and moon lost their luster!
Zhou Lei stood beside him, nearly paralyzed with terror, yet he remained silent, gritting his teeth to endure the pressure.
Ten seconds later, Lin Yu calmed himself, his rage slowly subsiding. The dark clouds in the sky dissipated along with it. Feeling the crushing weight on his shoulders suddenly lift, Zhou Lei let out a long breath.
Lin Yu offered a faint smile. "Old Zhou, do you find me frightening?"
Zhou Lei shook his head hurriedly. "What the Young Master projects is the majesty of a spirit that could swallow mountains and rivers, not the reckless fury of a heartless, bloodthirsty man."
However, this had little effect on Ye Han. Possessing the Peerless Heavenly Sword, he remained impervious to any such pressure. The office was opulent, yet through this veneer of luxury, Xia Ling sensed an underlying stench of decay and cruelty.
"It’s fine. No one could have foreseen this; I just happened to have better luck than others, and it fell right on me," Xia Ling chuckled, mocking himself.
Though Fengfeng felt the timing was inappropriate, she dared not defy him. Seeing the Young Master already walking ahead, she paused for a moment before scurrying after him.
"Don't flatter yourself. I didn't save you out of kindness. My hand was forced, and the arrow was already on the string. Otherwise, I wouldn't have cared whether you lived or died," Feng Minzhi said coldly. It was evident that every step he took was an immense struggle as he fought to keep himself from looking at the "corpses" that threatened to break him.
Tiantian stood in the pavilion, eyes streaming with tears. Emotions suppressed for countless years finally found their release in that moment.
"Yes, Young Master, everyone is prepared," the dark figure that had emerged hurriedly bowed again, cupping his hands toward the young man with deep respect.
"The Sacred Sect!?" Su Yu’s pupils contracted sharply at the mention of the name, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Su Qinyu thought to himself that a little extra effort wouldn't hurt, but he hadn't anticipated the true extent of Qi Man’s strength. While Qi Man could lift a hundred pounds without breaking a sweat, his idea of "a little effort" was enough to shatter the giant stone lion at the gate with a single punch.
Seeing Qi Man’s mood improve, Su Qinyu said softly, "Brother Meng, that’s not all. Look at that one!" Following his gesture, Qi Man noticed a reward notice posted right next to the wanted poster.
Clearly, Xiang Gui had tuned them out. With a flick of his hand, he broke free from Heng Fu’s restraint and retreated three steps. His eyes never left Tai Yi, glaring with fierce, silent hostility. He remained chillingly calm; it seemed there was little hope of reasoning with him.
Luo Wanyin rubbed her temples. This situation was indeed unexpected; she had assumed the brat would have some understanding of her strength and her abilities, and therefore wouldn't be so worried.
The moment Dai Dai finished speaking, Gu Zhi kept his word and released her lips. Yet, before she could catch her breath, he began to explore her body with even greater passion than before.
Old Sha’s hideout remained well-concealed. Although the map provided relatively clear markers, we still could not pinpoint the exact location, knowing only that the area marked was a valley called Agula.
Fang’er gave a faint smile, one filled with both relief and joy. At the very least, besides herself, there was someone like Cao Yin by the Emperor’s side.
Andrew let out a few bursts of wild laughter before signaling one of his bodyguards to go and find Bowers.
"Wife, why are you so adorable? You go in circles whenever you talk..." Shao Yan reached out to ruffle Lu Yu’s hair again.
"But rest assured, once Shen You wakes up, her mind will be clear. After all these years, I believe she will gradually come to terms with it and will no longer be consumed by madness."
With no further hesitation, Xuan Tian stripped off his clothes and leaped into the pool.
Besides, in officialdom, rank dictates everything. The other man was a Major General, five or six ranks higher than his own Lieutenant position. He couldn't fathom why the man was being so courteous to him. One had to know that Cao Degui, also one of the Five Tiger Generals, was notoriously arrogant and had infuriated many during the Hebei campaign.
He had black hair and black eyes, yet lacked the forehead markings that represented power and glory, nor did he possess the beautiful triple pupils. He carried an aura of strange, unsettling dissonance.
Lu Yonghao stared at his brother, who had died with his eyes wide open, his teeth gritted tightly as murderous intent roiled within him. No matter the cost, he was determined to have that Heart-Refining Master brew the spirit liquid for him.
Upon seeing this person, Shangguan Yu’s body trembled. Her grandfather usually lived in seclusion; why was he here inspecting the Buddha hall now? She held a deep fear of her grandfather, who always felt as cold as a lifeless corpse.
Zhang Laizi was in such agony he wished he could be reincarnated on the spot. Captain Hu and the guard felt like weeping for him, but they realized Hua Yun was setting the bone and refrained from interfering.
"Isn't this good? Don't you like it?" Lin Qingxia didn't answer him, instead laughing coquettishly.
His soul power could clearly perceive the energy of the gold rock melting into the water. Controlling his internal energy, he gathered the gold rock’s power, tempering it over and over again with a unique technique.
Now that the Thunder Demon had experienced Shen Feng’s Laws of Light firsthand, he was surely on guard and unlikely to be caught by such an attack again.
Before these men could react, they each took a punch to the gut and collapsed to the ground, groaning in agony.
Receiving their orders, the two men gathered dry branches after a brief resupply, stuffing them into the village to ensure the fire would burn as fiercely as possible once ignited.
