Chapter 5: To Survive

Lin Feng was not in the mood for anything else right now; he just wanted to scare Cheng Xiangyu. He wanted her to understand that this was a deserted island, where the strong preyed on the weak, and she was no longer the pampered little princess of a wealthy family. Here, they were equals.

If she wanted to follow him, she had to obey him, help him with the work, and not be a burden.

So he simply held her in his arms, stopped any further advances, and said, "Here, no matter what I want to do to you, you won’t be able to resist."

"But as long as you obey, I won’t force you."

"But if you want to eat it, you have to do it yourself."

After saying this, he grabbed a stick nearby and handed it to her so she could dig up the fish mint more easily.

Then he dug up some fish mint himself, wiped off the dirt, and ate it with relish.

Hungry and thirsty, Cheng Xiangyu’s stomach growled loudly.

She swore she had to survive.

Then she kept digging and eating the fish mint, and gradually, like Lin Feng, she got used to its taste.

After they had eaten enough, Lin Feng said, "Alright, I’ll make a mark here. We’ll come back to dig the rest of the fish mint later. Now, let’s keep looking for shelter. We have to find it before dark, or tonight will be miserable."

"Okay!" Cheng Xiangyu nodded.

Lin Feng then tied some vines around a nearby tree to make a mark and led her forward.

After a while, Lin Feng stopped before a banyan tree, looked up at the sky, and said, "The sun is about to set. We can’t keep searching. We might not even find a cave, so let’s take this place as our shelter."

"The branches of this big banyan tree form a natural cave. The space inside is not small—about five or six square meters."

"We just need to weave some vines through the branches and plaster some mud on it to keep out the wind and rain."

"Time is short. Let’s hurry and get everything done before dark."

Cheng Xiangyu said, "You work on it here. I want to go look around and see if there are any other survivors."
