Chapter 41: Burning with Rage, Consumed by the Urge to Kill
Lin Feng possessed immense strength. With a single kick, he sent Wang Xingyu flying two or three meters through the air, crashing heavily onto the ground and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Yet, as he thought about Wang Xingyu’s actions—especially this latest attempt to steal every bit of the leopard jerky he had worked so hard to hunt and prepare—he felt no sense of relief.
Boom!
Lin Feng charged forward and kicked Wang Xingyu into the air again. Finding it too troublesome to keep kicking him, he straddled his body and began raining down punches, treating him entirely like a human punching bag.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
As he pummeled Wang Xingyu, Lin Feng roared in fury.
"Damn you, you giant baby, you social parasite who only knows how to run your mouth!"
"Take that for using a woman as a human shield, you piece of trash!"
"Take that for returning kindness with hatred, you’re lower than a dog!"
"Take that for acting like a tyrant, throwing your weight around just because you’re the City Lord’s son!"
"Take that for your lies, framing me for peeking at a woman changing!"
"Take that for being lazy and gluttonous..."
Before long, Wang Xingyu, who had only just recovered, was beaten into unconsciousness. He Tian-Tian, Qin Meng, and Cheng Xiangyu were all frozen in shock by Lin Feng’s actions.
It was only then that they regained their senses.
"Lin Feng, you lunatic! How dare you hit Young Master Wang and beat him into such a state? Stop this at once, or you will die a miserable death!" He Tian-Tian shrieked.
Lin Feng ignored her, continuing to rain punches on Wang Xingyu while still cursing.
"Stop!"
He Tian-Tian rushed forward and grabbed Lin Feng, trying to stop him from continuing the assault.
"Get lost!"
Lin Feng did not hold back just because she was a woman; he executed a shoulder throw, sending her crashing to the ground, disoriented. He was even more incensed knowing that this woman, solely because Wang Xingyu was the City Lord’s son and he was just a poor boy, had twisted the truth, blaming everything on him while claiming Wang Xingyu was never in the wrong. Filled with rage, he kicked her, sending her rolling several meters away.
Only then did he turn back, ready to continue using Wang Xingyu as his punching bag.
"Lunatic! You lunatic! If you have the guts, hit me too!"
Qin Meng, seeing this, rushed forward to shield Wang Xingyu. Lin Feng did not hesitate and swung his hand.
Slap!
The sound was sharp. He had used his full strength, sending Cheng Xiangyu—who had stepped in—crashing to the side. A red, swollen palm print immediately appeared on her face.
Lin Feng thought of how he had loved her and treated her so well, only for her to treat him like a pathetic sycophant. She had never truly cared for him, yet she showed such deep concern for a man she had just met. Not only did she want to help that man steal the food he had labored for, but she was now shielding him. The thought made him even angrier and more pained; a single slap didn't even begin to satisfy his rage.
Boom!
With another kick, he sent Qin Meng flying just like he had He Tian-Tian.
"You... you hit me again, and so hard?" Qin Meng lay on the ground, staring at Lin Feng in shock and terror.
"With what you’ve done, you deserve to be beaten to death!" Lin Feng roared.
Qin Meng whimpered and burst into tears. "You... you jerk, what did I do to make you hate me so much and beat me like this? I stopped you from hurting Young Master Wang and told you to suck up to him for your own good, for our future! By offending him, you are clearly courting death! You foolish man, why don't you understand?"
Lin Feng couldn't be bothered with her. He turned, straddled Wang Xingyu again, and prepared to resume his practice.
"Stop it, you maniac! Stop! Young Master Wang is about to be beaten to death! Isn't that enough for you?" He Tian-Tian and Qin Meng cried out.
"He is the son of the City Lord! If you kill him, not only will you die, but your entire family will be buried with him. Don't you care about yourself, or at least your family?"
Cheng Xiangyu, who had also begun to plead, added, "That’s right, Lin Feng. While I agree that Wang Xingyu stealing our hard-earned jerky is despicable and deserves death, he is different from Yuan Shuang. He is the City Lord’s son. If he dies, his cause of death will be investigated repeatedly. Even if we wanted to hide it for you, we couldn't. In the end, you and your family will likely pay with your lives. Is it worth sacrificing your whole family for a piece of scum like him?"
She was genuinely concerned for him, not wanting him to kill Wang Xingyu in a moment of impulse and regret it for the rest of his life.
Lin Feng finally stopped.
The three women assumed he had truly relented. Cheng Xiangyu smiled inwardly, thinking that despite their past misunderstandings, he still listened to her advice. Qin Meng, though she only viewed Lin Feng as a sycophant, felt a pang of bitterness that he listened to Cheng Xiangyu instead of her. He Tian-Tian sighed with relief, thinking that as long as Wang Xingyu didn't die, her dream of marrying into the City Lord's residence remained intact.
However, none of the three beauties noticed the icy coldness in Lin Feng's eyes. His fists were clenched, his heart filled with resentment.
It would have been better if they hadn't mentioned his family. By bringing them up, they only fueled his desire to kill—and even to destroy the entire world.
His ancestors had been medicine boys for Li Shizhen, learning almost all of his medical arts. But because Li Shizhen was so famous, no one had noticed the profound and miraculous skills of his attendants. No one expected that while their family had passed down these traditional medical arts for hundreds of years, they would eventually be rejected by the modern medical establishment. They were told they needed certification to practice, even though they were capable of curing cancer.
When his father and grandfather tried to obtain these licenses, they were met with endless obstruction and failure. Eventually, they learned they had been framed by a prominent figure in the medical world—a man who was outwardly virtuous but inwardly corrupt. The goal was to force them to hand over their ancestral prescriptions and work at designated hospitals to charge exorbitant fees.
His grandfather and father, being true healers, refused to collaborate with such scum. As a result, his entire family was thrown into prison, where they were tortured to death for refusing to surrender their secrets.
Lin Feng was now an orphan—an orphan created by the persecution of the powerful. He loathed the elite, and he had promised his father and grandfather that he would never bow to them. He didn't care that Wang Xingyu was the City Lord's son; in fact, he despised him for using that status to act as if he were superior and free to bully the common people.
So, when the three women brought up his family and threatened him with Wang Xingyu’s status, his rage only burned brighter.
