Fortunately, Lin Feng had found plenty of small stones. After taking several hits, the wild boar finally noticed him. It stopped ramming the coconut tree and turned its head toward him.

Lin Feng quickly withdrew and hid himself.

“Grunt, grunt…”

The wild boar grunted several times, then resumed ramming the coconut tree.

Lin Feng was just about to throw more stones at it when Qin Meng suddenly called down from above, “Lin Feng, I’m safe for the moment. The only way to lure it away is to go and disturb its nest.”

“The nest is in the jungle, five hundred meters to the southeast.”

“But be careful. There’s a sow there that gave birth not long ago. If she goes berserk, she may be even more frightening.”

After hearing this, Lin Feng stood up and confirmed the direction of the nest with Qin Meng.

Once he had the bearings, he hurried toward it.

Sure enough, he soon found extensive signs that the undergrowth had been trampled or gnawed on by wild boars. At the far end of the trail stood a boar’s nest.

Lin Feng approached slowly and peered inside. He could see a huge sow lying there. Several piglets were sprawled across her belly, nursing.

Lin Feng picked up several small stones and hurled them one after another. Three struck the sow with remarkable accuracy.

The first stone made her open her eyes warily. The second caused her to sit up and swiftly shield the piglets. The third made her let out a piercing squeal.

“Grunt, grunt…”

Lin Feng knew that the boar would rush back the moment it heard the sow’s cry. He hurried away and immediately found a place to hide.

As expected, the boar returned before long. It ran into the nest and repeatedly nudged the sow and the piglets with its snout, evidently checking whether anything had happened to them.

Seeing this, Lin Feng could not help praying that once the boar saw they were unharmed, it would let the matter go.

Unfortunately, things did not go as he hoped. The boar began searching the surrounding area, occasionally emitting sharp cries.

When it seemed to notice him and started approaching, Lin Feng covered his mouth, not daring to make the slightest sound.

Fortunately, the boar walked straight past him.

It then circled the area twice more. After confirming that there was no danger, it returned to the nest and lay down beside the sow.

Apparently, its earlier frenzy of ramming the coconut tree had tired it out as well.

Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief. However, he waited a while longer, and only after confirming that neither the boar nor the sow would get up did he emerge and return to the coconut tree.

Qin Meng was still perched in the tree and had not climbed down, presumably afraid that the wild boar might return.

When she saw Lin Feng come back, she let out a long breath. “Lin Feng, you’re all right. That’s wonderful.”

Lin Feng smiled. “I’m especially glad to see that you’re safe too. You can come down now. The wild boars won’t attack us for the time being. Let’s gather these coconuts and leave quickly.”

“All right!”

Qin Meng slowly slid down from the coconut tree.

Afraid that she might fall, Lin Feng had already positioned himself below, ready to catch her.

Unfortunately, Qin Meng was quite agile and did not give him the chance to hold her.

After climbing down, she followed Lin Feng in gathering coconuts and asked, “Lin Feng, it looks like you came from over there. Did you see He Tiantian?”

“She survived too. We got separated after running into a bad man, and I don’t know how she’s doing now or whether she managed to escape from him.”

Lin Feng sighed inwardly. Qin Meng was indeed still deeply worried about He Tiantian.

For that reason, he did not regret saving He Tiantian and Wang Xingyu from the pool earlier.

At the time, he could have saved only He Tiantian, but once she was rescued, she would certainly have insisted on saving Wang Xingyu as well. In the end, it would have made no difference.

He simply had not expected Wang Xingyu to be so hateful and ungrateful—to turn on him the moment he was rescued.

After thinking this over, Lin Feng said, “I only learned that you were still alive after running into He Tiantian, so I came here specifically to find you.”

Qin Meng smiled when she heard this. “Ha-ha, I see. I’m so glad she’s all right.”

Then she asked, “By the way, what happened to that bad man? Did you run into him? Since you came looking for me, is He Tiantian safe? What if she encounters him…”

“Don’t worry,” Lin Feng said. “I’ve already killed him.”

“What?”

Qin Meng cried out in shock.

She clearly had not expected Lin Feng to dare kill someone, much less to have killed Yuan Shuang.

Lin Feng explained, “He was trying to kill us. In order to survive, we had no choice.”

Qin Meng nodded. “I understand. A villain like that would only hurt more good people if he were allowed to live.”

Then she asked, “By the way, Lin Feng, apart from He Tiantian, have you met any other survivors?”

Lin Feng replied, “Yes. One is Wang Xingyu, and the other is Cheng Xiangyu. They’re with He Tiantian now, living in the shelter I built. What about you?”

Qin Meng shook her head. “No one.”

“Then where did you spend the night yesterday?”

He asked because he wanted to see whether she had found a better shelter.

Qin Meng waved her hand. “I was afraid of danger, so I slept in this coconut tree last night.”

As she spoke, she pointed toward the top of the tree.

Lin Feng looked carefully and noticed for the first time that the coconut tree was rather crooked. Near the top was an especially curved section, perfectly suited for Qin Meng to lie on.

Still, it must have been terribly uncomfortable up there whenever the wind blew or rain fell.

For now, the shelter he had built was clearly the better option.

Qin Meng asked with a smile, “Where is the shelter you built, Lin Feng? Let’s carry these coconuts there quickly. I can’t wait to see He Tiantian again.”

Lin Feng sighed inwardly once more. Qin Meng truly regarded He Tiantian as a close friend and confidante.

He nodded, then went to the edge of the woods and gathered some vines. He tied all the coconuts into two bundles, taking the larger one himself and giving the smaller one to Qin Meng. Together, they returned to the shelter.

Lin Feng was somewhat disappointed to find that although Wang Xingyu had been poisoned, he had not died from it. His face was merely bluish, and he seemed somewhat listless.

What left Lin Feng speechless was that the moment Wang Xingyu saw them return, his eyes fixed hungrily on Qin Meng.

Clearly, he had been captivated by her beautiful face, perfect figure, and enchanting legs.

Then he said, “Lin Feng, are you even a man? How can you let such a beautiful woman carry so much? You really have no idea how to treat a beauty.”

Lin Feng immediately felt irritated. He snorted, “If you’re so capable, why don’t you come help carry some?”

Wang Xingyu replied, “I ate poisonous mushrooms and got poisoned. My limbs are weak.”

Seeing this, Cheng Xiangyu hurriedly said, “Wang Xingyu, if you still want Lin Feng to cure you, stop angering him.”

He Tiantian looked at Lin Feng. “Young Master Wang is in bad shape. He was unconscious just moments ago and has been awake for less than half an hour. Hurry and detoxify him.”

Lin Feng snorted coldly. “Cure him? Absolutely not! Don’t forget, I had only just rescued him when he tried to kill me. He repaid my kindness with treachery.”
