“What is going on, Boss?”
The commotion in the dining hall finally drew the three busy workers from the kitchen.
Seeing Shen Xuan surrounded by accusations, Master Chen asked in bewilderment, utterly confused.
Shen Xuan’s expression remained as calm as ever. He briefly explained what had just happened to Master Chen.
“That is absolutely impossible!”
Master Chen’s face turned deathly pale. He spoke through clenched teeth, his voice filled with fury.
He had prepared the food himself. How could he not know whether there was anything wrong with it?
“That’s right, Boss! How could my master have poisoned the food?”
Tang Wu’s face flushed crimson as he spoke vehemently.
If this accusation became established and spread, what restaurant would dare hire them in the future? This was no longer merely an attempt to slander their reputations—it was an effort to drive master and disciple to their deaths.
“Heh. Old fool, you know fear now, do you? And you, you black lump—just look at you! You actually dared look down on me?”
Standing behind Master Chen, Han Yu watched the chaos unfolding in the hall and sneered inwardly.
“Master Chen, neither of you needs to panic. I will soon clear your names.”
Shen Xuan silently calculated the time, then spoke with a serious expression.
As the diners’ emotions grew more agitated, faint smiles appeared at the corners of Qin Yong’s and Han Yu’s mouths.
But at that very moment, the man who had been lying unconscious on the floor suddenly sat upright under everyone’s incredulous gaze.
“Good heavens! He’s come back from the dead!”
A diner standing nearby went pale with fright, collapsed onto the floor, and cried out sharply.
“Ah!”
Looking at this bizarre scene, the crowd truly lost control.
Most of them had believed Qin Yong’s story and assumed the man was already dead. How could they not be terrified when he suddenly sat up?
Of course, the most bewildered people there were Qin Yong and Han Yu. Staring at the dazed man before them, they could not help muttering inwardly.
“How is he still alive? Did we buy counterfeit medicine? Or did we use too little?”
Hiding behind Master Chen, Han Yu could barely control his expression. His eyes nearly bulged from their sockets, and before he realized it, he muttered under his breath.
“Little Yu, what did you just say? What do you mean, ‘how is he still alive’?”
Tang Wu’s ears twitched. He turned toward Han Yu in confusion and asked.
“Ah! Nothing. I was just a little surprised.”
Han Yu froze for a moment. Realizing that he had exposed himself, he hurriedly shook his head and brushed the question aside.
“I see.”
Tang Wu nodded and did not suspect anything. After all, he himself had yet to recover from the shocking sight before him.
Qin Yong stared at the man with an ashen expression, furious in his heart. He assumed that Han Yu had botched the job.
“What a useless fool! He couldn’t even handle something this simple. No—no matter what, this blame must be pinned on Jun Youlai.”
As the thought crossed his mind, Qin Yong grew tense. He hurried over to the man’s side, waved a hand before his eyes, and asked anxiously,
“Brother, how are you feeling now? Do you feel any discomfort anywhere?”
Zhuang Tian was still rather dazed. He turned to look at the people surrounding him and listened to the murmurs around him, his mind a complete muddle. He had no idea what was happening.
Just as he was about to say something, an extremely lecherous-looking man came running over. With a nauseating expression, he inexplicably began expressing concern for him.
Zhuang Tian became even more confused. In his disordered state of mind, he failed to answer immediately.
“Brother, why aren’t you saying anything? Could the poison have left you mute? Jun Youlai is truly vicious!”
When Qin Yong saw that the man had remained silent for so long, he assumed the poison had rendered him an idiot. He secretly breathed a sigh of relief, though his expression remained unchanged as he spoke angrily.
Just as Qin Yong’s performance became more and more convincing, and nearly everyone around him had begun to believe him, Zhuang Tian finally came to his senses.
His expression darkened. Without the slightest hesitation, he slapped Qin Yong across his lecherous face.
“Smack!”
That slap left Qin Yong stunned. For a long while, he could not recover.
The others present were equally dumbfounded.
What was going on? Had the man gone mad? What had he eaten to produce such a powerful effect?
“You’re the one who’s been poisoned mute! Your whole family has been poisoned mute!”
Under the crowd’s stunned gazes, Zhuang Tian launched into a furious tirade against Qin Yong.
“You…”
Qin Yong finally came to his senses. Feeling the burning pain in his cheek, he widened his eyes and pointed at Zhuang Tian, about to say something.
But in the next instant—
“Smack!”
Zhuang Tian slapped him again.

“What do you mean, ‘you’? I was already holding in a bellyful of anger today and came out hoping to enjoy a decent meal, yet you, you mangy cur, actually dared curse me! What? I haven’t shown my fangs lately, so now any one of you thinks you can come over and bully me?”
Zhuang Tian’s eyes flashed sharply as he glared at Qin Yong, his voice brimming with fury.
This time, Qin Yong was completely dumbstruck. He stared blankly at the increasingly violent Zhuang Tian and did not dare say another word.
“What in the world is going on?”
One of the onlookers clutched his head, looking utterly confused as he watched Zhuang Tian bouncing around energetically in the middle of the hall.
“Exactly! This doesn’t look like poisoning at all!”
His companion was just as baffled, scratching his head in puzzlement.
What should they do? It seemed their brains were about to start growing.
“Boss Shen, what exactly is going on?”
Someone finally came to his senses and called loudly toward Shen Xuan, who stood some distance away with a calm expression.
“That’s right, Boss Shen. You have to explain this to us. A perfectly healthy man suddenly passed out—how are we supposed to feel safe eating here in the future?”
Another young man dressed in scholar’s robes stepped forward. After saluting Shen Xuan, he voiced all his doubts.
Shen Xuan looked at the gazes turned toward him, and a faint smile rose at the corners of his mouth. He spoke gently.
“Everyone, please remain calm. Before I answer that question, I would first like to ask this guest a few things.”
With that, Shen Xuan shifted his gaze to Zhuang Tian.
“Me?”
After venting his anger, Zhuang Tian felt remarkably refreshed. Upon hearing Shen Xuan’s words, he paused and asked in confusion.
“May I ask whether you feel anything different in your body at present?”
Shen Xuan’s voice remained calm.
“Anything different?”
Zhuang Tian’s expression became solemn. He immediately focused and carefully examined how he felt.
It did not take long for him to notice the change.
Not only had the fatigue that had plagued him for several days vanished without a trace, but his entire body also felt warm and indescribably comfortable.
