Volume One, Chapter 35: The Villainous Siblings in Dragon Aotian's Story, Part 15
The Ye residence.
Long Aotian was bound to a pillar, cold iron chains tightly restraining his limbs. The metal had chafed his skin raw, leaving his wrists covered in angry red welts.
This was simply because Mou Cheng’s information was outdated. It took at least half a month to travel from the Western Regions to Ping'an County, and the ruler of the Western Regions had only decided to lead the expedition in person two days ago. Thus, the news was nothing more than a fabrication by the merchant caravan mentioned by the bank manager.
He stumbled backward involuntarily, bumping into the official officer trailing behind him. Steadying himself, he gestured toward Ma Han.
Before he could finish his sentence, Gu Lin, weakened by severe injuries, retreated automatically into the Earth-Element Stone. The purple mist hovering in the air dissipated rapidly. Tang Yao curled into a ball; he had been too focused on attacking Gu Lin to notice his own condition, but now that the adrenaline had faded, the pain was nearly unbearable.
Joseph remained silent, his gaze fixed on the distant tides. At that moment, a broadcast echoed across the entire island.
Jiang Ziguan considered himself a man with skewed values, but he never expected Yun Kai to have no values at all—her integrity and morals were shattered beyond repair.
Little did she know, in front of shrewd individuals like Tang Mo and Ling Yinglie, such petty schemes could hide nothing from them.
To think that the opposing faction was willing to expend high-grade spatial essence stones just to find him—it showed just how much they valued Gu Fei.
Was the implication behind these words that the kindness shown by Old Madam Huo and the others had nothing to do with genuine affection, but was merely a matter of guilt and compensation?
“Are you still refusing to speak even now? I’ve made up my mind: you are to move out of this room immediately and leave this city with Uncle Kun at once.” Tang Yao tried to be decisive, but it was clear that San Huang was not buying it.
Xin Yi looked the sickly, frail youth up and down. Though he hated to admit it, this fragile boy would make a far better emperor than the Chen Emperor ever could.
I’ve been so busy lately that I wish I could stretch a single day into two. It’s the first time I’ve truly felt what it’s like to start a business from scratch.
Things haven’t been going well in my personal life, and Mom didn’t want to bother me. Seeing me go on a business trip, she thought it would be a good chance for me to clear my head.
“Let me go with you. I happen to have a patient in Nanyou I need to check on, so it’s on the way.” Yu Wuhua watched Leng Feixue nervously, fearing she might refuse.
I truly cannot fathom why Li Zhina wants to talk to me. Could it be that she asked me into the car just to pique my curiosity and torment me?
Er Niu thought that made sense, so he grabbed the letter and bolted toward the divisional headquarters. He had barely reached the gate when the sound of earth-shattering explosions erupted from the front lines. Looking up, he saw four Japanese planes raining fire down upon his position.
“Just pretend you’re watching a fantasy film,” Ye Xiaoyao said with a shrug. A sense of foreboding washed over him; he suddenly felt the urge to turn around and leave, yet a stubborn reluctance held him back. Since he had come this far, he had to at least take a look.
“Fatty, do you want to spar with me?” Ye Xiaoyao asked with a smile once everyone else had left and he remained alone.
Today, to celebrate the founding of the Third Master’s Gang, the tavern offered a fifty percent discount, attracting a large crowd of patrons.
Countless defensive formations shattered. The aged Sarutobi Hiruzen stared at the earthen and water walls before him, now riddled with holes like a sieve, his breathing ragged and heavy like a bellows.
“The Emperor seems to have guessed; he isn’t surprised in the slightest.” Helian Hongye remained vigilant at all times; his father was, as expected, no simple man.
Damn it, if you can’t even learn how to play the sycophant, you’re not even fit to be a backup choice. It seems that arrogance and shyness are the original sins in romantic relationships.
